What makes you grin? Antidote to grumpy thread

I added 1/2 litre of 20/50 into it which quietened it right down, I'm guessing it's running the same 2.3 V6 that's found that the Capri?, It seems quite grunty and has a lovely growl to the exhaust.

Why would the centre console affect the gear linkage A5? I'm pretty sure it's the original one from new.

^^^ That reminds me of the story of a football fan whose team wasn't playing very well one season, and after one particularily bad game in a fit of disgust he threw his season ticket away. A week or so later an envelope arrives in the post, containing, you guessed it, his season ticket. A good samaritan had found it, handed it into the club, who checked who it belonged to and posted it back to him!

Shame you didn't get your monthly ticket back.

just looks a bit high off the tunnel, and the stick looks short - more of an observation rather than a professional opinion :D

Our cleaner's dog only has 3 legs. That is utterly awesome, sad and funny at the same time

I've just done a woop of delight, Just driving back from Screwfix i past the Mk3 Cortina i saw about 6 months ago for the first time.

It's an immaculate 1975-76 Cortina 2000E (NJN ***P) in a nice darkish blue and vinyl roof, the old boy (well into his 70's) driving it had those big black rimmed glasses, tweed jacket and a flat cap and the grill was covered in old badges, You just know the old boys had it from new and it's his daily driver, What a treat!.

Sadly no photos though as i was driving but it's not one I've seen at any shows before. :(

So I've got to learn Final Cut Pro

Ah yes, Final Cut Pro. The first video editing software I managed to learn to use and actually edit a couple of videos. Just.

Grin today as on my way back from work I saw a very shite sort-of-whitish battered Bedford camper van who let me out into traffic, youngish bloke driving. I wish I'd stayed in my place to try and capture a pic of it. It had a white grille and a big BEDFORD sign across the grille. I need to find out where this van lives and get a some pics of it.

Hey I'll manage, I'm not completely useless. A dual booting PC with OS X will help me get the practice in too.

I finally got the chance to check my Bosch 180s over the other night, whilst perusing MM5 \ Warren T Claim's new unit. Once fitted they will allow me to redress the balance of a particular pet peeve I have regarding luxury cars. If written in the form of a letter, it would go something like this:

Dear Audi drivers,

These are my 'driving lights'. They are definitely not fog lights. OK? I am going to wire them into my light switch and drive with them on at full beam at the slightest hint of darkness, you know, like you and your RR Sport owning friends do everywhere you go. Payback for every FUCKING TIME your 'premium xenons' have blinded me down a country lane, petrol forecourt or motorway thoroughfare. I think a pair of Osram Nightbreakers will do the job very nicely.

Is that OK?

Get fucked.

Also, as the final auction price bought me four lamps, I have a pair up for sale if anyone's interested. Probably best you send me a PM if you're keen because they aren't going to be cheap given their rarity. I'm not going to stick a VW scene tax price on them though - I want them to sell.

That reminds me: coming home from work before and some bellend in an E46 with his fog lights on is right up my arse end through a 40mph limit on a notoriously bad stretch of road.

Got to a spot of dual carriageway further up (and out of the 40 zone), he got in the left hand lane to try and overtake me on the inside so I nailed my car and left him in my wake.

I wonder if he'll be rushing to tell his mates that he got turned over by a bloody Vectra?

New Zealand tax rebate has arrived. Except I can't transfer it to my UK account online so have to do it via letter. How very high tech.

There are two metals yards in Peterborough which are about 6 miles from me.I wanted to weigh in some alloy wheels so drove in the opposite direction to a place near Bourne in Lincolnshire. This is about 10 miles from me so not too far. After unloading I went into the weigh-bridge office and the chap takes down my details then says "why didn't you go to Peterborough?" "too many pikeys" says I."the last time I went to Simms two jumped the queue infront of me" office chap replies "yeah,I know what you mean. You go to the office and they're nicking stuff out the back of your truck to weigh in themselves"

So at Riddles in Bourne total time was 15 minutes and no stupid Hi-viz vest needed. In contrast,to weigh in a car at Simms took an hour and a half what with first queuing to get on the 'bridge then another queue in the yard itself.

£40.00 for four wheels and an old greenhouse frame and I was gone less than an hour made me happy today.

I've just had a random phone call from a guy in Wales ringing to tell me that he also has a Opel Kadett B!, He said his dad bought it new in 1973 and it's still only covered 47000 miles but has been in a lock up many years, He also told me that he owns a Vauxhall Velox Estate, A Cresta PA, a Ford Zodiac Highline Mk2 and a Nissan 200SX, all in mint, show condition and under 50000 miles. Jealous. Me. Much. Yes.

In fact this is his Velox. 8)

No, the Vauxhalls were done by Friary. Very nicely, I must admit. The saloon doesn't look like one that would easily make an estate. Farnham mainly did Zodiacs and the like.

Friary!, That what he called it!, he asked me if i was at Billing this year as he was there in the Velox hence why i had a photo of it, I told him that i was jealous of his cars! He sounded like a lovely old chap though, It was nice to get a phone call like that for a change, I think he said he lives near Bridgend Dolly?, No idea where that is though.
