To veer wildly away from motoring, THIS has made me grin tonight. A mahoossive crush from my youth that I feel no embarrassment about, whatsoever. "Phwoar" etc.

80

Yeahman. The Jag is much better on fuel at 80 than it is at 70 as it sits in the supercharger 'happy zone' at 80.. This makes me inordinately cheery.

Oh yeah, also some very good news - Catalonia finally puts a stop to the utterly pointless, archaic, f**ked-up ritual torture. Apparently the rest of Spain is likely to follow before long. How this practice survived for so long in a western European country is far beyond me. Yay for extremely belated Progress.

Excellent, that's made me very happy too. Ta for sharing!

Tune. Many memories of my mid teens associated with that... A couple of hundred fans off their message board converged in Docklands to film it.

I spotted this in W.H Smith this afternoon, it may be the most expensive magazine I've ever bought at £6.99 but it's more of a book then a mag with 132 glossy pages, Very much worth a trip into town!

Blimey. Same here! Though it's cheaper to just go and look at Keith Adams' website...

I'm grinning because my laptop died. Well, ok, that didn't make me grin at all. However, we've dug out an old Toshiba and I've just given it the RAM from the now dead HP. Cor, it's super quick! Now I have a Toshiba Turbo. This baby is going to get a bigger hard-drive next. I'm rediscovering Windows XP as well. I like it.

Yeah but can you read Keith's website whilst sat on the John hey?!, and who said men can't multi task!. The mag covers everything inculding the tractors, buses lorries, Trains, Forklifts you name it, It's covered and it's stacked full of colour photos, Basically imagine it as a book but with a soft back glossy cover.

An e-reader that you can rip a page out of if there's no bog roll left would be good.

A tad political this, but yesterday I was at a friends garage having a cup of coffee when we noticed that the Dibble had blocked off a couple of streets about 200 yards away. Figured it was just because of the Labour party numpties but it turned out that an even bigger bunch of arseholes were in town.

The BNP pricks had arrived because Question Time was being filmed in Liverpool, and Nazi Nick Griffin wasn't invited.

Couple of things to point out.

1. Liverpool is the most integrated city I know in the UK.

2. Question Time was being filmed at the bottom of Upper Parliament St. Where the riots were in '81. So they were in between Toxteth and Chinatown, not a wise place for racists.

3. The locals don't like racists, and they're not scared to do something about it.

As we were doing a few things in the garage we didn't take much notice at first, mainly because it was only a blocked off road and a few Dibble. The local kids were playing in the skateboard park alongside them and it was pretty quiet. Then a BNP truck turned up with loudspeakers and three middle aged thugs in the cabin, they were driving around the area (only a very small part of it, mind, they weren't going to enter Toxteth and come out alive) playing recordings of Nazi Nick interspersed with the odd bit of music, such as Land of Hope and Glory.

As they drove down the main street near the garage they shouted at the group of us at the garage to "Get a job".. which was somewhat amusing as everyone there works at far more credible jobs than driving a truck around trying to incite racial hatred. We told them to go forth and they went off, circling the area with their racist bullshit.

After I had a quick chat to Dibble they were pulled over, and their (Irish registered) van given a good looking over. Which was nice.

We took a walk up to where the BNP were campaigning. There were at least 300 UAF foik there being kept back by the Dibble and under 10 BNP / EDL losers who were all basically staying as close to Dibble as possible. One of the BNP idiots was shouting through a megaphone about Mosques etc. A bunch of local kids were calling him a lot of interesting and highly appropriate names which he didn't seem too happy about.

Walked back to the garage and watched to see who was going to turn up. A few skinheads in Ben Sherman tops arrived (From London I'd guess as they had a Millwall scarf on the rear shelf and Essex reg plates), but they decided not to hang around when they realised that they were massively outnumbered, that a lot of the locals are Black / Asian / Chinese / Scandinavian / Eastern European and that there were a fair few cars full of big lads out patrolling the streets looking for racist thugs to hurt.

So, Liverpool 1 : BNP knobheads 0. Sometimes I love this city.

Truly heart-warming Pete. I grew up in multi-cultural Birmingham. Wonder if the same would happen there.

+1.

Hopefully the British Nazi Party will eventually get the hint and disband.

You're a local then? I'm always around that bit of town. I've not spotted any old Citroens about...

Not exactly a local proper (I'm from the North East) but I live on Belvidere Rd by Princes Park. You won't spot any Citroens as my current steed is a metallic green/gold Mercedes 190D with a rusty wing...

Earlier today Mrs E, daughters No1 & No2 (and 74 other screaming girly Guides and leaders) went to Wembley by charabang to watch a load of pop-tat. However half way round the north circular daughter No1 proclaims:

Were nearly there, THAT'S the old Rover dealer!

Derek J Ketterignham ex-flying ars*hole dealer

Followed by:

We can't be far from the Ace cafe mum?

Made me grin :D
