OBD dongle and android app by the sound of it, you give the app the data about weight and it extrapolates power from acceleration, it's more of a toy than a tool because there are so many other factors involved - try finding a totally flat road for starters!

Depending on the year of your C15 it might not work at all because they aren't all OBD compliant despite having the plug.

I was in the slow lane of the M3 this morning, minding my own business, until I was overtaken by a white, Project Drive spec, Rover 75 TAXI !

I don't know who the owner is, but he definitely belongs on here !

I actually caught a Rover 75 taxi in Birmingham a few years ago, I felt quite happy to be wafted home in such a nice car. There is still a couple of Rover 75 taxi in Brum, I think there is even still a Rover 600 and a Toyota Carina E still plodding the streets of Brum.

When my late uncle was taxiing in wrexham there was an age limit on the cabs.

If you do get it, make sure you dress it up in a suit and some masonic regalia you would have a nice sculpture for the living room in the manner of Karl Hubenthal

Minor victory in muntjac bumper land.

Seller of the creatively described bumper I bought was being vague about whether or not I could return it.

Bodyshop agreed with me that the top lug was smashed, he'd ripped the bottom lip to shreds getting the bottom grille out and there was a massive crack in the O/S corner that wasn't mentioned in the listing.

Instead of waiting for eBay to fart round, I took it back to him in person. In the 305. Two hours down the road. I parked the car directly in front of his loading area, opened the tailgate and fired up my laptop.

He seemed surprised to see me.

"Oh, you want a refund? I've sold hundreds of bumpers and no-one's brought one back before."

"Oh yeah, I'll give you a refund, just later on tonight."

'I've got my laptop on and it's tethered to my phone.'

"The refund will come later on tonight. Can you move your car?"

'The car moves when you refund my money. The bumper's back on your pile; untick the save options on the laptop and option a refund'.

"I've got a van coming with more bumpers in ten minutes."

'Laptop's on the paypal page, it won't even take you two minutes.'

"Your car's in the way."

'Five minutes to go, mate.'

TL:DR: He refunded the money.

I know I keep farting on about Mrs_D's Civic, but it really is an absolute joy. I'd actually forgotten how nice it feels to be able to straighten my legs out while driving, and to not have a centre console permanently wedged against my left shin. Not to mention seats that have proper padding in them, and a nice torquey engine that doesn't need to be balanced within a tiny margin of revs to make decent progress. I'm wondering how much I can do to it without SWMBO noticing - I reckon I'd get away with alloys and noisy induction; might have trouble getting a new grille and 'smoked' lights past her though.

Lost track of exactly where I was driving to a job this morning, thought I had gone too far and realised I don't really care as the seaside is at the end of the road and walking on the beach clears my mind.

Unfortunately I came to a roundabout I remembered and had to go to work :(

I was watching a episode of Shed and buried this afternoon where they were in Cornwall, this proper rotten Tata was in the back ground, it's only a 2006 car, lasted until it's first mot where it got an advisory at 32000 miles and then never saw the road again! Thats pretty epic levels of rust for a 10 year old car.

I'm having evil thoughts about a six foot fibreglass giraffe, a Chinese moped and a weekend's* work in the garage

Minor victory in muntjac bumper land <snip >

Is this muntjac ageing nicely in someone's shed/garage? If not, why the fuck not?

That's nothing new Thailand was talking about all visitors having to have their phones and mobile devices logged and a government sim in their phones "for their own safety" at all times last year.

I don't remember the same flow of liberal bullshit spewing out on social media as their suddenly is now.

If we actually stopped people coming into this country who admit they hate the British, the Western system and declare they want to bring it all down it just might be a little safer place to live. That applies equally to people of all religions and colours.

Good points etc, and I try not to get politikerl about anything, especially as all media sources are biased in one way or another, but one question begs an answer: Why is Saudi Arabia, of which the actual 11/9 bombers were citizens, and whose laws are as firmly rooted in the middle ages as anywhere else, not on the list?

That's a rhetorical question by the way - it's blindingly obvious why the US would never dream of upsetting them. But if it's all about protecting Western citizens and values, their exclusion is kinda awkward.

New housemate has taken to wanking loudly when he thinks no-one's in the house.

It's so comically obvious, he's either deaf or ignorant.

Or both. And definitely blind.

Posted

Double post.

Also, how exactly does one wank loudly enough to be heard in another room?

Trump has properties there.

Also this whole thing isn't about anyone outside the US.

As I said, it was rhetorical. It just illustrates brilliantly how flimsy their official reasoning is.
