I shouldn't really be grinning about this, but I've just got my expenses up to date! Two hours of horrible, horrible admin because I last did it in May...

I just need to try and keep on top of it now.

Two hours ! My heart bleeds 😄

Spent the last two weeks spending every evening 8-12 doing my vat returns . That's on top of working 7.30-6 most days ( not Saturdays tho tbf)

When he turns up at the accountants, with some receipts just regarded as 'misc,' I can definitely see similarities! I'm not good at paperwork.

Yeah, proper business folk do earn my respect to be fair! 2016/2017 is just a step change for me, as I've gone from about ten lines of expenses for an entire year, to something of a cottage (pretty much literally) business! Plus there's the 2CV's crowdfunded project to contend with, and expenses thereof. The simple life isn't as simple as it used to be!

I must admit since I have been vat registered it has made my accounts easier as you must keep on top of it. I use quickbooks which helps and about half hour a day entering the bills and making up the invoices and it's done. Before I was always late getting my accounts in but now they are all done by May. Having to file the vat every 3 months makes you get it done, that and a £100 fine everytime you are late.

Yeh I'm glad I went vat registered. I use sage and my wife is a qualified accounting tech but I want to do it myself . I use a separate garage package for customer invoices and histories, reminders etc .

I left it for the full 3 months which I won't do again - honest !

My last years tax was done by may too tho so not too bad

My last years tax was finally submitted last week as I stupidly decided to have that £1000 or so in my bank account for a bit longer.  This meant that I had to pay 16 months tax in one go along with the NI so the bill was twice what I had expected.

Austerity is currently the watchword here,  grrrr

I'm aiming to have my return in by April 10th this year as I'm owed money, as opposed to last year where I waited for the paper filing deadline as I owed them....

Today's reason to grin is a new car! :D

You can submit your return early and still pay at the end of Jan you know !

That's what I did. I learnt long ago that it's far less stressful to do it over the summer. Sadly, this time, I still forgot to actually make the payment until they sent me a gentle 'ahem.' Which was good of them...

Do you wear Brexit pants? Jeepers. Give it a rest! Dim/dip was always doomed, as I don't believe you can make it work with projector headlamps. I was more sad to see the demise of yellow headlamps in France, though they were ultimately a bit shit as well.

they will work with any incandescant bulb be that in a reffector or a projector its the hids that cant work with dimdip

Now we have a 6 year old and 4 year old in the house Lego is very much on the radar (aka EVERYWHERE)

Where you can find...

Barn Find Lego. Barn. Find. Lego.

It's a wonder the British agriculture industry survives at all considering all the agricultural buildings are heaving with all this shit and cars.

Just rode the first round of the Sw enduro championship and managed to finish and beat my younger , fitter mate who was on a faster bike .

It's pissed it down for the last two days and it was gruelling with no rest or easy bits . Just roots , tree stumps and slippy climbs .

Meant to be one of the hardest of the season so that feels good 😄

The train from Peebo is crap.

There's a family sat in my seat with a shrieking baby and the woman sat across from me complains whenever I dare to move in my seat. "You're on my feet", yeah, sorry for having legs.

Seriously, fuck off.

Train update: staff mega apologetic and upgraded me to the first class quiet carriage for nowt. Would I like a chicken tikka masala and a coffee? Er, yeah, I would.

Sounds like a win.

Today I swam in the North Sea !

My wife has done open water swimming before and hadn't done it for a while, I challenged her to swim one a month for every month of the year.

She was away at a yoga retreat and I picked her up and took her to the beach, in the boot was her full wetsuit and boots etc, I had put a pair of shorts on under my jeans before I'd left and surprised her by getting in

Fuckadoodledoo, my bollocks weren't keen but it was quite refreshing!

Followed a mint looking red quattro in town today. Sadly despite having "fire up the quattro" on his numberplate he pootled around like an old giffer, but was a nice spot.

Talking of spots I forgot to mention seeing a SD1 2000 pottering up the M5 yesterday.

Ace! Kudos to you! It's meant to have many health benefits, saw a programme where a doctor used it to treat depression... Interesting stuff!

Some of the guys from my parkrun have started swimming in Llyn Padarn on a Saturday afternoon, in just trunks though! :o

It's tempting to join them but I just know I'd be too cold. I did go in up to the bottom of my shorts a couple of weeks ago but that was after a 5 mile run so I had a head start on the temperature!

I spent quite a lot of time in the sea over the summer, it's a great feeling!

Met some locals from the R8 club tonight for the first time.  There were TWO Acclaims in attendance, outstanding!

This old Men and Motors review from a rather young looking Richard Hammond cheered me up...

Both cars are still going, altough the Volvo is untaxed and has been since August. The Saab has 150k on it and the Volvo 175k.

From simply interpreting the information within the video, the Saab is an Aero (with 230hp) and the Volvo is a 2.4T (with 200hp).

He does say that the Saab has a light pressure turbo, which means it would have 180hp, but then no V70 has a 150hp LPT (only the 140hp N/A), so I'm uncertain what he means by that.

But two Swedish barges remaining on the go (both with chocolatey autos too) is oddly pleasing.

Probably old hat but I'd not seen fried Mars bars advertised until I went in the local fish shop a few days back. Not for me though, I'd not considered fish and chips as the health option until then!
