Cheered myself up by searching Youtube for Austin Princess videos.  Found a three year old video recorded from the dashboard of an Austin A55.  You've probably seen this before, and it's not very exciting, but it made me feel better.

An New Zealand flavoured hopeless old vehicle collection and some point around a scrap yard is about to commence.

My phone is pretty sketchy at the moment so no live updates here but I can use twitter so you can follow the action (whether you have twitter or not at:

twitter.com/pmozzy

Just type it or copy and paste, for reasons unknown I can't get a hyperlink to work.

Added. Some great photos!

Well the saph is all up and running, it purrs like a kitten again the replacement engine is quiet and pulls strong which is a relief, i have a couple of airlocks that just won't shift they show when driving so I think they are playing hide and seek in the heater matrix other than that it's brill

That's super-fast work Fordperv, I'd still be crying occasionally and slamming stuff around in a grump.

Anyone who's been following my escapades on Twitter will already know that this cast collection not going well, that I'm currently stuck in the rain in the middle of nowhere with a Honda with collapsed rear suspension. Does anyone know if an 89 Honda Accord shares it's rear suspension with anything else? Upper control arms specifically.

Please advise where the middle of nowhere is. I don't know if i can be any help though !

Passed my driving test yesterday, on my second attempt. One minor too, so not too shabby.

I've spent most of my spare time out in the ZX, how bloody fun is driving?!

Also, treated it to two new front tyres yesterday, as one of them was from 2002 and the other was 1991!

How many Rover SD1 estates exist? Two of course, one at Gaydon and the other in the Haynes museum.

WRONG! Tried to buy a Maxi yesterday and lost out on it, but the seller also has this stashed away in his collection

It's a DIY job using a Volvo 245 back end. Part Rover, part Volvo, all awesome. Of course I tried to buy it but he won't sell this one :(

Holy moly, the way it's parked on the road in the rain suggests he uses it regularly too...?

Looks ace. The Volvo lights give the bitsa-ness away a bit, I wonder if there was anything BL that could have been used for a 100% factory style finish?

Oh, yeah, I came here to post a grin of my own.

When I left work, my colleagues bought me a hamper full of beer and gin, and also "some bacon"

What they've actually got me is a bacon subscription where they post out 8 rashers of top quality sliced pig every week/fortnight/month (you choose), 13 times. Some of it is flavoured, some traditional. There was a pack to start me off in there and it's bloody lovely.

Basically, I'm subscribed to the Netflix of Bacon.

/\ Is that 'Cure & Simple'?

We recently had them sign up as a customer at work and I thought what a good idea it looked. Let me know what the verdict is and I may subscribe myself.

That's not my photo and I suspect it was taken a few years ago. It is legal but is currently in his garage having sadly sustained a bit of damage when a truck backed into it. He intends to fix it and put it back on the road though. Frankly I'm amazed how well the Volvo bits fit on the SD1 - I had no idea it existed and I've always loved the Gaydon car so when my dad came home and told me about it I practically exploded :) I think the guy would fit in well here to be honest, he's well into SD1s and has a couple of old Fords too.

Also, bacon subscription sounds awesome.

Thanks all. I tell you what, it's annoying now that I took so long getting that pink plastic card but better late than never. And yes, I've already gone out spotting this morning:

Watch your bank balance plummet now bramz as you put fuel in, tax, insurance, 3am McDonald's runs etc!

Just checked on the Internet, and the xantia is still showing as taxed. Do I just wait for it to say not taxed, or go online later and tax her under my name?

I'm sitting outside with a glass of Burgogne aligote having a read while the oven warms up.

Rural idyl photo.....

Neighbour's with the new RR sport have just walked past to go and look after the "Wessex's Ducks" whilst they're away. Could be a hanging offence if they die! Anyway have offered to bring me some chard and courgettes from the Royal kitchen garden.

Last year when the royals were away up at balmoral all hell broke loose when the police lost one of the dogs! Everything short of the Surrey police helicopter came to find her.
