Bloody thing only passed , I almost fainted . I paid my monies and made good my exit before he changed his mind.

Just been on the website and some good deals, but still need £6k upfront . Although an A7 for £450 per month is appealing for work. The 6p per mile excess over 20,000 miles could be a worry as I did 98,000 last year.

My mileage might seem a lot to anyone not in the private hire business, but it doesn't take many trips to the airport to rattle them up. If I don't do an average of 3 jobs a day , I'm not making a living.

I work 7 days a week for probably 48 weeks a year , most days are about 4-500 miles- at an average of a little more than 30 for most of them. This morning I left for Gatwick at 04.00 and was back in bed by 07.00 - 210 miles.

The figure of 98,000 is my actual mileage for the last financial year. The most I've ever done was almost 3,000 a week in 2005 when I had a contract taking employees on 6 trips a day from Milton Keynes to Birmingham, although I did split this between a Volvo S80 and a Galaxy.

I think thats how ssangyong tried to woo the private hire drivers with there 5 year 250,000 mile warranty on the rodius. Don't think it worked. Most warranties go a bit daft when you say its for private hire. Or they used to. Come to think at yhe time the rodius may have been unlimited mileage for private hire.

Isn't Merc still unlimited miles for private hire? Firm that my work uses to take us to the airport runs E class diesels to 3 years / 300k

I'll happily do 300 miles a day for work, but I'm not doing it every day so I'm only knocking up 30k a year, some days I sit at home and the car doesn't move. Another day I might drive to Glasgow. It's nice when it's nice, but Friday evening coming back from Gatwick I would have killed for a desk job.

That would explain how they managed to sell any of the things,

A mate had a Hyundai Trajet that he bought new , he clocked it every 6 months and had it serviced at the main dealer. In 4 years it had 3 gearboxes and an engine . Apparently Hyundai kept telling him it was the worse they'd ever seen and couldn't work out why it was so bad when it had only done about 100,000 miles .
