What makes you grin? Antidote to grumpy thread

It looks like a knock-off MG, Landrover and Audi all at the same time.  That's quite impressive.

Was chatting to a Canadian friend last night and we got talking about cars.  Always fun to meet a new gearhead and what they're into, he's owned some nice trucks but his tastes are perhaps a little modern for me.  Thing is, we got talking about car history and he was asking about some of mine and then I quickly realised the way I go about buying, owning and running cars is absolutely mad.  I'm not the only one either, relating the story of Phil getting the red Princess home just sounded made up but was incredibly entertaining both to tell again and for my friend to hear.

Much of my car shenanigans are the fault of this forum and it's amazing what just seems completely normal to me, like swapping a floppytop Golf that's been in a field for 3 years for a Princess that doesn't run and has been in a garage for 17 years to then sell it to someone who intends to drive it half the length of the country untested to an MoT.  You don't seem to get that sort of nonsense anywhere else.  My entire car owning life is basically a banger rally but with about the same amount of dressing up, less boring reliability and sketchy charity money raising excuses and sadly less alcohol consumption these days.

So cheers Autoshite!  Against all the odds, you're helping me make stronger friendships with people I'll never meet in person.

I suspect the name may hold more appeal than the product, I've not drank cider since I was a young 'un. You should find it easy enough, it's part of a cider festival at everyone's favourite chain of pubs :)

Erm, even the teetotallers like me?

I'm going to guess Wetherspoons...

the words 'favourite' and 'chain' never appear together in sentences of mine, with the obvious exception of this one of course.

everyone's* favourite*

I prefer independent places myself, some really good new pubs opening up these days

.... sadly 'really good new pubs OPENING' isn't exceeding really good old pubs CLOSING! :?

After MANY Peugeot related insurance grumps, I today added my new Volvo to my FJ insurance policy for the grand total of £32. Including IPT.

For the remaining eleven months of the policy.

Why did I buy a 406 again and why have I not bought an 850TDi estate yet?

My favourite chain is the one by Fleetwood Mac.

I took Kinky Girl strawberry picking today. She claims to have never done it before, but rapidly learned about 'quality control testing' while you pick :)

Ah, wondered what these were. There is one on that god awful insurance advert with the two prats dancing.

Best not let it go mouldy then!

That's called a Blue Waffle.

Two fantastic tennis matches yesterday utterly destroyed my productivity. Working on the same machine that you're trying to watch tennis on is not ideal. Meant I missed a few key moments while dealing with emails and exciting* spreadsheets. An utter joy to watch though.

Then went to the pub. Unsurprisingly, it was rather busy with the footy on. Didn't see much of the match, just enough to see one player (Portuguese) rolling around on the floor in agony*. If it's that bad, they should ship the f*ckers straight to bloody hospital. There was disappointment, but the locals merely enjoyed what had been achieved by Wales, then drank more beer and had a nice, quiet time.

Had a right result yesterday as I sold the combicamp trailer tent on ebay for a 150 quid profit. They collected it and paid up with no issues. Wish I had the same luck selling my cars

I've just collected a muthaload of kids toys from freecycle! Really could have done with the XM, nearly had to make 2 trips

1 massive box of thomas trains and track (and a mahoosive sheet of MDF which they used to lay it on and slide under a bed, gave that to my stepdad), a car garage with ramps, noises and stuff, and a pirate ship outdoor water table that just needs a clean

God bless rich idiots! Should make ££ at the car boot with it if the kids get bored of it too next year
