What makes you grin? Antidote to grumpy thread

If I ever indulge in some 'menage et un' action at work I will possibly do a 'Stu CDX' on the big cheese's car bonnet.

However I'd rather pay them in kind and defecate from the top of the HQ. Just so they know how it feels.

Oh, forgot a grin. Getting a text from The Moog of Bernard the Bedford CF Camper looking all happy in the Scottish Highlands. That was nice.

I like the idea of catching 40 winks in the back of a truck cab, like a little home away from home. I'm sure in reality it's not really that cosy.

I slept in the back of my Whizzkid, I woke up shocked at about 5am with a sharp pain through my entire body. I had to disassemble the seat to make more room.

When I was at the VBOA show the other month I thought I'd be ok sleeping in the front of the Sprinter - sling a few cushions across the seats and it'd make a comfy bed. It didn't and I spent most of the following day tired and aching.

Sleeping in cars is often painful. I've slept in the front of a 2CV (we were four up!), in the boot of a BX hatch (cramped), across the back seat of a Dyane (very cramped) and even found an Acadiane (Dyane van) uncomfortably short.

Insurance company have rang this morning to offer me £2000 for my Passat, I'm happy with that as I only pay two grand for it 18 months ago plus it means my new car only cost £500, so I mustn't grumble.

Yay, Trigger! Now you can afford that Corsair. I hope you kept the phone number... :D

Good news Trigger, hope that's spruced up your 'old car buying mojo'.

On the subject of sleeping in cars, if I'm very tired and been driving for a long time I'll drive into a layby and fall half-asleep, then jolt myself awake imagining I've fallen asleep at the wheel while driving. Fugging hate that feeling.

The most luxo car sleeping experience is owning a decent sized estate and an airbed.

Thanks guys, I should have really rang about that Corsair today but I'm struggling to decide what i think if them, I've always seen them as the Cortina's ugly brother?.

On another note, whilst queuing in the Co-op earlier the old girl in the queue behind me managed to drop her false teeth out of her mouth and on to the conveyor belt past me :?

Actually they are VERY comfortable! Particually in winter with the night heater on and the lights down low.

Unless it's you and two mates kipping all night in a Talbot Solara outside the old Simca factory in Poissy, just outside Paris!!! Ahhhhhh...bliss!

I guess it was just like being a big Elvis fan and kipping outside Graceland in a ...whatever Elvis drove.

I've never been comfy kipping in a car... I've tried it a couple of times at shows (once, got there too late to find room for tent, and then when I took a tent but no poles) and always been very uncomfortable with incredibly cold feet.

I did find though, a beetle with the passenger and rear seats removed fits me perfectly - feet up front, and the rear frame raises up and supports your neck. Very comfy in fact! No scope for turning over in the night though, without a face full of regulator.

I slept for ten nights at Loch Morlich in my Hillman Avenger Estate once. I just lifted the mattress and bedclothes off my bed and threw them in the back of the car.

I had an electric heater standing on the front seats so the 6" of snow on the bonnet after the first night didn't bother me at all. :D

I slept in my 306 every night for nearly two months in the second year of Uni, when my bitch of a housemate changed the locks on the doors so I couldn't get in.

I used to drive to various parts of the campus and use the shower block in the science labs to stay clean. At weekends a couple of friends ran the rugby squad and let me use the showers near the sports pitches.

I was proper comfy, I had three quilts and a sleeping bag and folded the back seats down to make a double bed.

Then, after breaking in twice to my house to get the stuff that I needed, another housemate copied her key, and I got back in.

Her dad tried to have me arrested like, but I got back in the house eventually. I told the landlady what had gone on and bitchgirl had to pay my share of the rent for two months as well :D

Always remember the letter in Viz saying 'With the old height restriction in the police force, how did Frost become a policeman in the 1st place'...

I'd like to see David Jason drive that 3 wheeled van of his like that in OFAH! I forgot he drove a Sierra in Frost.

Quality. I bloody love A Touch of Frost. Didnt like the last few eps when they brought it back though - Think they should have left it tbh.

Oh and nice one with the cockgobbler trader as well. Do you think the cops had a word with him or was he genuinly a bit guilty and thought he would call back to apologise?

Yeah agreed Marshall, it all went downhill when he posted his Sierra into a skip  Volvo was ok, but not as good as the Sierra. Don't even get me started on the Astra estate....but in general the last few eps should never have been made and now he's sort of will he/won't he come back. I think they should make another one but back to basics - more grittier like the first few series.

That was because he was guilty. My dad spoke to him and he felt bad when he said I'd phoned the police.

Even better than that...

A set of Cesaro alloys!

Only problem is that they are miles away from me. I sense a roadtrip coming on....

Probably end up a bargain price too. Especially as seller has the magical powers to fit 195/60/14 tyres to 13" wheels. And can't spell Vauxhall.

You want gritty? Read one of the original Frost books! I read one recently, and like Lovejoy, the character on the page is a lot harder than the one on screen, in so many ways.

Well done over the dodgy dealer too.

Or the county he lives in.

I've blasted off an email to them being cheeky and asking how much casharoonie would buy them.

I looked on AA route planner, it's not that far away from Tunny Wells, I used to see a bird from there and it took me 2 hours in the car from mine. Road trip is do-able :)

One of my junior school teachers always spelt it as vauxhaul. used to irritate the fuck out of me. I was 9 and I could spell it properly, why shouldn't a 40-odd year old man?

Last thing I heard he was working on the tills at the local Tesco. No need for spelling there or indeed, a 'vauxhaul'.

I removed the rear wheels on my new Maestro purchase to hose and scrub out all the accumilated mud and shit. My previous Maestro purchase turned out to be very rotten in these areas when the mud was cleaned away. Guess what I found. ZERO RUST. The cut out for the filler neck, the ends of the sills, the arch lips, all rust free and looking mint. Amazing. Im so happy I may even clean the rest of the car tomorrow.

I was bored this evening, so I made a pickup for the mandolin (out of rubbish.. zero cost job) and had a play at distortion.

Means I can use FX and record straight to the PC with it too ;)

Remember there's a fine line between sleeping in a car, and dogging.
