Unleaded is 99.9 a litre in esso right now. Put 60 litres in for £60! 27mpg.

Do you get any hand held "Animal" in Beko ?

The Mrs bought 1 of those G-Tech thingies and tbf it's shite.......

Never have so far. All 'animal' means is it has an air driven turbo head, nothing else. All the handheld seem as bad as each other sadly, lack of suction being the main biggie.

Is it all marketing then with dyson?

Pretty much, a non animal is the same machine, same motor, probably has a hepa filter and different colour plastics. Likewise a hepa advertised cleaner just has a hepa filter rather than a normal one.

I have to bite my tongue when people bang on about their Dyson animal (what's the dc number love so I know what I'm quoting on) it's a DYSON Animal... (great, but dc05,7,8,14,15,24 or 25?) err animal...

Nowadays I think they just say pets... Same machine, different tools

After a 2 year break from the roads, fixed HGF, cam belt and much, much electrical tinkering into the wee small hours of the morning 6 hours before its test, this bag of bolts passed its WoF (MOT) yesterday:

IMG_9786.jpg

I drove it home 20 miles on fumes, ignoring the two petrol stations passed as the one closest to home has marginally cheaper fuel. Getting stuck in unexpected road works (single lane, tailbacks of hundreds of metres), philibusmo and I were concerned with running out of petrol and overheating, with the temp gauge not working. As we passed through, the STOP/GO man turned his lollypop to stop straight afterwards and we both let out a massive collective cheer!

Just goes to prove that life is better with a little bit of needless, self inflicted tension every once in a while.

bastard - hate you :D

To put it another way, I've had nearly £300 worth of work so far this year (not got any cash to show for it but it goes on food and clothes and veg oil...)

The dc24 had a blown motor, the dc14 has one, had a dc14 before the new year with a blown motor, the dc39 is just clogged and the dc16 is mine anyway! Gonna need to stock the shed up soon with filters and belts at this rate!

We are on our second Die son.

God knows A. Why we bought another one after the first one went up in smoke.

And B. Why I let my Mrs choose a poxy cylinder model with no turbo brush which falls over or gets stuck on every doorway, when it's me that does the bloody vacuuming!

Yes they are powerful but everything else about them is Fisher Price shit.

Sebo are supposed to be GR9 and are a similar price to Dysons. Henrys are pretty indestructible too. Millions of schools/hotels/hospitals/workplaces can't be wrong.

I must have seen 14.9 billion Corsa Cs since 1999 and have never noticed the line on the door between the bump strip and sill!

Henry's are the 90's Toyota of the Hoover world

True enough, though of course, a Henry has far more character. Ours is bloody awesome.

As soon as I heard the release valve I said "oh that sounds blocked",

Apparently the Dyson call centre people can hear bypass valves down the phone, it's one of the reasons they make the distinctive noises.

I bought a vax 8 years ago because my mum had an original one in about 1990 and our vax has never been a problem.

We had a fancy Dyson before that but it was just a gimmicky piece of plastic

Nope, they're still Animal branded.

Except the cordless doesn't come with the tangle free turbine as the turbine would sap too much power from the battery driven motor, so it has the motor driven brush tool instead.

You then get total clean that has the furry head, and the Absolute that has the reach under tool and soft furnishing tool.

They're binning the DC numbers as a customer facing item soon, it'll be on the product label but not on the logo. My self-built DC75 is just called the Cinetic Big Ball for example, and you get Small Ball too. Smaller range.

I love em. I love the technology and the design and the fact they do what they're meant to. Mine hasn't got a single filter to ckean, it has waggly silicone nozzles. I love that they're engineered rather than designed.

I can't wait to get a silicone rubber Ed filter less machine in 8 years time, I bet it will be a joy...

The trade are going off new Dysons now, their just not economic to repair at the moment, genuine and pattern parts are hard to get/expensive/not tooled up yet, and as they all fail in the same way (dc41 mk1 centre baseplate wheel anyone), second hand spares are rare.

Not having the dc number will be a pain too, it's the first thing I ask for when doing a quote.

Posted

They'll still do DC numbers but more as a code on the sticker rather than plastered all over the box and handle etc.

The RR spotted thread has some real gems, this is one of them. No, not the Renault! The Hyundai Pony pick up next to it. That's not something you ever see in the wild.

Edited to add: http://retrorides.proboards.com/thread/185899/1989-hyundai-pony-pickup it belongs to the person that took the photograph. Neat!

Oi, you can't go posting that on here...It doesn't even look like a vacuum cleaner ;)

I want a 5 turbo, mrs fp talked me out of buying one years back, I agreed with her reasoning, the engine wouldn't have lasted a week with lead foot and turned up boost
