Are you saying he'll buy the Audi because he'll have owned everything else by then?

I thought he had a thing for lesser digit plates? (LOO 843)

But yes, your suggestion will probably be true too...

My thing is for two number plates. The XM is therefore disappointing on this score.

v12 7 series not man enough? How about a 6.7 litre v16 one then?

At last, a BMW I would actually like to own. Performance not that great for its size by today's standards, but hey- V16!!!

Saw a video that suggested fitting the arms of your glasses with heat shrink which stops them slipping.

Only flipping works 😊

Walking home from uni and there's an AA van in the Asda car park.

Helping out what?

Sacked off the Glow worms that were masquerading as the Discovery's headlights, and fitted a 6k Hid kit

Completely transformed the night vision

I can now actually see the road as well as oncoming traffic now !

I feel sorry for the poor people coming towards you now.

Do aftermarket hids have to have the self leveling system fitted like the factory ones do ?

They should in my opinion

Posted

I thought HIDs were usually MOT fails, due to shit beam patterns?

Yes they should be self levelling and have washers( or wipers, I suppose) that's why aftermarket kits are mostly illeagal and won't pass MOTs.

Because............?

Because aftermarket hids on oncoming cars are usually what blinds you.

I've lost count of the number of people who've told me I should HID the XM. It is at least a self-levelling car, which keeps the MOT man happy. I'm still not keen on blinding the fook out of people though, so I'll stick with my glow worms. Main beam is at least impressive.

As a Discovery driver with it's high seating position you're perhaps less aware of it but my tastes run lower and being blinded, usually by aftermarket lights, makes night driving a misery. Corvette was very vunerable. Original Xenons with self leveling lights or rear suspension much less of a problem.

After fitting them it might be worth getting the headlights aligned properly on a beam tester.

Come MOT time they may be a failure depending on your MOT man.

I recently fitted projectors to the boring, which I then had aligned, they have made a massive difference to the light. I'm not a fan of the style of the new headlights, but they work bloody well.

I really need to get the Nightbreakers boshed into the Panda. The dipped beam is utterly useless. I have to keep switching the lights off and on to convince myself they're working!

My Nissan has HID lights, they are fucking shit, half the time only one of them comes on and you have to turn the lights on and off a few times before both of them wake up. Typical crummy Chinese shite fitted by barries

I looked on ECP for new bulbs for the ZX whilst finding ones for the Meriva. All they have that isnt made by lucas is

Blue light? Doesnt really sell itself, and all the other £1.25 bulbs come with a lead off the bulb

which the Philips doesnt have. And the ones on the car work fine, are MUCH better than the XM headlights were and now I cant be bothered to change them!

Where do you get heat shrink that fits over your whole head? Don't you end up burning your ears when shrinking it?

I'm currently arranging collection of the new Lancia for Sunday ... I'm quite excited, as well as slightly nervous about the LHD thing.
