I've noticed that my mums postie (does his round as I walk over to hers for lunch) alternates between his 14 plate battered fiat thing and an even more battered 56 plate pogweaseled combo van. I assume the same happens to him!

I went to Germany and back on the weekend, can't believe my Astra is still going without any problems. Went from Wirral to Dover, then Dunkirk through Belgium up to Antwerp, down to Luxembourg, and then through into Germany to 'Nurburg', and then back again through bottom of Belgium to Luxembourg through Riems and back up to Calais, and then to Coventry before back home to the Wirral.

We got lost as satnav refused to work through Belgium and Luxembourg and sacked off Nurburgring when we couldn't find a hotel for the night, slept in the back and headed home.

Heading out again at the end of the month (in something a bit faster though).

Someone has actually had to do a risk assessment of the washing up liquid at work and stick it above the sink. Still, I never realised it was a non flammable liquid so requires no additional fire precautions, so that was money well spent

We had to give up buying lime juice in 5 litre plastic bottles at the bar in our club because silly arses kept trying to wash the glasses with it.

That washing up liquid hazardous warning is ripe for a bit of subtle trolling, replacing it with an altered one in the same format.

What if someone buys a different make of washing up liquid, does that have to have another assessment?

The front cover of Classic Car Buyer this week features lots of 2CVs, but also lots of low-horsepower stuff. In fact, apart from the bespoke Atalanta thing, the most powerful car on the front cover is a 1.8-litre Merc 190E. I like writing for this rag and I apologise for harping on about it.

It seems the recent performance problems with the avantime feeling sluggish is because the mat had rolled up and was stuck under accelerator.

Avid followers of the Grumpy Old Man thread might recall that I received an unexpected bill a few days ago in respect of a social fund loan that I'd completely forgotten about.

Well today the universe was rebalanced.  I received a letter from the bank I was with as a student, and with whom I had a long-standing graduate loan.  They've apparently discovered that they've been overcharging me interest for some time, which means that not only is my loan closed (which frees up the 80 quid a month I've been paying into it), but they've sent me a cheque for the balance, which is not far off a grand.

This sort of thing never happens to me.  If I hadn't had such a shit day at work I would have thought I was dreaming it...

Excitingly I (well Mrs Trigger really) feature in the new issue of Classics Monthly, I can't wait to read it!.

Excelsior news! The non-working fan in the Punto has sprung to life again after a hefty thump in the right place under the dashboard, after a few weeks on/off trying.

Also, in other good news good old British Waterways (or someone) have cut some of the hedges down the Shropshire Union canal, so I don't have to come home from a ride back from work looking like a blind acupuncturist's dummy. Nice one, BW, a job  well done.

Also, in bad news I got a front and rear puncture from the thorns from the cut hedges on the SU canal. Fuck you British Waterways, just leave things alone.

Getting my money back off my bank today that was fraudulently taken last week, also the new debit card and pin arrived this morning so its 'as you were' for me.

NARU?

Not A Registered User.

AKA one less asshole on ebay.

/\

Trouble is those NARUs then get a new ebay account and can start trolling/pissing about at will, and you won't know they are doing so until too late. In the good old days (when you could see who the other bidders were) you could not only block the person who aggrieved you, but also the people who were obviously their mates bidding their items up.

I left the Volvo We are Rolling CD in my wife's car stereo as a wee surprise for her and it turns out she likes it.

Brill news on the cycling front today: altered my route to work (f*ck you, British Waterways) and went down the lanes instead. Took a bend pretty much full on, came round the corner and the road was covered in cow shit. And then, so was I. Had the pleasure of arriving at work stinking of shit and looking like a Greater Spotted Knobwarbler.

I'm going in the car tomorrow.

You've seen the dancing solar powered flowers?

I was in poundland today, and they've adapted them for Halloween. Flower replaced by ghost, pumpkin etc.

GR11 idea! Sure the kiddies will be wowed by your solar powered decorations whilst mugging you for sweeties at night.
