Have you seen that guy on Pistonheads who's doing something similar with a Lexus LS400 and Renault Espace body?

Got to hope his Lexus is as reliable as they're said to be because look at his engine access:

Seems to be plotting moving the steering wheel to the middle at the moment.

I've seen the in-progress pics of that Allegro and hoped it was moving along further.  I also hope they find some way to make the wheels not look stupid, that's going to be quite a challenge.  Should've used a Maxi/Marina/Princess/Ital as they're that bit bigger but probably not as funny*.  Fingers crossed for not-too-stupid arches and a proper rubbish BL shade for the finished article!

Actually, while we're on the subject of bolting abject BL horrors onto terrible performance car chassis', Capt Slow and I were joking recently about draping a Princess body on a Lotus Elite/Eclat chassis.  It would solve nothing, but it was a fun idea.

Had the San Francisco equivalent of a dodgy mincab ride home last night in a 393,000 mile Crown Victoria which still managed to waft along the freeway at 85 leaving a small trail of plastic interior trim parts behind.  When we started the journey, the "flat rate" driver mentioned a sum of $35 and that he was "cheaper than a cab".  My colleague got to pick up the final tally of $105 when we reached the hotel (the metered cabs are about $55).

But I had a little smile on my face, as these old barges are getting rarer on the taxi scene now and it might well have been my last ever ride in one...

My brain had this great idea about quarter of an hour ago that I should try and draw something from memory.  Instead of something amazingly realistic and awe inspiring, this sheet of A4 nonsense happened.  You're the only people I know that would appreciate this.  I should apply crappy filters and Photoshop the balls off this and sell it to idiots on Deviantart or something.

Having a race with my female boss, who appeared behind me halfway to work this morning in her A4 2.0 Ecobollox, and proceeded to hang onto my bumper whilst I put my boot down!

I wouldn't want to hang on to the bumpers of my female boss.

Sadly my local Halfrauds did not seem to stock the bulb that I wanted.

Although at £16.99 they were probably a little cheaper than the ones that were there before.

Honestly, that Allegro will look amazing with large wheel arches. I love the shape of the Allegro (finally).

Keating Bolt - The only car designed and built by Barries.

He should never be allowed to design a car - get someone else to do it who has at least some experience in it. It's a prototype but it's more kitcar, thos Ripspeed add ons are doing it no favours.

Want to re-arrange those Haynes manuals by colour. Would make it slightly harder to find a specific manual but still worth it.

Is there a logic behind what colour a manual is?

Posted

I think Haynes just went with whichever colour they thought was prettiest at the time.

Finished playing LA Noire on the XBox last night, superb game with a proper story line! Can play the DLC now.  :)

Looking at a post-count, and the number instantly suggesting the engine size of various Autoshite, eg. 2347 = Citroen CX; 1565 = Renault 16; 1116 = Fiat 128; 998 = Mini.

My mind comes up with some weird shit...

I've been doing that with my alarm clock for years. Depending what shift I've been on or if it's a day off I've used BMW models (5.20, 6.35, 7.28 etc) or for days off or later starts I've gone into Porsche territory, 9.11, 9.28.... Sad....

I used to remember telephone numbers by car model numbers, even if they didn't quite fit. I remembered the number 825934 as a Rover and half way between two Porsches and 818736 was a Mazda and not quite a BMW. For some reason I find that convoluted logic easier than just remembering numbers.

I just did the CSCS H&S Test today. Some of the 'pre test' cribs were about all sorts of Acronyms and shit... Some form, called EH40, is about 'Exposure to Hazardous >> whatever...'

I'm happy to say I didn't forget the connection.... 40's need Exposure.

I passed.

I dropped off an application to rent a garage at the council offices yesterday. Expecting a waiting list of several months, I was very surprised when this afternoon I had a phone call from a guy at the housing association offering me a garage at the second of my four preferred locations! Hopefully I'll be signing the paperwork and collecting the keys on Monday, which I'm proper chuffed about.

Oh yes, there's a Hillman Avenger parked outside at the moment! It's yellow or white with racing stripes, black bonnet and boot spoiler, not a Tiger but I think the owner's tried to emulate one. I've got a shit picture as my Iphone doesn't like the dark, will get a better one if it's still there in the morning.

Saw the new neighbour today for the first time. He swung a tatty pea green P5 into his drive,so he must be a reasonable chap.
