trigger Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 Yesterday I spotted for the second time in the last few years a tatty looking D reg Rover SD1 (model unknown) in Colchester being driven by a smart looking older gentleman wearing a shirt and tie and on a similar note most mornings i see a smartly dress guy in a white shirt and tie driving a very rough looking white K reg Maestro along my road. I like to imagine him being the manager of a successful shipping company and parking this rough Maestro in his personal car parking space at the office next to the sales reps Audi's and Mercedes.

cort16 Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 I saw an old boy driving a Blue mk5 Cortina estate today near my work. I know most of the tat in that area but I've not seen that before. Original giffer Cortina's are nearly always easy to spot as the front number plate is always mounted too far up the bumper.
TimothyClaypole Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 I've a brand new and working toaster (the case is dented) under my bench at work so tomorrow I'm going to see if I can get away with toasting a crumpet. (I've been banned from taking buns in... ) - miserable manager(s), can't hack it that I'm the BEST.
pompei Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 WoW, I only occasionally dip into RR and missed that build. That hot rod creation is just bloody fantastic! 49 pages spent well into the night (and early morning)
Lord Sterling Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 Yesterday I met Pete the Organist, it great to meet him and his cars, particularly the Renault 14 of which I've not seen one in the metal for a good few years (probably about 15 years or so) I've just come back from the South after dropping Ma_Sterling off and helping her shift a few things. Whilst there I decided to pop into Central London with the Rover. It was great driving that thing around London, it felt 'just right' if that makes any sense. Me cruising in the Rover dressed in a suit and my best Arthur Daley overcoat blasting some classical choons, I toured around Buck house, Houses of Thieves (Parliament) and Kensington and Chelsea to see what luxo chod I could spot, I pappeda few pics, but nothing substantial, I shall chuck some pics up some time soon as I need to jettison the pics from my phone as its getting into 4-figure amount of pics I have stored on there. On the journey down South, into and around Central London, out again, then back to Birmingham, the Rover behaved absolutely impeccably For now, have this rubbish attempt at getting the Rover in a shot with Big Ben: I honestly couldnt find anywhere else to park where I could get a better shot.
Des Posted November 6, 2012 Posted November 6, 2012 You did incredibly well parking that close without being clamped / towed / controlled exploded / shot at, and maybe in the coming weeks you'll receive a cascade of pics depicting your car.In the form of CCTV PCNs for daring to drive on London streets. I've a brand new and working toaster (the case is dented) under my bench at work so tomorrow I'm going to see if I can get away with toasting a crumpet. Do look for smoke detectors wherever you place your toaster, 10 years ago I had one at work and I failed to carry out that that check. Used it loads until one day just as I'm spreading on the butter the fire alarm goes off, everyone promptly makes their way to assemble in the carpark, I arrived a bit late as I had to put the marmalade on my toast, when I stepped out enjoying my bittersweet and slightly charred treat, my colleage Ian informed me that it's our office responsible for the predicament, fire brigade on way, £400 charge for false alarm, big trouble.Soon as we're allowed in I sprinted ahead, grabbed my toaster, wrote 'Ian' on it with a marker and plonked it on Ians desk just as he comes in, on spotting it he called me a rotten bastard and started to laugh at which point a jumped up tart called an operations manager or something arrived, sees Ian with 'his' toaster and launched into a truely superb bollocking, ''I'm so glad you find it funny blah blah self important angry shouty tinpot blah blah'' denying poor Ian a chance to get a single word in, I actually fell to my knees with breathing difficulty caused by indigestion from laughing my bollocks into a knot.
dollywobbler Posted November 6, 2012 Posted November 6, 2012 Aye. A former office I worked in banished our toaster after similar events. We didn't get charged by the Fire Brigade the first two times though...
seth Posted November 6, 2012 Posted November 6, 2012 Whilst there I decided to pop into Central London with the Rover. I hope you remembered to pay your £10 for the privilege. (Unless it was Sat/Sun you did that bit)

(Unless it was Sat/Sun you did that bit) I did yes, it cost me pretty much all the credit on my phone (that and trying to phone up the accomodation people for Ma_Sterling to find the place she was supposed to be staying at as my SatNav couldnt pick it up) but at least I got it out of the way.

vulgalour Posted November 6, 2012 Posted November 6, 2012 It has been very, very cold so I've been wearing a fur overcoat to work the past few days. Driving a tatty old Maestro while wearing a brown three-piece suit, fur overcoat and massive hat really makes me feel like Old Money, it's awesome. Also, received numerous compliments for my appearance, my deportment, the quality of my work and the obvious effort I'm putting in to actually go places in my current job from boss and company executives alike which had me properly grinning for the latter part of the day. It has been intimated that I'm in the running for the permanent contracts that are hopefully to be available in Jan/Feb time when my temp contract ends. Today has been awesome.

Well in that case you have no excuse not to purpleise and straighten out the Princess and be ready to rock up to work like a boss....

I started a airfix Mk1 Escort model last Christmas, painted the shell, decided it looked shite and bunged it on top of a unit and haven't touched it since. I suck at model making.
outlaw118 Posted November 6, 2012 Author Posted November 6, 2012 Spambots talking to other spambots....see Gifts For Diwali "thread"....
Cavcraft Posted November 6, 2012 Posted November 6, 2012 Dug out all the old truck/truck show pictures I purchased from, err, a truck show, and have slowly started adding them to Flickr. If nothing else it's keeping me amused for a couple of hours or so and there's some right old oddball stuff in there.
vulgalour Posted November 6, 2012 Posted November 6, 2012 I thought you were on the bins, VA? I was... then I broke the medial ligament in my knee and lost the job. Ended up as a warehouse operative for Sports Direct, but that job ended when I blacked out and had a petit mal (not epiliptic, delayed stress from the accident, apparently) siezure and though I should have been allowed back to work, they denied all knowledge and I lost that job and now I work at Go Outdoors head office in Sheffield, which is turning out to be rather good. @Morris: A couple of the people I work with really want to see the Princess, though I think I'll struggle to fit her in the pokey works car park. @Mattblack: That's a great looking kit you've built there.

Cavcraft Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 Drawing a cock and bollocks on any vehicle is for winners.
Rocket88 Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 I'd love this to be true.http://dailycurrant.com/2012/11/06/geor ... tes-obama/ The fact that people wouldn't be that surprised if it actually happened speaks volumes about Bush and his ilk, Thank f*ck the Yanks have seen sense, and returned the right man to office.
cort16 Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 And I was moaning about the amount of Glen Miller in my TR7
