I used to do their IT support, so I know a little about the systems they use, and they aren't quick

 

Fair enough. Their office is halfway between my house and work so it is quite easy for me to pop in.

Thanks, it certainly is. I hope to be receiving some money around December so that will be going towards the G-reg Sterling revival fund. Its the one car I never really driven, and it is in good condition all apart from the gearbox.

My dog seems to be going through a phase of good behaviour... it can't last and it is making me nervous... but I've decided to sit back and enjoy it.

 

I'll probably be posting in the grumps thread when I find whatever secret destruction has been going on.

My dog has started to work in a team with the cat now, The cat kills the mice in the garaden and the dog carries them into the living room to show them off to us. :?

As usual in the traffic there was a pedal cyclist weaving through the cars to be a bit quicker to work - and possibly be smug about it. Weaving between that car and van was not a good move - that towrope had him off a treat. NOT SO SMUG NOW ARE YOU :D Enjoy the gravel rash :evil:

Two happy hits for today!

 

1. Got the 635 tested, so it will be taking over daily duties from the Celica (£400 anyone?)

 

2. Last day at work today, before I start on the bank next week (nursing assistant on psychiatric units). Hope I get some shifts through!

Two good bits of news there, nice one.

 

Missus does bank work (not on psychiatric unit though) and it works well for her. She started out by just 'phoning in what hours whe could work and 'tramping' round various wards before finding one she really liked and they asked her to stay permanently.

 

Making me grin is Freecycle. Got rid of some stuff to worthy homes and scored a few useful things for myself. It's nice to deal with people where money doesn't change hands and people are reliable and friendly.

This is comletely random, and involves some maths. Feel free to skip past, but it made me grin.

 

First, the fibonacci series. This is the string of numbers that you get by starting with 0 and 1, and generating the next number by adding the previous pair together. This gives

0,1,1,2,3,5,8,13,21,34,55,89,144.......

 

Ok, so what? Well, all whole numbers can be expressed as a sum of fibonacci numbers, so think of a number (I did like Johnny Ball..) and try it.

70 = 55 + 13 + 2

 

Right. Why? Well, here's where it gets odd. If you take a figure in miles per hour, convert to a sum, then replace each number in the sum with the next number in the fibonacci series, you get a whole number approximation of the figure in Kilometers per hour.

 

70(mph) = 55 + 13 + 2

shift up -> 89 + 21 + 3 = 113(kph)

 

Also works for Kph to Mph if you shift down instead.

I'm sure I've mentioned it before but the council spent £40,000 on a cycle path across the entire length of the seafront here, twats still cycle in the adjacent road beleiving themselves to be too good at cycling to use the normal person cycle lane. Dicks.

After Freecycle and trying to give a mower away on there - stupid woman wouldn't walk 1/2 a mile to collect a good mower.

 

So I bunged it on eBay - buyer phoned before coming and paid me in cash. Only £10, but a tenner I wouldn't have had.

 

Oh, and I won £250 today on a quiz.

That is quite good, I'm guessing because the fibonacci numbers are consecutively 1.6ish (golden ratio rule) times bigger than the previous number, or atleast roughly that. I wish I knew stuff about maths still.

I suppose the fact that you got it right (you are decompsing into golden number base and then doing a register shift- same idea as power multiplication in binary) means you do still know some maths.

 

I noticed that your post is your 1,001st and is the 4004th post on this thread. That also made me grin.

A few years ago driving in London following a slow moving Transit, I noticed on the right one of those 'new age urban warrior' courier types on roller skates, facefull of piercings / tats, dreadlocked up, perched ready to employ the kerb as a starting block to most likely dart across my path, I gently braked, Catweasle goes for it, Transit brakes sharply and splat as Swampy bounces off one of Dagenhams filthiest rear quarters. To Pongos credit, although clearly dazed he impressively remained upright, this enabled me to direct a Sid James cackle right in his stupid shrapnel laden face as I passed.

There was a "cops with cameras" style programme on the other day featuring "Dazza and Fazza" the chirpy traffic cops. They filmed a cyclist going through a red light at night and riding on the pavement, they found he was also drunk. After refusing to give his details he ended up in court and ended up being fined £700 with £200 odd costs! Harsh, but fair.

 

My bit of good news is that I found a tenner blowing round in the garden yesterday afternoon. Yay! I spent a while looking for more money but didn't find any, boo!

Don't often poat here in this topic as I am a very grumpy bad tempered old sod.....so why am I posting then?

 

 

 

 

 

I has anew workshop, room for 4+ cars and all the tools :D:D I'm so bloody ecstatic it's unreal.sadly don't get the keys until the 1st of November
