What makes you grin? Antidote to grumpy thread

I'm on the train to work just now, the conductor has just announced "ladies and gentlemen, we apologise for the late running of this train today, the reason for this is a streaker was running through the tunnels at haymarket"

Where do you generally stand with garages (or builders) fucking things up?

A local garage snapped a glowplug they were changing on one of the Transit vans at work.  They phoned up to ask if it would be OK to take the head off to get it out.  I said no, we would live with 3 as it is going soon.  The van is only 3 and a half years old FFS surely we shouldn't be putting up with that shit.  We did put up with this as they are far more competent than the last garage.

If I fuck up a job for a customer I will fix it for free.  This isn't to say that all jobs are finished on time and on budget,  sometimes things take longer because the wood is rotten behind the paint or you dig down to find unexpected concrete.

Undoing a glow plug is a simple job. A child could do it. If it snapped then its the poxy vans fault. Have a heart

Oh totally! Utterings were had about the husband having too many cars too

Reminds me of "Aunty Wainwright" in Last Of The Summer Wine. Nobody came out of her shop without having "bought" something.....

Got back on good terms with my brother, we fell out some time ago over something really minor. Things over the past week made us think what a bloody silly thing it was to bust up. If I've learnt anything in the past week its that times too precious commodity.

I went looking in my shed for some tail light bulbs and found a heap, even some NOS ford ones

I also found a life time supply of 30 amp fuses

I've never even heard of Australux

Haven't watched the youtube vid, but it boils my piss to see "safety" covers shoved in 3-pin sockets. I know the boffins in the 40s already thought about it.

NO NEED!

This for me too, especially in public buildings. Those things should be made illegal.

I don't know what the transporter is, but pretty sure that's a Trabant on the back.

That looks like it's trying to be gravy, as in biscuits and gravy. No, not Hobnobs and Bisto, it's more like... savoury scones and a seasoned white sauce.

That’s a lovely location.

Only came across a Tipo in Harry Bucklands today. Took the grille, rear lights, weirdly pristine parcel shelf, rear wiper and speaker grilles for £20.

I love that place.

A dual grin today. Started off with the ebay buyer of my MR2 turning up at the agreed time,  paid up and took it away. Another parking space! Followed this up with a fresh MOT on the Saab 9-3 Sportwagen. Had this car in regular hack duties for 7 years now, a new record for me!

I've spent the last 18 months rebuilding relations with my sister after 20 years of ignoring/avoiding each other.  We're all the blood-relations each other has left so we've managed to agree that life's too short.  We are having brother-sister "dates" in order to make some new, nice, memories.  I do often feel like I'm walking on eggs a bit (and I'm very good at trampling them) but it's worth the effort.

In other news, I was late finishing work today because I had to take a delivery to Bowness, and the A592 is closed so there's a diversion.  So why is this a Grin?  Because I went to work in the Cadillac this morning, a Grin in itself; but also, my van was in need of an Italian tune-up, as all it does is go 5 miles at a time, meaning it never really gets up to temp.  The diversion sent me all the way to Kendal and into Windermere which is beyond Bowness, and back the same way.  Quite a lot of that is dual carriageway and when traffic's light, these are gorgeous roads.  Not that I saw much of the scenery, as I was trying to see what speeds I could do in each gear.... within the law obviously officer!*  Let's just say, my Transit has well and truly had its lungs cleared.

Excellent "crusty camper" in Windermere too, no photo as I was driving.

Weird coincidence that this was brought up on ARRSE today too :)

Could be but it's just a bit weird. Which is probably why so much was on the shelf really cheap.
