Went to a gig last night:

They finished with a live rendition of this song:

Might be slightly hoarse from singing along to the chorus of that one...

:D :D :D

EDIT: This video also just cheered me up. Ashens is just so caustic and cynical, it's amazing.

Thanks for the tip off. Found albums on Spotify! Sounds great.

How do you even do that to an engine?

Usually a lack of oil and a total lack of mechanical sympathy. In my time at the Dock I've driven back to the workshop a Ford flatbed wagon with the block cracked fully in half and a fork truck with a snapped conrod in it's Perkins 6 pot engine. Dockers are not gentle. Both were so fucked there was little more damage I could do although vibration was a bit of an issue with the Perkins!

I like Bristol. It's lost a bit of it's 70's charm* since they redeveloped the commercial center.

It's also one of few big cities that you can be driving along in the countryside and all of a sudden you're in the city in the space of a hundred yards or so (A370 down in through Ashton).

Picked up the keys to the new CMS_TOWERS today.

850 has already set curtains twitching. I expect CHAOS to start when the Council Estate starts sweating power all over the cul-de-sac.e77586b1be2c10c01dcbaf021c0d6030.jpg

Fuck driving in Bristol though, I like the place but hugely hate driving there

I'm with you on that.  Bristol is the only place outside of London where I'm guaranteed to get lost every time I drive there.

A late Corsa engine at a local garage.

Anyone who can keep running an engine until it does this needs to get a Bus pass

I am thinking of posting snippets again on the much photobucket decimated ''Tales of a Roadside Breakdown operative'' if anyones got the stomach for it.

Oh impressive!

On the flip side, if you are able to learn the city, you can get about and avoid the traffic most of the time.

Friends been working in Bordesley the last two days. She phoned a taxi and what showed up was apparently a gold 1987 Escort

Better trim those trees back to get the buses on the drive.

Minicabbing in a 15 year old two-litre petrol Saab? Yeah, sure, why not!

Belfast taxis (apart from ValueCabs, who paradoxically insist on recent premium models) are generally dreadful, ergo great for shiters. There was still a total nail of a Sierra hatch plying its trade around the Antrim road until not that long ago.

Bought some Stanley long nose mole grips a while back, disgruntled over their puny size I'd written them off in a way. Turns out today their narrow jaws are the dogs bollocks for gripping the flats on drop links. Other pairs I've got aren't quite narrow enough and don't grip with the tenacity that these little grips do.

Got to say Halfords lifetime guarantee is ace, I twisted a T55 socket undoing some stupid tight headbolts with a scaff bar and have generally abused my 3/8 ratchet and they swapped both tonight without a seconds hesitation with no receipt nonsense

This reminds me I must pop into my local branch, I found my big set has 2x 20mm 1/2 drive sockets in instead of having a 20mm and 21mm

Well...it's not complete unless it =0 then it's a cubic polynomial and it's got 1 root or three roots...

I actually knew the Rotorua advertiser in later years but never bought anything but a fake Rolex from him.

I love these old photos. The small saloon heading towards the camera behind the Aussie Cortina GT lookalike has me stumped. Bit like a Simca 1000 or NSU Prinz but don't think it's either.

Been freezing my nasty off the last three days delivering letters.

Today it's so warm I'm sat in the garden :-)

Looks fairly like a Simca 1000 - but agreed, the indicators and overriders don't quite seem to match pics of any 1000 I can find.

Possibly a NZ assembled version with some slight variations, to allow for local content?

Apparently it is a Simca 1000, probably built around 1962.

Well I put the post on moderns but it made me grin so hey ho! If I get told to fuck off that's fine but I want a little something to go right for me for once that's why I went for a brand new car.

Brand new is no guarantee of reliability bub, but I'll keep my fingers crossed for you :-)

Then it isn’t bubs problem and the garage can sort it.

Nice one Bub, hope it’s all you want mate.
