My daughter's just come from a driving lesson. Apparently some cyclist came tear arsing up the inside of the car, stopped at the lights and leant against a lamppost to answer his 'phone. Only he didn't lean against the lamppost as he missed it and went straight over!

On both Radio2 and 4 this week, there has been a trail for a competition for " Young brass of the year".

I can't be the only one to snigger at this, surely?

Topped by New Zealand radio The Rock FM's "NZ Next Top Hooker" contest

(Its about fishing)

I love it when the clients let me use their wifi connection, listening in to Rock Nights - every building site needs a mandatory Metallica song, shame theres so many bloody adverts though. Better than Planet Rock IMO the different time zone and Auckland road report tend to confuse people too

As mentioned elsewhere we had the 2cv annual duck race today. we then convoyed to the apple fair at Blackmore. Whilst picnicking behind the cars ( we had a special area) My sister and brother in law were kept amused by the comments from members of the public passing by.

Including ...

They have Brie! ( my favourite!)

Theyre not good in a flood!

My dad used to call them cheese boards -( my BIL nearly chased after them to ask why!)

Are they Citroens?!

My mum used to have one but it stopped!

it was a Kr175 - the earlier version of mine, which is a Kr200 - the four wheel version is a Tg500.

I saw a Jazz being used as a minicab the other day.

If a Jazz has alloy wheels, do you call them Jazz Mags?

top of the pops from 1982 again.

now its will smith singing men in black, galaxy defenders......

except he's wearing a dress and seems to have forgotten the words!

(ok it wasn't, but it was the original song that MiB sampled, pretty much in its entirety.... :-D )

That would be Forget me nots by Patrice Rushen - much sampled, but this is my favourite reworking -

Saw two Moggie Minors this morning - a Traveller and a saloon, both driven by young women - ace!

Looks like it was a good weekend for getting the young 'uns busy with the spanners - here's my 9 year old nephew Ethan changing discs and pads on his granny's Almera - he showed a genuine interest and asked loads of questions.

Granny was very pleased with the job and rewarded us with tea and tunnocks :)

Minor grump - the near side pads were worn down to the backing plates, granny had taken it to a local garage as it was making a grinding noise when braking, the so called mechanic, without even looking at it, told her it would be corrosion on the discs as she didn't use it much and it would be fine. Three cars from our family have been taken there for years, he's just lost a lot of business.

Can any of out northeast shiters recommend a garage near Durham / Chester-le-street for general repairs and mots ?

Yeah, ME!

Annfield plain isn't too far from chester-le-street and I do repairs, MoTs and a special line in doing the job properly and not ripping anyone off.

I bought a book via the Internet last week and began reading it at the weekend.  It was printed in 1970 but consists of parts of a Cyclopedia written in 1819/20.  It seems to be an actual copy of the original text and as a result the letter 's' is often written using a character that looks like an 'f'  This is somewhat lightening up what might otherwise be quite dry reading especially as I am managing to get Mrs and Ickle_Seth in hysterics by reading certain sections aloud.  For example....

"The defcriptions of a machine of this kind is given in Dr Defaguliers Experimental Philofophy, and Dr Hutton fays he has feen one, that profeffes to meafure fo fmall a portion as the fortieth part of a fecond, but that it cannot be ftopped with certainty within the tenth part of the propofed degree of accuracy."

Inidividual words that work out quite nicely are 'paffage', fuppofe, 'fubject' and 'fpiral fpring' comes up a lot too.

I can recommend Scary Garages, the owner displays a level of competence not often seen these days and has tolerance for really shit cars and their clueless owners.

Have been in a lot of pain today (washed the flaming car, always hurts!) so ended up in a 'stupid' mood. I often am when hurting, it's like the 'don't give a fuck' app gets turned up to 11...

Girl in the Co-op with shorts on, and may I say, the best legs I have EVER seen - brown and long and gorgeous, so I told her just that, asked her to marry me and then cried when she said 'no!'. She didn't actually, my winning charm strikes again! :)  Man, she is lovely!

Please note, the Bentley, while parked outside was not known about during this interview so its outcome had nothing to do with BGD or the slobbery dogs in it! :)

Chris Eubank has written a book about ethics.

If it's a sales success his next book will be about Kent.

County Durham is a horrible place which you would never want to visit on a holiday.  Just sayin'

(+eleventy on SoC Motor Co. highly rated and they may even accidentally buy cars they've worked on for later AS roffles (See: PRI-DAH, MGF)
