but I didn't think it really fitted in with the hippy lifestyle we were trying to have in Wales

Not true!   There were plenty of bubble Austins on the plains at Stonehenge Free festivals before the Dark Ages returned in the beanfields......

Cars that return to Earth as readily as 50s Austins are perfect hippy accessories!

Lovely car, though.

Either way, I'm in the paper and I'm not dead or in court. Although there is still time.

Thanks,

Sam

I didn't think it really fitted in with the hippy lifestyle we were trying to have in Wales, so sold it before we moved. Then bought a V8 Land Rover. Idiot.

I don't remember this car at all. Shame its got a bit the worse for wear. Hopefully there is enough interest in these to save it though although.

Good old VW quality had a Golf in for mot yesterday and it decided to shit itself on the emmisions test. When they revved it up the flywheel decided to make a break for freedom.

Dropped the undertray to find it probably wasn't the first time it had tried to self destruct.

There is a big spring inside the flywheel which found it's way out of the casing.

The gearbox got a bit chewed but it hasn't worn that badly so good to go again.

This is relevant to my interests because my Caddy's dual mass flywheel is shuddering at low revs. To be fair, it's probably the original and it's covered 175k.

I took a family friend to pick up his Kia which had minced its flywheel at 3 years old and 60k, not covered by the warranty.

I seem to remember Dolly saying that it was too expensive and too nice for Autoshite, hence the lack of posts about it on here.

Ironic really given the Bentley's, Rollers, BMWs, Mercs and Porsches we have now.

I was truly ahead of the curve it seems.

There sure is some interest in them.

This is what worries me... I was worried enough when I sold it, which was just before an All-Westy meet.

I passed my driving test 30 years ago today. What an old git.

Look at all these things I can drive.

And, presumably, some things that I can't?

No idea why the moped one is valid from 2015.

This appears to have happened today.

Nice one. I passed mine on friday the 13th, many many years ago.

Turns out you can pass your driving test in a 20 year old shonker that shakes like a shitting dog at tick over. Apparently the examiner remarked on the luxurious tiger skin seat covers and the all-over body massage.

Would a racer pay over a grand for one just to smash it up? Wish i had money to waste.

There is racing and racing. Hope it ends up like this.

My 190e is officially dead. I've now got a car that owes me over £3k which is, in essence, worthless.

To be fair, I saw that car do an actual cartwheel at the chicane at Goodwood in 2008, so that ended up all bashed in too! Celebrity driver. Owner not impressed! Annoyingly, I was cleaning my glasses at the time so didn't snap the incident. My colleague was looking the other way. Duh!

Could be worse, I've done this twice.

400 mile journey successfully completed in a 320d estate auto - not bad at what it does but by god the seat is uncomfortable!

Is it a modern BMW? That's partly why I bought the 175 quid Astra last week. Almost as cheap as hiring a car, and more comfortable for the 600 odd miles I'll be doing this weekend down to North Devon. Senator and Cavalier are both a bit broken so can't take either of those.

So I checked the Astra over this evening, put new wiper blades on, and filled the tank. This may have been a mistake as I'm sure there's a whiff of fuel there now, just hope the tank hasn't got a leak somewhere. Can't see any leaking out but will check again in the morning. An early start to avoid the traffic and an Olympic breakfast along the A303 will be in order, looking forward to it!

Been driving this tonight - the first time since I fell out with it last Saturday.

I removed the remnants of glass in the door and swept and hoovered all of the glass up inside, so it's all ready for the new glass to go in. Taking bets now on whether I can get this glass in, first time, without breaking it (or the main window next to it!!)

I've just taken custody of my son's cast off 530d estate and the drivers seat is spot on for me, much better for my aching old bones than the Polo it replaced.
