/\ I see the car was that bad you got shot and replaced it with a laguna.

I'd never use that Laguna as a daily.

I used my 605 and work's Berlingo while things were sorted; apart from the hideous fuel consumption, the Pug did fine. I wasn't prepared to use it full time because it needed a belt service and there were issues with the cooling system. 605 SVE 12 radiators are quite hard to come by.

I've got a top-level high-powered executive meeting to attend at Greggs the Bakers.  I'm going to be interviewing some sausage rolls for the role of 'lunch', and it won't be easy for them - I'm all 'Alan Sugar-where's-your-fucking-presentation?'  Probably going to video-conference in an eclair from the 3rd shelf down for a second opinion on the candidates.

Hmm, I am not looking good here.

Imp - Been in a lock up in bits for 5 years since I last even looked at it.

GT6 - In the garage waiting for me to be bothered to do a few small finishing bits before I MOT it.

Visa - In a garage in Keighley with a flat battery waiting for a wheel bearing to be fitted for its MOT.

Jaguar - Parked on drive with expired MOT.

Rover 220 - On the road but sounding pretty grim so am going to be biking it until I sort it. Have just ordered a (probably wrong) front pipe to mend the exhaust.

So, nearly 1 out of 5.

3/4. Volvo seems to be secreting oil again. I think I'll leave it to my tame mechanic.

Rover - fine, except water is getting into the boot, I think it's getting in under the spoiler. AGAIN.

Jag - fresh MoT, going well.

Merc - none the worse for my Dad putting petrol in it, thanks to Direct Line getting a misfuel bloke out sharpish.

5/5 with my fleet except the Rolls is on sorn waiting for the better weather. I had a bit of spare time today so decided to give the 806 some love. The poor old thing has been knocking away from the back end for some time. It is certainly more noticeable since binning the seats to use it as a van. A quick look on the ramp and the reason was obvious, the rear axle bushes have seen better days.

First up take the bottom bolt out of the shocks and remove the springs.

Having a ramp makes these jobs look way too easy. Next remove the front pivot bolt to drop the axle down enough to get at the bushes.

They are rather fucked but at least that makes it a lot easier to remove the old one's. Cut through the outer case and drift the old ones out.

A couple of old sockets and a headbolt to press the new ones in.

£17 and a couple of hours later no more clonking from the rear end. Hopefully it is now fit for a trip to Paris next month collecting a bike or maybe 2 on the way back.

Hyacinth was looking in need of fuel this morning on the way to work, so I bunged in thirty quid, which should cover a week or two of local work.  When I started the engine again I realised I'd all-but filled her up!  Small tank on these little Rovers then...

A line has been crossed at work, not by me, so now we all shall suffer.

No more free storage so expect many items for sale over the next fortnight including, but not limited to, three cortinas and many parts.

Following on from MOT based nonsense http://autoshite.com/topic/23239-sss-servicing-stop-shenanigans/, I've got to replace the N/S bottom ball joint.

Do I replace the whole arm for £40ish, or just the ball joint at £15 ish?

Ball joint involves drilling out 3 old rivets (unless its been done before, not even checked), but it's only 3 more BFO bolts to do the whole bottom arm.

Any one solution better than the other, or is it just whatever my wallet can stand? In either scenario I'll be doing it in the rain at the weekend with the aide of axle stands and tea,

I would do the arm. Less messing about and not having to deal with rusty bolts etc.

Does £15 get you a "quality" balljoint,or cheap shite?

Same with the arm,If you are planning on keeping the vee-hicle then I'd go for the better quality part thats within budget

Oh yay, I saw that Mk2 Cavalier saloon again today AND I had my camera AND I was on foot!

That's a perfect picture of it completely obscured by silver cars.  Absolutely perfect timing.  Chod-spotting is HARD.

I am 2/3 but i need to adjust the tappets and fix a wheel bearing on the Reliant next week so i may well be 1/3 soon.

Do the whole arm - some of those rivets can be a complete C unit to punch out - Arm off job for sure

I cannot actually get £20 of fuel in the Nippa. The tank must be even smaller than a 2CV tank!

One.

Yes that's right, I have one car that works.

Well, it worked yesterday, anyway. I'll find out about today when I find the damn keycard.

Spoke too soon. I had to do emergency engine repairs so I had something to drive home. Update later after tea/bath.

rover - everyday runner but the droplinks need doing again cos they are chattering over Nottingham's plowed  farm tracks potholed roads.

jaguar - dunno its sat looking sad on the outlaws drive and is on SORN i think the other half has moved it recently, it might* still work.

metro - battery flat and soppin' wet inside so while it rusts away it can stop where it is an think about its attitude.taxed but not working.

mini - battery flat, clutch sticking (think its the slave) SORNed and dumped in the garage while it too ruts away. definitely not working, little twat...

1 from 4, what a beginner.....

25l tank on Daihatsu Mira/Cuore so I'd assume similar on the Nippa

Whilst waiting for my taxi to arrive this morning I saw a citroen C6. Not that uncommon until I admit that I'm in Saudi at the moment.

Petrol is 15p a litre. Wish I could bring some home with me.

Not wanting to count chickens, but I appear to be joint leading with 3/3 at the minute.  I even fixed the clock on the Pretzel and 'fitted' a tape player into the kia.

Then I started bidding on an alfa romeo with an electrical fault.

1/4 in 3...2...

0 out of 5 cars working.

1 out of 5 cars chaps.

It nearly overheated going up a big hill earlier so I've retarded the timing and put some super unleaded in. I think I could hear it pinking.

It's not as bad as I thought it would be, the heater is actually alright.

It cruises around town quite spritely but really doesn't like getting hammered up to 60mph.
