Small help. A few days ago whilst running back to Chez_Mo after lobbing some K-seal into the expansion tank, I came across a broken down Daewoo Matiz or Kia Picanto or summat in the middle of the road. I knew I could help move the car out of the way of traffic so sprang into action. The lady said the clutch had failed, the clutch was nearly on the floor, I sat in and managed to get it moving by moving the gear stick towards 1st. Then I managed to get into gear and move it to safety. Her husband said that the clutch had only been replaced a few days previous so looks as if something hadn't been properly fitted/replaced.

I like helping people.

Wheels on fire, rolling down the road...

WD40 fixes most things. Don't apply to friction materials unless there's too much friction. Note: It also smokes impressively when applied to a lump of scalding hot metal. Fun!

A nice surprise today when I drove my ZX TD first time since spring, it was full of diesel!

£25? Blimey Trig. Forget the Sierra, get them for sale on the Cosworth lickers sites and dream of how to spend your new found wealth.

Just need some shiters to do a relay mission to the North East and I would be all over that. Just no time :(

I think I'm losing the plot.  Last night I manged to leave the passenger door of the Yank van wide open all night, with the keys in said door.  Lucky I live in a quiet area (and that it didn't rain last night).

Amazing how much surface corrosion you can find on a Peugeot 205 when you really start looking.  Jenolite and a variety of brushes to the rescue...

Project 306 update:

Oil leak fixed (pretty much, it's not coming from the sump, therefore not something I've done)

New plugs fitted. made no difference. Gone through and pulled and cleaned as many connections that I could see, but still sounds like it's running on 3.  Arsemangles.

Gonna have to pay for someone with a code reader to reset the light, so with a bit of luck they'll find the fault. probably something simple....and cheap...I hope.....

Looking for my 1850's keys today, couldn't find them. Turned out they were in the car on the driver's seat, it only has two wheels and no brakes anyway so if somebody actually manages to steal it they've earned it.

Just got back after a weekend away in the Rolls 270 miles and got an average of just under 14 to the gallon. It does need a replacement viscous coupling for the fan though as it overheats in traffic without the heater on full

Forgot to mention that shiter AndyW201 popped round to the unit today to drop off some BL branded centre caps, the sort that push in from the back, for free and nothing.  Which was nice of him :). Weirdly, while they did fit his Allegro steels they don't fit the Princess steels.  That's not too much bother since they look super in the Lotus alloys which seem to have a marginally larger centre bore than the Princess steels, though only just not big enough.  I'm going to try warming up the centre caps (plasti-chrome, got to be careful!) to see if I can get them to wiggle in, the difference in size has got to be a fraction of a millimetre, they're such a frustratingly close not-fit at the moment.

AndyW201 was just as personable as I've come to expect of people on this forum too, even if he was wearing a tee shirt with a VW Golf on it and driving a grey Ford Something-or-other.  One of these days I'll meet someone off this forum and they'll be a right front-bottom, I've never known so many residents of a forum be so decent to each other in the real world.

Had to go to Norwich this afternoon, and as it was a nice day I took the Hyosung.  I'm liking this bike more and more the more I ride it.  It's still a bit "all mouth and no trousers" with its big-bike looks and sound, but now I have more of a handle on what it can and can't do I frequently find myself banging it down into 4th and overtaking slower traffic that I previously would have sat behind.  It handles really nicely too - it's heavy but very stable, and I actually feel more confident slinging it into a fast bumpy corner than I did on the Cagiva, which had a tendency to hop about a bit on bad surfaces.  Sadly I'm now very much a fair weather biker so it probably won't get used much more now until the spring, but it's definitely a keeper.

I've now got a week off work - I'm going to try and get away for a couple of days at the end of the week, but that still gives me a few days for fettling shite.  I got the fuel gauge working on the Subaru van yesterday (bad contact on the top of the sender, which is quite exposed), and also discovered that it has grease nipples on the steering pivots which I hadn't previously noticed.  One of them accepted grease readily enough, but the other three are completely fecked, so I've ordered some new ones off eBay - hopefully that'll make the steering a bit less stiff.

Been doing a bit of tidying on the Yank van - I'm going to run it up to my welding mate on Tuesday and see what he's going to charge me to do the awkward bits of weldage that it needs.  Then I can hopefully get it MOT'd, although having just forked out for a holiday and 200 quid to MOT the blue Mondeo my bank account is rather empty at the moment.  The Carina is booked in for a test on Weds as well - hopefully that won't need too much.

One of the jobs I really need to pull my finger out and get done is sorting the passenger door on the Innocenti.  I need to find a way of welding the door skin back on to the frame at the bottom where it's come away, which will probably entail making up some sort of brackets to join one to t'other.  Fortunately this will a. involve only spot welding and b. be hidden inside the door, so hopefully within my limited abilities to sort.

The Volvo is continuing to deteriorate, and I'm really not sure what to do about it.  A chunk of front valance fell out today - it looked like it had been held on by the paint for some time.  The main chassis is still sound, and three of the four jacking points are still solid enough to take the car's weight without looking like they're about to crumble into cornflakes, but there's an awful lot of frilly bits round the edges, including quite a bit of bubbling round the screen, which is rather worrying.  Once again I've stretched myself so thin this summer that I really haven't got round to doing anything useful to the car (apart from fitting a new front caliper and breaking the indicator stalk), and I shudder to think what another winter is going to do to it.  I'm worried that by the time I do eventually get round to it it's going to be beyond economical repair.  :?

Phall is a beautiful curry I am a big fan of spicy food, we were at a curry house and I was having my Phall, a mate of mine asked how hot it was so I let him have a nice big spoon full, he ate the spoon full and his face went bright red and he downed his drink, at least you ate a plate of it

Only a fiver? About 20 years ago I'd at least want an Ayrton to do that. I done it, but CUNTING HELL!! What's going on? My cock's on fire. Was the firiest post-curry piss I ever had, never mind the next day stingin' in the ring. #oohyabass

For quite a while now, the possessed Rover felt like having maybe half its horses left and returned 16-18 OMGMPG on a run.

So clearly not all was well.

Typically for it, it refused to respond to any attempts to improve it by setting carbs, adjusting mixtures, etc.

Also, when I stomped the pedal fully carpetward, it opened the throttles maybe 2/3 of full travel.

So finally, I decided to give up and leave it at a reknown P6 sanatorium for a week.

What I got back, doesn't feel like my car at all. It never drove like this. It's everything I ever expected a P6 V8 to be and it is

what must have been a true supercar in 1970. For the first time, I understand, why it has four disc brakes.

And best of all, I can now bully other cars with it.
