OFF TOPIC

We took Blake to the vets, he's been under the weather lately and not quite himself.  Glad we did as it turns out he's got a bit of a dicky ticker.  A course of meds to see it improves things and instructions to spoil him a bit as he's lost a bit of weight.  Best of all was that he was complimented on his overall health, astonishment expressed at the fact his hips are still mostly okay and he's the oldest German Shepherd the vet has seen.  Feeling really good about that decision to adopt him and look after him, it really has given him a new lease of life.

NORMAL SERVICE RESUMES

I've been starting repairs on an MGB and found the A pillar and bulkhead aren't attached to each other on one side.

re- a bentley brooklands..... if it is something that you have always wanted then go for it!!

you are a long time dead and you cannot take you're money with you unless you plan on getting buried in a gold coffin or similar.....

imho i think the brg paintwork looks better on one of these, a the red ir very red.

but the colour on one of these is irrelevant as condition is the most important thing.

look at them, have a tootle about and and then decide which one you like the most.

DO IT!! - though i cannot be held responsible for you ending up in the workhouse/poor house if you did buy a proper bentley.

Had a hunt and cav is on eBay at £500 reserve not met. Shows mega LP on bonnet

Also he is second owner so not one owner from new then. Looks like he deals and I reckon he bought it for £400 odd and did the work and now thinks it is £900.

Might have to have a hunt around for another.

I'm off to look at an old English dollop tomorrow (2:00 p.m.) that I can't afford, have nowhere to store it and it will DEFINITELY bankrupt me. But I want it!

Bit worried about my health at the mo, been feeling 'unwell' and out of sorts as well as all my long term health issues so fearful I may not be long for this world (cor, doesn't that sound dramatic - shall I accept my 'Oscar' now or wait?) so it's now or never.

It's had a new steering rack, spheres, accumulators, brake pump, DIM and all new Avon tyres of the correct type and is from Specialist cars who have serviced it for the last couple of years. It 'sounds' like a nice one but it's green and I really dislike green cars!

There's also a red Brooklands for sale locally for a bit more dosh but while I love the colour I'm worried that it has seen little use for the past three years and only 8 miles in total last year.

Is the green one,

Any thoughts on either from the collective?

If it was me I would go for the green one if it is as good as described. The red one is a private seller and I think a bit over priced. You only live once and to be honest if you do low mileage there is little chance of them presenting you with massive bills. I have had my spirit a year now and the only issues have been stuff that was wrong with it when I bought it. I have heard that the Mulsanne with active ride is the best of all of them so bite the bullet and go for it. They can live outside with a decent car cover and pump it full of waxoyl every year.

Went to change the springs on the 306 today as it was too low for my liking and found;

  • The wrong springs for the car were fitted
  • The strut bearings put in up side down
  • As a result of the other two, the shocks are both knackered

I've driven this car twice now, and I'm struggling to remember why I bothered starting all this.

Buy the green one.

If you're really not long for this world ,when you get to the Pearlly Gates and St Peter asks what car you drove so he can put you in the right section, because I know for a fact that's how it works.

You can go in with the RR and Bentley lot Keith Moon,John Bonham, Elvis, Frank, Freddie Mercury, John Lennon etc or with the Hybrid Honda lot........

Wonder which ones have the most fun?

Unless you want mega mpg a petrol one should be fine and more plentiful, as they're pretty frugal anyway.

Everything everyone told me about MGBs, rust and bodges is true.  I take back every bad word I said about the rust on the Princess, it wasn't galloping at all in comparison.

It's in Aberdeen 120 miles away so a fecal deposit was out of the question.

It had to be cash.

If you're planning to keep it and reckon it'll go on for a while longer then I don't see why not.

They are basically the same car, but iirc the Skoda has a bigger boot. That said, that Toledo has bigger injectors ;)

hence my confuzzlement

I'd go for the one with better clutch and shocks ;)

If you do want to change now is the time, before spending on the Skoda.
