Got my 'recall' notice this morning for the mighty Honda. Airbag may kill you in an accident.... nice.

To be honest, I knew it was coming as all Japanese cars use the same component and it was on the news already about Toyotas.

^  Thank fkcu the "airbag broken" light has come on in mine then!

^^ Loving the LE Velo. Side valve flat twin is definately a win!

the cheeky fuckers at pistonheads binned a link in one of my threads from a while back - saying " dont use threads to promote your blog"

fair enough.

Wednesday this week they made the thread "Thread of The Day" and presented it as something they'd been involved in.

They are cunts on there, I wouldn't bother about it.

In other news, I'm not swapping the Beetle for an Imp as I've been offered a decent cash price, which will allow me to buy a much better Imp than the one offered - as now I seem to be set on getting an Imp.

The V5C for the van I bought last Saturday arrived in the post today.  That's impressively rapid, especially with a bank holiday in the way.

I love ghostbusters. Not sure about this all new one coming out next year but at least they didn't base ecto1 on a Nissan Leaf or something.

If it's set now then if you think about it it's kinda correct - it's still a 25 year old Cadillac!

KV6 McSterling has passed it's MOT but only by a thread. There are a few worrying spots such as the sills which have been welded 20 billion times before. It has 7 advisories;

001. Brake disc worn/pitted or scored but not seriously weakened rear.

002. Tyre worn, close to legal limit front (both) I'll get this sorted as a matter of urgency.

003. (Oil leak)

004. Suspension arm balljoint cover deteriorated, ut oreventing ingress of dirt offside front.

005. Rear wheel bearing has slight play nearside.

006. Body has slight corrosion (both sills)

007. Body has slight corrosion.

Well loaded up the Venerable Forester with wheel chair, walking frame, food to last a bloody year, 4 huge bags of clothes and 2 parents, my old fozzer was laden with burden but 200 miles she went and emptied her cargo at Pendine Sands, and after a Coffee and a Jammy Dodger, I took her all the way back to Walsall. Ran like a bloody dream, and I was rather surprised the amount of 'new' cars on the hard shoulder bonnet up waiting for assistance, whilst my good old soldier ate up the miles 400 mile round trip and not a single wheeze twinge or squeak, Have to love the old Fozzers

Mo, that's a pass, and apart from the front tyres I'd consider the other bits a to do list that needs to be completed in 12 months.

You now have a legal Rover to waft around in - enjoy.

This.  Great news: Lord Sterling back in a Sterling means the world is turning on its correct axis again!

Looking forward to this leading directly to an improvement in the weather, the Chinese stockmarket and the quality of Saturday night TV.

"Body has slight corrosion" is hardly an advisory is it? Surely they put that on every car they test. I can understand warning you about the sills but the body itself will never be a fail until it's throwing jagged bits of rust at pedestrians.

Just had the chip in the windscreen fixed. Same guy from national windscreens who did the fiat's in June. Some sort of double sided clamp to inject the resin, then a uv lamp to cure it. About 20 mins.

Jammie B :)

You have fallen into the 'repair quota'%age...

Pressing with heel of hand "See, sir ,could have happened at any moment!!" - face of mock horror - is kept for the other 85% of call outs [luckily I have one in the van]...

Oh yes, EX repairer here.... ;)

Aye.  When the Jenolite/Hammerite dries!  Might do it at Chumbobley on the morrow...  :)

Some of the inner mounting gubbins on our new A4 front bumper is missing, so addition (reinstating? we have a switch) of foglights and headlamp washer delete might have to wait a bit. Argh...

You fool. You took the plastic cladding off! It's only there to hide the rust:-)

£10 xs for the repair this time ( fiats insurance has zero). What's the chance of them having a replacement screen for either a w124 coupe or X1/9?

Today has been a productive day, though, I did nearly get crashed into by a pikey, and when I asked what the fuck he was all about, he said "do you want to buy a tv"....

First I sorted the 18s exhaust after it fell off over a month ago, I've been driving it around like this and it's been horrific, now it's quieter than ever, I also treated it to an oil change.

I then sorted the timing on the Beetle with a strobe, it runs pretty well now, and it's a good thing because there's a guy coming to see it tomorrow who seems really interested in buying it.

Finally, I adjusted the clutch on the Cortina as it's been slipping a bit and drove it around for a couple of hours - I love this car.

I want your green Beetle.  If it were a jellymould SAAB in a similar hue I'd want that too.  Must be something about bright green jellymould cars.  Ooo, imagine if it were a Sierra in that colour!

Hopefully it won't be my Beetle tomorrow, I appreciate the history of them but just can't gel with it.
