On my way home from Aldi where I was mostly buying 'metal paint' and Berliner Kindl pilsner I was most surprised to see a tidy looking Stanza hatchback :)

The Princess started and ran fine this afternoon... well, as fine as a four cylinder car can with only three cylinders firing.

Spent most the day searching suitable cheap cars on ebay, auto trader etc until my head hurts, not helped by the realisation that my 156 is worth a lot less than I paid for it 18 months ago. It seems my love affair with Alfa may be a brief, financially painful one.

Hmm, got to take the old dear and step dad 200 miles to Pendine sands with wheelchair, zimmer frame, food to last a month, and everything else, on friday. then come back again, I sense Friday will be a long fuck off day - Half of which will be listening to a pair of grumpy old fuckers rambling on about immigration and the Woar, cars going too fast, and regular stops for 'I need to relieve myself'

Bah! All in a 15 year old Forester, which I fear will have its life shortened by the shite they want to load up with

This happened on the way to work this morning and means I've put over 50,000 miles on the car.

I shall treat the car to a $26 oil change on my way home tonight as my way of saying thanks

Ten minutes in to advertising my car I get a crap offer. An hour in and I get 'what's your best price?' question.

Have you been offered any swaps yet? Mobiles, xboxes, wifes etc?

So, I went to pick my daughter up and my Vectra packed up right outside the pub doors. Had a coke, played the bandit, won and it still wouldn't start.

Rang my lad, who's bought his (very nice) bird round for the first time, so she leaves to go home and as my son is 80 yards from our door on his way to me with a fault code reader, and his girlfriend has left, what do you think happened?

The bloody car started and I drove back home. Because Vectra. Sigh.

It's sods law, 90% of the time people have asked me to look at their car because of a problem, it hasn't shown itself, its usually noises, bangs etc though

And....I had a deal lined up tonight, Vectra plus a little cash for a ZX6R that was 'really good' which he rode to mine.

It was so 'really good' it was shit, so I uncharacteristically lobbed him £20 for his time and bade him farewell

Let me guess , mini carbon indicators , tiny plate , stubby can and a leaking fork seal / seized calipers.

Did it have a bent frame?

No side stand, no any stand, no MOT, fork seals leaking, seats badly covered, been re-sprayed and you had to drag the throttle back as far as possible to stop it revving to about 2 grand at tick-over. I knew about the lack of MOT and the paintwork, but not the rest.

Clearing out an old phone I found this pic of the lump in a BMW I serviced a while back. What a machine that was, didn't realise till I opened the bonnet and then saw the little badges behind the Hofmeister Kink....

I saw a DeLorean today pootling through Wroxham.  Looked a bit incongruous.  Although of course Wroxham is home to the Sabberton Omen, and even a DMC-12 looks mundane next to that.

Speak of the devil! I saw one going into Manchester on the A57 today.

I've got a picture of one of those too, but the bonnet opens the opposite way, why is that?

Added an extra window to the transit (an e bay find from a scrapped transit minibus)

I've never tried this before, some tense angle grinding, paint and part of a washing line later (looped around the inner part of the rubber seal)and I coaxed the seal through

et voila...

My wife put "Pacific Rim" on last night, and there is clearly a Ford Ka on the golden gate bridge when it gets destroyed at the beginning of the film. I can't comment on much after that because I fell asleep.

Pacific rim. Lol. Sounds like some kinky skin flick set in Honolulu.

Billy I am in awe of your generosity. I would have remained pleasant, but would have stuck to my £20.

I doff my cap to you.

Bah! :( My swapping of Merc 4 Rover didn't quite go as smoothly as I'd thought. Merc got up to storage yard Ok, paid my advance to them, filled up the KV6 with coolant as I noticed the expansion tank was empty, reconnected battery and let the Rover for a bit whilst I swapped stuff from Merc to Rover.

As I set off the battery seemed Ok on the Rover, then on the way down I'd decided to pass by the local petrol station to fill up when I noticed the temperature had risen to just under DANGER ZONE, then jusy outside the petrol station it rose into the DANGER RED ZONE.

I switched it off to let it cool down, I filled up with some petrol, paid and then the car wouldn't start. It sat there clicking away. A chap in a BINI pulled up beside me and I asked him if he wouldn't mind helping me jumpstart my car, he pulled open the bonnet of his BINI where we couldn't find the battery, then I found it sealed under some cover. There was one positive outlet sticking out but the negative was nowhere to be found, eventually I found what looked like the negative outlet and connected up. Nothing. We gave up and I called on the RAC whom I'm about to go and meet now.

Sigh... :(

Well, after Rovers little cough at the petrol station, a man came out in a tow truck, he refilled the coolant system which I didn't realise was so dry, he jump started the Rover and followed me for a bit to see that it didn't overheat, which it didn't. I signed some paperwork and off I went. I decided thst instead of parking the thing up, I'd drive it to Mahmouds garage and leave it there until tomorrow when the MOT test is on. It has a new battery, will have its coolant flushed and hopefully a new MOT certificate. Then, I've just gotta use the thing.

I am now the director of two limited companies. Neither of them actually do anything yet but I can tell people I'm a company director, which, after I pulled up in a shonky ZX, is bound to impress.

A friend has the Dacia Logan and it has the same engine and running gear as my wifes Clio (even down to the MediaNav system, just with a different colour scheme). Only real differences I found between the Clio and the Logan was the ride quality (the Clio is on 17 inch low profiles), the badge and the £4,500 difference in the price !!!!!

My dad has got one of those insights and he loves it. He has doubled the mileage in the 18 months he has owned it with no problems at all and averaging 50 to the gallon.

we noticed the nutty prices looking at jazz

we looked at two under 4k 2010 plate

one had 120k the other 131k

two others the same and under 70k one was 6 the other 6.5k :o

madness

hence trying to do the sandero or the pixo - cheap and if she stops driving then not much ££ lost if at all

its only a shopping trolley at the end of it - 7 series e32 would be ace but 200hp and 16 foot long she would be singing with the angels earlier than expected
