That sounds like a highly successfully couple of days, I foresee a bright future for HGF Budget Chauffeur Services.

Qualz. I've been looking at these rollers too but mainly beige ones. that blue is much more appealing even if the paint is fucked.

That is awesome. As the kids say Wel Jel.

Missus moog drove civic. Almost crashed it. Declared it was alright but not as fast as Saab. In fact she wants to run civic for a year then buy a fast car again.

Now all I need is a bike. I am looking for a mid 80's Honda CB125 superdream. My mate had one back in the day and it just looked so right I think I need one to get me back on 2 wheels.

This looks quite tidy, starting issues notwithstanding (it's a 4-stroke Honda - how hard can it be?)

Alternatively you could go for the earlier version - these have the advantage of an unrestricted engine so go a bit better, but you do have to contend with 6-volt electrics and a cable-operated front disc.

While digging some Escort alloys out of the back of the garage I thought I would just feel* the back arches to see how bad they were. Bugger it's definitely gone on both the inner and outer, I then remembered how much filler I literally slapped on last time :-(

Thought I was check the mk2 ones as they've never been welded, bugger again they're going as well just not as bad, yet

That GP has been sold it seems, popped up on FaceAche earlier.

Weren't those CB125 twins 18BHP, before they morphed into CBT bollocks 12BHP restrictions?

Yes a whole throbbing 18 Tarmac rippling bhp. Even after an FS1E DX and it's 45*mph top speed my 125 Twin felt like a grown up bike and was the first bike I used as a courier in 1981, I chopped it against an RS250 after 6 months and to be honest the 250 wasn't that much quicker but was a bit more comfortable for my lanky 17 year old frame.

I used a decent machine polisher for the first time today and I think I've found my new favourite power tool.  Now all I can smell is polish and, incidentally, all anyone else near me can smell is polish.

The Flavia's 50 year old paint is much improved as are many of the very deep scratches in the roof.  As a result we're not repainting the whole car, instead we're going to repair the various stone chips and deeper scratches but keep some of the well-earned age.  Verdict is still out on whether or not it's going all dark grey or keeping the two tone.

Half-and-half shot, polished on the left of the image.  Unfortunately I dropped my good camera and terminally broke the lens on it so I had to rely on my fuzzy phone-cam.

Also, does anyone know what this sticker is for?  I'm sure I remember it being asked by someone else with one on a different car and it was for either a garage or a brand of oil.

As I appear to be hoarding fiestas I can't possibly let them go :-)

A ten-mile section of roadworks on the A9 (French autoroute, not SVM-proving-ground) this evening yielded three breakdowns (Mercedes S-Class, Peugeot 300000007/8/?, E39 5-series), one accident, and A TWO-HOUR DELAY, during which the traffic moved not one inch. The family in the car in front had a picnic in the road, and the truck driver to my right fixed a leak on his diesel tank.

I've never seen anything like it.

Of course it didn't move an inch! You're in France, they would have moved a centimetre, they spit on your imperial measures!

Never really took to Hondas at the time, especially as I was a two stroke fan. I started off on a C70 then progressed* to a KH125 that felt like a rocketship and one achieved an indicated 81mph. Wasn't it the RS250 that had a single cylinder twin port engine, possibly from an XL250?

That's the one,at the time they were very popular with couriers, even the Post Office in Central London had a fleet of them. At the time I looked at getting a Super Dream but the RS was about £12 a month cheaper on the HP, once I'd passed my test I started doing long distance jobs and that RS would have the throttle pinned back from Staples Corner to Manchester most days. It never went over 90 but would stay at 85 all day.

I had a car spotlight above the headlamp and an extra loud air horn , god I was an obnoxious twat,no wonder I was always getting knocked off it.

Off to Hull just now..... is that good news for Hull? or a really good reason to spend the day in Grimsby!

Big car weekend coming up. Avensis will be collected tomorrow by a Toyota breaker from Birmingham; he is offering close enough to my asking. Then Tetleysmooth will be collecting the Accord on Sunday.

This means the MPV will be pushed into permanent frontline duty. I really must do something about the hole in the downpipe (the internets are yet to unearth a replacement). So far Gun Gum, a bandage and a bean tin with Jubilee clips have done tap-all. The next stage is some JB Weld.

This is what happens when you polish your fingers.  Numpty  :-D

This also reminds me of the time my sister thought there was a grass roots campaign to make Llanelli more shiny after she saw a bunch of graffiti saying 'GET THE POLISH OUT'.

Took the 405 to a local pug specialist today. Up on ramps and definitely the rear arm bearings.

He reckons a good 4 hours work to fit a recon axel at £40 plus vat.

So would put the repair about £650 quid once fluids enter equation.

Alternatively the guys who supply axle will fit for free but are 250 miles in East Devon.

Hmmm decisions decisions

That rings a bell, think my mate had one about 15 years ago:

IF they are the same as on a BX (and I have a nagging doubt they are different?) and you fancy a trip to Wales, I'd do them for a lot less than £650!

Got talking to a guy today at work who bought a Mercedes "Signature" approved used S Class. 2011 car, low mileage, eleventy hundred point check, the usual bollocks. In the 10 weeks he's owned it:

  • Water pouring in through the passenger side inside of the bulkhead. Fixed, twice, but it's doing it again
  • Battery keeps going flat. Unresolved.
  • Starts when it feels like it. Unresolved, unrelated to the above.
  • Driver's seatbelt catch won't stay in.
  • Heated seats u/s now
  • Chews through AdBlue (they all do that, sir)

Makes me glad my Dad talked me out of the one I was looking at. M-B need to give their dealers a massive kick in the hole for not checking these things, and Mercedes themselves need to stop pissing about with active suspension experiments and make the cars not "be shit".

Dealer name and shame : Isaac Agnew Mercedes, Belfast.

My wife's uncle has a 59 plate S320 that he is px'ing for a ML.I asked my FiL how much the car was,he replied that the car cost over 70 grand new,so he thought i could get it for a bargain 20k.  Kin hell.

When i got home i had a look on Autotrader 59plate S320 £13995.

Who needs friends when family would do you for 6 grand.

With all the excitement of buying the silver spirit I totally forgot about the bid I put on a Renault 5 at copart. I am now the proud owner of this little gem.

Anyone got a n/s/f door either that or want to give me £200 for it. It's a cat D so just bosh a door on or kick the dent out and you are away. They are delivering in the next week or so. £38 to have it delivered from Bristol it would cost me more than that in fuel to go get it
