Not much waiting about tonight.

Just ten minutes of terror to go...

Two minutes and counting 🤞

Yup, it's about now I become convinced the reason it's taking so long is because they're inputting 137 separate failure items.

And they're going to make me walk home in the rain.

Ah bugger.

Rear arch and floor join - though funnily enough, NOT the side I'd thought was dodgy - and a perished flexi.

Ah well. Could be worse on a 26 year old car.

An appointment with Robert the welder beckons, then...

I thought you’d got a pass from your previous post. Commiserations but doesn’t sound too bad.

Yes, I celebrated then had to withdraw!

Heh, no sadly that was a general sound of apprehension and foreboding. Hard to convey in text!

Nope, not too bad a result at all - plus I didn't have to walk home, so some congratulations are probably in order...

Dragged this out from where it’s been parked under the trees. Covered in bird shit, tree sap, and sand oddly. Needed to take it for a run out to keep the battery charged and blow out the cobwebs, so I took this to do the weekly shop instead of the GT86.

Every time I drive this thing I forget how nice it is to drive, even for the most boring trips.

That's all over Facebook today. Looks like it was the Maestro that was set alight and the Cavalier may have survived. Conspiracy theories abound as it apparently went up just after the council announced a desire to build more homes despite not having any land to do so. Shame it's gone but realistically it was just going to sit there forever deteriorating and to non-car people it's nothing more than an eyesore.

"This was one of those places people said they'd visit one day, but now it's likely too late"

Yeah,  to be fair it was only briefly there for 20 years,  on a normal road in a normal town. Not exactly a deep sea dive to the titanic was it.

Fuck me.

Rocked up to a shopping centre and this poor bastard of a crow was tangled in the net and bleeding quite a bit. There was also an injured pigeon on the floor.

I ran down to Asda and bought some scissors, by the time I got back the pigeon had exploded after being run over. I cut the net and freed crow-boy despite his best attempts to peck me and the scissors.

I've already gotten some ULEZ charges this morning so I'm now wondering if I'll get a bill in the post for cutting their bird net. Also curious if I now have bird AIDS as I got a fair amount of crow blood on me.

RIP injured pigeon. A swift explosive death was probably the best outcome.

Lovely day for it

I see what you did there.

Hopefully you won't get one.

Nice one on helping out the poor wee bugger though.

Noticed in the car park that one of the exhaust mounts had come off the back box.  Cue knocking the whole 30 miles home.

Spotted that it was beautiful sunshine again so cracked out the welder quickly.

You can probably tell the point it stated hailing again was the point I was underneath looking at it with half the tools I needed.

So I stuck on a couple of lumps of pigeon shit and put it away again for another day when it's not hailing sideways.

Dad and Lad time. Front pads and discs on his astra.

Pads would have lasted a few thousand miles more but discs had a tremendous lip.

Everything was cleaned and suitably lubricated. Even the screws holding the discs came undone easily.

Surprisingly grot free for a 2009 car. My lad was tasked with cleaning the caliper carrier for the new pads. He had to nip to Wigan to get a replacement wheel trim - when he got back he cleaned the trim with soapy water.

Shocked I assumed he was washing his car - I asked him if he was - his reply was "I've done enough today" 🤣

Calling all number plate nerds: the Volvo in this image has what looks like UK plates in a weird letter and number format.  Spotted in Canterbury yesterday.

Diplomatic plate. A much more common sight around London.

Very uncommon to see them parked legally too.

I think I've finally decided its time to get rid of the Westfield. Its now been sat in the garage 6 years and untouched since lockdown, even before COVID it only used to do a few miles a gear. I've barely used it in 10 years now

Just need to decide if I try and get it running and MOTd or just get rid as is (as always I guess it will come down to money and motivation!)

Photos before it got dusty and cobwebby!
