You should be able to do it either backed onto a pair of ramps or jacked up on axle stands, can you see any bolts that may be holding it on?

IIRC, the two panels either side are removable to access the tanks, but I have a feeling the valance itself is welded behind the bumper.

Was in subway earlier, some bloke was going on about all sorts of random shite.

I decided he was a total nutcase when he came out with this bold statement "barbers and hairdressers are all money laundering organisations and nothing else"

Cue the next 10 minutes, various bits of "evidence" of why this is the case...

Not a soul in there had a clue who he was or what the fuck he was talking about. He was loud enough for everyone to hear, of course

Left me rather puzzled and made me question why I actually chose to go to subway...

TLDR; subway attracts very odd people, would not recommend.

Maybe this is what happens when the cretins from the 'must stupid message when flogging a shiter' are allowed outside!

I saw a photo recently of us all at Shitefest 2014, standing around the two-stroke Fiesta and did feel quite the pang of sadness at the sight of your old man. Hope you do manage to revisit that project. The result would be awesome.

He was sceptical of it as an idea but I think secretly he was looking forward to silly DERV powah.

I've been feeling like I've not been putting in enough effort with my cars to make him proud, I'll have to fix that over the summer.

Called into halfords for some car shampoo. They no longer sell own branded filters any more - they only had crossland.

Hire car collected. Feast your eyes on this magnificence:

3rd and 5th, and 2nd and 4th are stupidly close together, reverse is a bastard to engage and the aftermarket parking sensors are having a fit every time you try and back up. It's a bit battered and the sills are entirely chequerplate, and she's done 250k kms But it has ice cold air con front and back, a Bluetooth stereo (by Pyle Auido it proudly proclaims) and some sort of turbo diesel. It'll do. Maybe I should've had the Transit instead.

Collegue at work says can I look at his pug 307 as it's banging.. bear in mind this motor is unserviceable never washed or hoovered and on a budget of 50p for car care... so I took it for a drive... lots of noise from the engine bay and then a donk... get back open the bonnet noticed all plastics for airbox and pipes are all broken and loose... but not that though .. checked top mounts... hmm notchy but not ott, lent on the engine and felt it move a bit... so rock the engine and got a good inch back and forth...

For the 25th time I told him to scrap the heap of poop

He's not wrong.

Barbers, Nail bars, fake tanning establishments, launderettes.

I had it in the back of my head when typing that - it would be you if anyone who'd agree with him 🙃

Why do think that Scouse women have a reputation for being orange.

Fake tans.  Why so many establishments?  One on every street corner.

That's why I was asking. I don't think I ever remember seeing an SR in that colour! Gorgeous on the Mk1 Astra GTE alloys too.

Considering getting a set for my current Nova in homage!

Had to deal with a lacquer peeling Yaris bonnet for a friend.

20220607_151420.thumb.jpg.b89585383628476f037c962f5d416ec8.jpg

Removed the bonnet and sanded all the loose lacquer down to the base coat,a pain in the hoop.

Dents and chips filled.

Rubbed down, and given a squirt of primer.

I couldn't be arsed painting it myself,so my nephew collected it and took it to his dad's paint booth that evening.

Got it back the next day and refitted it.

Result.

Picked this up after a fraught train journey involving 4 trains, a missed connection and a lot of stress today

The drive home was thankfully uneventful, its an economical beast, 53mpg over 156 miles of mainly motorway, a bit better than the 24 I got from my V70 usually.

Thanks to @sims00 for a easy pleasant deal as usual, my wife thinks we should just swap cars every 3 months. :D

Got my car insurance renewal paperwork through today.  Almost exactly the same price as last year.  It's nice to have at least one thing which hasn't gone up...

Old boy at work asked me if I could help him replace this panel on his sovereign... he reckons its bolt on job.. but I reckon its a bigger job than he thinks .. like welding.. cutting.. etc

He nor I have access to a ramp or lift.

Anyone done one before?

We have had work done on ours but had a skilled man to help. He worked in our house garage.

CLK made 40mpg on the 430 mile drive down from Scotland yesterday (including some shitty traffic on M6 & M25), still 3 gallons in tank. 23 year old V6 160k barge FTW.

No.  If I could so could the combined forces of the HMRC, CID, Ci5, and the institute of British Laundry Professionals.

I'm now 95% certain that the main shaft seal on my 75s high pressure fuel pump is leaking diesel into the engine via the timing case :(

The oil level is steadily rising by about 1/4 litre every 100 miles or so. Replacing the PCV filter made little difference.

Thankfully I have a spare pump in the garage together with a seal kit so I'm going to rebuild it and get the Rover guy in Whitburn to fit it.

Still something I could have done without but I did promise myself I'd keep this 75, so on with the repair.
