I wish i was called 'Mr Race'. When I rang up the car insurance and spoke to the bored woman in the call centre I'd say 'Mr Race speaking. Thats right Mr Race - I ALWAYS win' she'll love it. If I have to call back later I'd say 'You might remember me as Mr Ace' etc etc.

S'pose it isn't quite as good saying "yes, that's right. My name is Mr Bollox. Yes, Mr Hugh G Bollox."

Today courtesy of my friendly local body repair centre I have become the temporary custodian of a new Nissan Micra.

Pros - 48mpg, 3 pot petrol makes a nice sound, satnav as standard

Cons - ZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Volvo has just turned 1000 miles, and gathered a stonechip on the bonnet. Arse.

On the upside, I had my first venture into a car dealership as a customer, and was given a cup of coffee and addressed as Sir. Never in my life before have I put a car into a garage for anything other than an MOT or tyres. It's an odd sensation. Maybe next time I'll have a little fun..

Telly the oft grumpy and sometimes a bit ungrateful 740 came back from service yesterday with a new balljoint and now drives lovely.

Well worth doing.

Scirocco on the telly again yesterday morning.

Nipped out to walk Alan the dog, bugger me, there's Brian McFadden from Westlife with a tv crew and cables all up and down the street!

Daybreak tv doing a Santa Surprise on the kids next door.

Recorded show, watched back, Bri walks past / stands in front of my old motor.

I cant see how to export images from the tivo box so you'll just have to believe me.

*Corsa now sporting a full MOT.

*Citroen ZX possibly going out on loan.

*Alfa seems to have sold.

*Just 143 miles to go before I hit the magic 3,000 miles mark since I last put diesel in the 306.

Barefoot, I spotted that Scirroco in the 4 seconds between me walking into the room and leaving again after seeing brian mcfudgeon.

My Christmas shopping plans were thwarted this morning when I found one of my tyres completely flat. It was fine yesterday evening, and there's no obvious sign of damage so I don't know why its done that.

Took a few attempts to make this latest video, especially as I wasted an entire day recording rubbish footage that I ended up binning! Stole some editing tricks from barefoot. Thanks!

I may be able to claim some mild similarity in looks, but I fear his wordsmithery was far superior.

I enjoyed that again Ian, one thing I would say though is to ask Santa for a better camera this Christmas!

Here's another T2 film I made earlier....

Again, I can't seem to make it embed, you'll just have to click.

That's brilliant Barefoot! Tenderise a steak with a Vee Dub. Genius.

EDIT - Trig, I'd love a new camera. I'm using a Canon Powershot SX10IS, which was really good when I got it about four years ago. Technology has moved on since! It's also huge and really heavy, which is why it moves around so much.

I can honestly say, I enjoy Autoshite road tests so much more than modern Top Gear car 'reviews'!!

Totally agree with the Discovery conclusion- on paper there's not much to love.. but somehow, they just seem so right.

Loving the videos.  I may be making a new shite purchase shortly, in which case I might film the collection saga - do we want a communal Autoshite movies thread?

Hating that you can now only log in to YouTube using a Google account, which means I'm locked out of my own GrandThriftAuto channel.  I have a Vimeo account too, but that's supposed to be for work stuff under my real name.

Yes, good idea.

Here's a video I made a while back of me taking the Atlantic for a spin. No commentary unfortunately.

I've made some "modifications" to my false tooth with a crappy old dremal multi tool thing I've had in the cupboard for ages. Still not great but much better. I had to stop before I inevitably took too much off and broke it.
