I had a weird dream last night, I was at the services and I had just bought a car. I can't remember what it was but it was silver. @captain_70s was there for some reason and he had also bought a car. A red, well pink Almera and he was thrilled and putting stickers all over it. ?

got the camshaft seal on the Pajero Junior changed yesterday - had intended to have if for sale this morning but mechanic says that the oil has been leaking all over the timing belt and its f**ked. He said he was nervous even driving it back out of the workshop. Being a jap import the belt is not laying about on shelves locally so will be Monday before it arrives in. I will get it, leave the jeep outside the mechanics place for whenever he can do it. If he was that nervous I dont think i will risk it either. So its shanks mare for a few days.

Been fucking had, new car has gone all RELIABLE HONDA ENGINE on me. Turns out nobody had run it with any coolant in (fucked radiator - pressurised and blown out?). Supposedly it ran well.

Of course I'm only told this a few hours after I sell the 306.

It's in fucking Felixstowe at the moment, 2-3 weeks plus labour to fix or £350 to recover it.

Can't get to work, no money whatsoever, Jag is on SORN as I can't afford to run it at the moment, aside the fact I don't want to in winter.

Fucking fuck.

Did you collect it? Or did they confess before you got there?

If I can help - I will. Tell me everything!!

Ouch. Was it an expensive one? If not, and it doesn't hold a sentimental value, is it not worth scrapping it and starting again?

Invest the car take back money in a reliable* replacement.

It's a fairly high spec Honda Concerto, twincam auto. Not worth masses but has rarity value as well as suiting my needs to the ground, plus I know the things back to front. Scrapping it wouldn't solve anything, I'd end up with a misery spec Civic 1.4i or something. Besides, the body is as good as Hondas come and it's on a set of BMW E30 wheels that I can always flog for cashback if I need to.

I'm also invested in it already as it's had a set of locks and a new radiator. I can fix it once I get it, it'll be the fourth D-Series head gasket I've done.

My folks are in Felixstowe - it’s my hometown - I’m well connected. If you need a hand please let me know. If not, good luck.

As it is the 1st of the month I taxed the "flash sale" Renault Modus DCi this morning, then added 15% of the cost to the fuel tank. Been out for a run and covered about 60 miles. Verdict? For a boring modern* POS it is all right actually. Certainly good enough to abandon in the airport carpark for weeks at a time. Bit early, but counting that as a win.

Well, the Captain Tolley's had moderate success on curing the water ingress on the BX.  It rained a fair bit last night and while there was some water in the footwell, it was much less than usual.  I suspect the water is probably coming in through the windscreen surround at that, so I've applied the magic potion to the whole of the top edge of the windscreen seal this time and watched it disappear in a couple of places a bit quicker than others, so perhaps there's more than one very small leak on the surround that needs sealing up.  I'll wait for it to rain again and assess what to do from there, if water ingress is cured then fantastic, if instead it's reduced but still coming in I'll apply yet more Tolley's and repeat until the water stays out.  At least it's nice and easy to use and doesn't make a horrible mess everywhere.

Looks like someone ran out of talent today in High Wycombe.

Hope everyone is ok, and the insurance is all kosher.

The local FB page has all the usual commentary; multiple independent parties saying two cars were racing and one lost control.

Then of course all the mouth breathing meatheads jump to their defence.

With any luck they learn a lesson that only costs them money and not their legs. Hopefully it calms them down forthwith.

Been driving the Aero of much hotness around today. Excessive use of loud pedal coupled with round town driving does not maketh for good mpg's

I’ve just heard from my parents that my Godmother Doreen, who had my x1/9 from new until giving it to me 13 years ago has died this morning. She had a fall ( as elderly people do) broke her other hip in December and didn’t really recover. Sadly developed dementia after her last hip replacement and was in a home near family in Lytham st Anne’s. Doreen had an interesting car history, an A reg metro GT was pxd for the the fiat, before the metro were a couple of Tr7s, one of which she wrapped round a tree one evening, and before that she had a Hillman imp which my dad says* never started under its own power when it rained and always had to have the sixth form lads push start it from the staff car park.

Plus my dad, who was in tyddyn llan hotel last night with my mum managed to knock himself out going to the toilet at 2am. Now has a black eye and cut on his head. I’ve questioned whether they should be allowed out on their own anymore.

on the car front I’ve not been able to make the dent in the door any better, but have at least managed to put the door panel back on properly using all the clips so that it doesn’t rattle.

If that's a real coswoart then they need to be finding a 1.3L in Spain, with a 3 door shell

What a shame. How ever it happened it's still a shame.

That presupposes there was talent to start with.

The insurance claim form will be an interesting read.....

According to the Facebook Cosworth lickers page, it's an RS500.

Incidentally, RS500 no. 1 is currently for sale for the bargain price of £119k.

That would go well in a Northern Ireland MoT testing centre.

Fair comment though, I'd be surprised if you'd be able to see a safety certificate on it...
