Having had our travelling friends take over the industrial estate where I work, where in the space of 48 hours they stole numerous items, tried stealing the fork lift, left a skip full of rubbish, and human shite everywhere, another collection of them having various pick up accessories fitted(this what I do) then refuse to pay, make up a huge act of violence, pinning my gaffer against the wall, police etc, then fuck off with a grands worth of stuff, the stereotype is there for a reason, and I'm sorry, but they are all scum.

Think ive fixed the daddy wagon, 2nd hand door unit, replace a blown fuse, replace fuse i whipped out, set off the alarm, annoy the neighbours, lock the door, hopefully it recognises everything, and voila it shuts up and works..yay...

I was hovering over the delete button there, but instead I'll just post a reply.

It's completely unacceptable what happened, no defending that. Those people were scum, and they need a kicking.

Please can we not do the "all travellers are...." piece though. It just means we get several pages of borderline hatecrime. That's not just directed particularly at your post, Dan, but more of a request for anyone who replies.

Scumbags are scumbags whether they live in a caravan, a house, or a mansion.

Hmm, do I trust a man who's clearly dropped half a cup of tea and/or dribbled down his shirt ?

But of course.

Anyway, the site is right off Junction 26, so not right next door but not too far away from chez Clayts. Might pop along as it's within walking distance - £5 for car parking is going to work, isn't it ?

Just lubed up the old paper shredder with WD40, then read this can be a great way to start a fire

What, a deliberate "let's have a fire" fire or a "holy shit my paper shredder is on fire" fire?

The shredder oil I bought, tells you to put oil on a piece of paper and shred that. I guess reduces the amount of oil that can shred.

Yes, that would have been sensible. At least mine doesn't have a sealed paper receptacle - so the fumes had somewhere to go.

3 in 1 oil would have been a better choice too, but that's in the shed and WD40 is always to hand...

The latter apparently. But I cannot see any Google images which show this happening for scientific proof*.

A view most Clio owners will be used to.

Thankfully just an oil change this time. I had to do a mad dash to Halfords for a filter though as the 'Service Pack' from Opie doesn't contain one.

In Huddersfield (300 miles away). Not seen the road in 11 years. Rusty. Deep joy

But why - I here you ask, when the age-d amongst you will recall I bought an NI Samara saloon a few years back, that I’ve never used ( although it’s ready for the road - I can’t find a use)

Because this

Looking for quality* hire cars in Australia...

post-20130-0-65070000-1556327014_thumb.png

Ohh a Fiat Punto is cheap, although not suitable for the outback (although the rental agreement says you can only use sealed roads anyway...), lets find out why not; using the modern medium of Facebook.

Does this make any sense or am I missing something? It doesn't matter as I've now booked a Hyundai Accent / Similar with another company.

Makes no sense to me, unless they think European engines are fragile with badly spaced gear ratios, or it's only an automatic if it needs assistance with your left leg, third pedal and a magic wand between the front seats and people have got themselves stuck in the middle of nowhere before.

The reason given through facebook sounds like bollocks. I would imagine the reason would be due to the lack of Fiat dealerships/mechanics outside of the major cities in case something did go wrong.

French and Italian cars are seen as fashion statements in the Australian market and are generally only bought by posh city types.

After heavy rain, a wash, more heavy rain and then hailstones early this morning, I think I can file the Audi's footwell water ingress issue under 'fixed'.

This car is definitely a keeper.

The person in front of me took a “figure 8” approach. I just drove over the top.

In 2003 I got royally fucked about by the DVLA when getting my licence back after losing it for medical reasons. I still get angry thinking about it and a couple of years later someone sent them a letter bomb through the post, I can't say I was surprised someone might do that as they appear to no clue how much people value their licence....

It wasn't helped when a locum doctor at the surgery I am registered at sent off a letter last to them saying god knows what to them. This doctor hadn't even called me in to examine me etc, whereas my 'normal' doctor cleared me to drive in late 2017.

I did send in a formal complaint to them because the website tells you to send in one thing, but they also expect another form with it. Paperwork was being to'd and fro'd for months because they don't tell you what you need.

I'm very surprised they don't get more threats of the illegal kind as when some people snap they can't be reasoned with.

have picked up the black mini from George's in Malton.

the car has been there for a month getting the head gasket, waterpump and the cylinder head overhauled with hardened valve seat and new exhaust valves fitted. Now we can use unleaded without having to worry about puuting additive in with it. as we were getting the headgasket done, NOT getting the valve seats done at the same ttime seemed to be daft.

now it has taken the machine shop most of that month to do something that should have done and sorted in a few days.

hmmmmm......

still, the car does seem to run ok and with no over heating, at least not so far. the reversing lights are still coming on at random points as we think the switch in the housing is jiggered, so as a stop gap fix i've taken the bulb out of the lamps. well that fixed it for now!

oh and teddy is making him self comfortable.

Almost got a full house there :)

I wonder does anyone actually have a full house on their licence? :)

Need CE, D, DE & H. Not interested in pulling any trailers, did a few days of artic lessons, hated it. (But I hate towing with a car as well - I can do it, I'd just prefer a larger rigid vehicle to put things in)

I'd give buses a go if it wasn't a normal service bus. Coach tours or private hire with a shonky Leyland National is more my cup of tea.
