Great buy Rob, is it an RXE?

No, just an RT. Manual too so no auto box to grenade. So far all the electrics seem to work, although I'm yet to try the windows. Best not do that on something French when you've got an 80 mile drive home in winter...the heater also got hot eventually, so isn't afflicted by shit heater syndrome that is common on these.

Make sure not to use the radio or it might catch hold of what the jilet jaunes are doing and try the same things itself.

Mine you, the most French thing I've seen a French car do is spontaneously combust while its owner was at the grocer's. Fortunately it was a Citroen Picasso and not something as magnificent as your Laguna. Runner up to my Frenchness award was a 106 that dropped its sump one Sunday morning all over the person's drive (same couple who also owned the Picasso).

Well that was fun*

Loaded up the Merc with all the detritus of the day for a tip run..

Chooch up the big hill before the dump, and round the sharp Left hander, plant the pedal.

No acceleration. REV counter says 2k rpm. Shift to Neutral, 0rpm and dash lights.

Let the bugger roll 1/4 of a mile and make it to the entrance to the dump road. Dead on 427miles.

Stopped with hazards on, luzz in 10L veg. Crank for 4 mins, BOOM running again.

Into the dump, unload, reminisce with a worker who was telling me of his pug 505 he ran on veg, then hame!

Looks like it is a 70L tank in the Merc

crazy jock [/colby]

And the fireworks have started. Not too early either. It's also good that it isn't freezing like last year, or pouring down like the year before!

Posted

Fireworks started here as well. Will try and walk dog, but I doubt he'll be interested. Then phone off to stop being woken up by pissed up mate's in the early hours.

Some of us have footie matches to get to tomorrow.

Happy New Year. May the god of shiteness bring you what you desire.....

Bigger booms are now happening. I think someone's actually shelling their neighbour.

Posted

I heard a barrage that sounded like the Somme earlier.

These people might also be doing some long range firing then...

...or are they just aiming into the Channel?

Posted

They might be saying "Happy New Year" to the French, however I'm in the sea so I can only imagine.

I had a message from someone offering up a swap on the Cortina with a 944. I said send through some pictures. This is the best one.

I also got offered a dutton leggera kit car with a suped up injected pinto in it. Looks quite good but I don't think I'd fit in it.

Yeah, get it tested then February roffle most likely. Purely bought it as a NY boredom breaker!

Lovely colour! These pre-facelift Lagunas have got seriously rare all of a sudden. Would like to lick.

Hah cool invacar rear lights

Grandmother Fumbler's 2005 Rav4 clocked over 100 000 miles today. That also means it's now worth pennies and groats. And it needs a new clutch. Seriously needs one. It slips in 4th at 40MPH so not good at all. Now looking for a new vehicle that is small, four wheel drive, and has adequate ride height so she can continue pulling herself into the car and staying active.

Lada Niva?

I wish. It might require a grenade autobox which I believe Lada classics never had. She won't buy new. Oldest car she's ever bought was two years old (the Rav4). Not to mention it has to last her with minimal additional problems. A clutch, flywheel and brake shoes are fine but at her age and out bust status any metalwork is off the order. I might just pitch in with the idea though!

Indeed. The shelling has resumed.

Indeed, how tiresome.

House alarm count clock will be set to zero for all the loud booms.

If Amy wasn't at work I'd have had the battery off and on the Zafira to make the time and most of the date correct!
