Metro?

Nope.

Update: the ad price on AutoTrader has dropped by £600, into 'decent price' territory.

I've rang the seller, given them £100 to hold it (it's in London) and I'm viewing it on Sunday.

Fixed washers, thumb over other jet and press button.... sorted. Did job on car, no other fault manifested... twisted to reach through window to press button, tweaked neck big time. Agony.

TL:DR

Fixed car, broke me!

First gen. Honda Integra? (Haven’t looked, just a random guess)

Is that binnacle in the middle of the dash pointing the wrong way? As if for a LHD motor?

No, it is in fact central and facing centrally.  It's the curve towards the driver of the whole centre console below it that makes your eyes do a MC Escher squint

Already managed to find a very, very suitable replacement for the 416GSi. A distant cousin, even.

It's in the low tax band, has a carb/manual choke, and has been giffer owned seemingly from new.

It's not cheap but it's understandable why, however it yielded the single cheapest insurance quote I've seen yet.

That will be a Honda then

Two blokes from estates have just turned up... To deal with a spider. Yes, one of my colleagues in the office next door has called estates because there's a spider in the office.

Suspected False Widow or are they just scared?

Did they rock up in full Hazmat bodysuits ?

They thought it was a false widow... Even if it was, they're not *that* dangerous are they? Estates & Facilities kept a straight face and dealt with it professionally, anyway...

I know a paramedic who ended up hospitalised and nearly lost his foot after suffering a reaction to the bite from one?

I am informed the GSi has arrived at its new home on a dairy farm (!). It's sharing a barn with an HH-R 400.

Don't worry, it's not being put out to pasture. The new owner was looking for a more comfortable mile muncher than a K-series R8, he has one of the other 416GTis out there, a black manual, but it's royally shat it's headgasket to the point it warped the head and the block  thankfully he has a replacement DOHC D16 for it, just needs dropping in.

I got the sidecar chassis out of my car at Lymme Services where I met the new owner. He is a Soviet bike enthusiast and told me he has a Diahatsu engine in one of his bikes. Maybe its this little beauty-

I really like stuff like this, the worlds poorer now that its much more awkward to create such things.

Later this morning we set sail for Surrey where I hope to unearth a window and differential for my PC van. Unfortunately I'm told there are 3 possible types it could be, though Vauxhall did an adapter plate so two of them were interchangeable. This is odd considering that, like VW, they had a single model line for the first half of the '50's. By contrast over at BMC the same diff was used for Minor, A3O, A35, Riley & Wolseley 1500s, Sprites and Midgets and more. Similarly The 'Rover' diff continued in use for probably more than half a century.

Perks of driving through forests of Sweden...

Ears still ringing a bit from the airbags but otherwise it's all good on my health front. Not so good for the huge fucking deer that decided to run across 100 kph road.

As for the car, we will see what the insurance says but I can't imagine it being financially viable for them to fix it.

I actually would like them to, because I really like the car.

Holy Moly.

Glad to hear you tell the story tho.  Keep an eye on yourself over the next 72 hours man.

I'm just happy it wasn't a moose. I've seen them bigger than my car.

Thinking about it the 'wedgeness' of MX-3 probably also helped with damage limitation.

just spoken to garage.

Not ready. They are 2 mechanics down. They will phone me at 4pm with an update. So I'll cycle back to digs at 3:30 quick shower and then I'll know if I'm taking the ML.

I have no idea whether Diesel or petrol or auto or not. But it has a tow bar. And is blue.

In other news my sister rang up to ask me if she should spend 12k plus her 59 reg 1.25 fiesta on a new 1.0 none turbo or 1.0 ecoboost fiesta. She has test driven both and prefers the 5 speed none ecoboost than the 6 speed ecoboost.

I told her: Renault Kaptur 0.9

Fell on death ears.

She does 5k a year 90% in 30 zone and the ecoboost doesn't like 4th gear at 30, and her brain won't compute 3rd gear at 30.

Hopefully it will be a horrid lurid colour

Definitely vote for the Captur. Had a 0.9 for a week whilst the company car was in the stealer getting the injectors done. Absolutely cracking bit of kit, fun to drive and the 3cyl lump was very willing.

Ouch....

I've seen pics of a Subaru Legacy that went  into an adult Moose

Pretty much flattened everything from the dashboard back asit  went under the beast like a hgv trailer

She's bought another fiesta.

Her 5th car in 35 years of motoring. 4 fiestas and a serria dangly mirrors base estate in beige which my dad gave her.

Liked for the impressive pic and that you could still stand up to take it.

Just need a French estate car.

Very nice! The one on the left, the top mount switch is a weak point. I've got some spare switches if it is broken though, just shout!

The seller has got back to me and he thinks my car has 2 drivers side arms and the one he sent is correct. Apparently the passenger side arm should be pointed up higher but I think this will bug my OCD as they would not be parallel.

This is how the wipers ‘should’ be:

Yeah, that ain’t going to happen! Having 2 different blade types is much less irritating than that!

Here is mine for reference:

Much better if you ask me.

To be honest, it looks like your car has one early S3 style (wiper above the arm) and one later style (flush fitting to the arm).

Two straight arms does appear to be correct for a later S3. This is the very last one built. The example pic isn't helped by using awful aero blades. This looks much better.
