Petrolhead is a good start, taste is something that takes years to develop.

Caught up with a mate today, and the C5 V6 he bought off me a few years back.  It's going up for sale again and I'm tempted by it's 1)mega wafting capabilities and 2)extreme ugliness.  It's a 2001 launch model and was the all-singing-all-dancing demo for Citroen Belfast back in the day.  I've owned it twice already, tell me I don't need it again.  The sat nav still thinks it's in Shrewsbury and even more electrical items have waved the white flag.

My word that is minging, when do you collect it?

A C5 estate is probably exactly what I want, but I just don't think I can leave something that ugly outside my house. What were they thinking?

Park it two streets away, problem solved!

Away from my route to work, station and town, with the rear facing my approach - I like your thinking!

They have really grown on me, at first I thought they were a bit ugly but I really like them now. They cost pennies and are great load loggers.

The rest of the country was just something that happened to other cars.

The C3s insurance is due next week the current lot quoted £178. Not too bad but the meerkat said £151 was possible. Then I thought I'd try Confused. Up pops £131 quid for Ageas Essentials. OK, doesn't include some things like windscreen cover, but on a £250 quid car I'd be off to the scrappy if it broke as there's lots in there. So, it pays to check more than one comparison site.

I thought I'd already posted the results but clearly hadn't.

So, I ran out of filler, it's a bit rough but matt green is on the cards so I'll sort it then.

Re-drilled Land rover modular wheels and Transit connect arches are on their way, then I'll get the rollers and paint out.

The sudden realisation that I have to drive to The Netherlands next week, via Yorkshire, and my distance car is currently 110 miles from home and inaccessible. I've got a fleet of tiny city cars, most of which have problems! I really am an idiot.

Matiz has a wheel bearing going, and while it hasn't got any worse since collecting it, I don't think that's ideal. I did think about the Nippa, but it makes the Invacar seem comfortable. The 2CV meanwhile is still pissing oil everywhere and I don't know why. No, the Invacar isn't even being considered as it can barely get out of the village, and the Fox still has no engine fitted.

I wonder when the Dacia carb bits will turn up from Romania?  It is currently immobile at my work, I drove it in and up the ramps to change the oil and when I tried to drive it down after failing to get the oil out it had a flat battery and fairly flat tyre.  The 2nd tow rope got it off the ramps after pushing failed and the first tow rope snapped.  Currently stupidly busy so spannering planned for next week.

Sounds like you need to buy another car :)

A very kind offer, but sadly, I'm driving straight from here to Yorkshire on Sunday. Not very Buckinghamshirish.

My Romanian friend speaks in riddles. He says the parts are ready to come to the UK. His uncle will be bringing them over. I have no idea when...

His uncle...

Then he'll tell you his uncle has fallen ill and he'll be getting his friend to drive the down!

Just bought a set of 15" Peugeot 307 alloys with tyres off Gumtree for 40 quid.  The idea was to stick them on the Audi to get it through its test, as the tyres are the same size (195/65x15), the wheels are the same PCD and the centre bore is fractionally larger but not enough to be an issue.  What I hadn't counted on is the actual bolt holes being slightly too small, so some drilling will have to occur.  There's plenty of metal round the holes so shouldn't be an issue, he says hopefully.

Be careful, most Peugeot alloys have funny bolts with a flat washer and won't work with the Audi tapered bolts, and if the centre bore is larger, it could get.... interesting.

Got some GORLD wheels for my Impreza in exchange for editing a wedding video.

I think they need spigot rings.
