Finally got my Xsara van back on the road. Stupid sod that I am somehow managed to get the new timing belt on one tooth out. On the plus side whilst messing about with a key programmer tool I somehow managed to get the factory remote locking working again off the key. Now bearing in mind I've checked the service history files and its been into Citroen four times previously to fix this fault without success I'm feeling well chuffed. On the downside I now how an engine management light on, codes read possible dirty maff sensor and something to do with the cam sensor. Seeing as it starts perfectly and now runs great I'll ignore it until I get the Lexia working. With all this done I'm feeling the love for it again and decided to keep it!

Gave #60 Clio a wash/ hoover out and check over before I need it on Monday.

It rewarded me by making the Speedos sender intermittent

Fucking thing!

Guess I'll need to rob the new one out The Burd's car

Gave the Mountfield Empress 16 mower a semi service. I stole a nearly new spark plug (fouled as hell thanks to overfilling the other engine), topped up the oil and cleaned the carb. My is it cheapo. All plastic. Briggs also has a good history as well of fully assembling an engine, then painting it which means one side of the air cleaner is quite rusted and the inside of the air guide will also be pretty nasty if you're lucky. Taking the air cleaner off also allowed me to have some fun experimenting with how much smoke is produced when either 10/40, bike chain oil (nice smell), silicone lubricant and 2 stroke oil go into the carb. Bike chain oil definitely won that contest!

Remember: Dirt Is Good. Dirt Is Natural.

Cleanliness is a bourgeois construct.

PS I notice how your predictive text thinks Speedos as a brand name are part of your world. #notjudging

Tinkering with the Xantia today I found a thick wodge of service history in the passenger seat pocket (barrett thought it'd been lost).

There's bills for everything from 1998 to 2016, so not far off being a FSH. Cam belt was done 19k ago, and coolant needs doing so I'll make that a priority.

Wot a looker, gr9 profile.

A strut return pipe has been ordered, 10 quid delivered from Lithuania as there's none over here (not reasonably priced ones anyway) so once that's fitted the LHM incontinence should be solved.

Sound advice for all lazy spotters from Sir Stirling...

What a bonny car. First dibs if you sell it.

It’s a great colour for the xantia and very rare now.

Another delivery completed, and to the deliverer go the spoils.

What is the actual percentage of off-peak rail passengers on any given day turning out to be shiters on a collection caper?

A small amount of veg oil makes it smell like it's running on Castrol R!

On bucket list for tomorrow along with some other small things. Seafoam after to lightly revery any fouling etc. Funny thing it likes to redline on choke. I guess that's a feature to get it warm of to get someone to buy another mower.

They will just be shit wonky bulbs with a cheap coating on the glass that does no good at all. I'd be surprised if they really are 100w, and if they are I'd be very surprised if they last more than a few hours.

If they are 100w, there may be a blown fuse or two sooner or later.

I'm fascinated to find out what these things actually do now.

I've managed to buy a couple of cars that have .'xenon' blue bulbs fitted, both times the headlights were improved by flinging them and putting quality  standard bulbs in.

Here's what I did the day before Chumleigh.

The Chumleigh video itself should be out later in the week. In it, there is hand cranking a Dacia, stripping a 2CV, Junkman inspecting the rear suspension mounts of a Renault 4, Squire-Dawson's remarkable Humber People Carrier, annoying commentary and more.
