Ordered some randomly overpriced wiring loom from USA - Fingers crossed it sorts all electrical shite out.

(Could of made one myself, but lack of time is a real killer)

I shall keep thee informed of quality etc...

Nice work CAV, glad to see your enjoying* your time on the estate. Good to see you persevere with it :)

In other news, I spent all afternoon fitting a towbar to the Marea - went for a detachable job, so I can still use the drop down tailgate.

Just needs wiring up now. I'd do it myself like I have in the past, but it's not just a case of just scotchlocking 7 wires into the rear light loom as on the Pandas :lol::lol:

KV6 - Changed the other speaker on the Rover today, took me about 10mins compared to 40 mins yesterday, also had a look at the CD changer, the changer plug had come off the rear of the headunit so plugged it back in again only to find I needed to retap in the code, which I don't have, so the headunit was swapped for an identical one with code.

CD changer has a snapped CD in it which I will try to take out tonight, problem is, usually when I tackle electrical radio stuff, when taken apart, it stays apart and never works again. I have 2 other CD changers but don't think I'll bother putting one in unless I really want to listen to some specific CD.

hey, that's great and what a bargain!

For something like that Grundig, you make the space happen. Get it fixed and enjoy it.

Also, good luck with the continued repairs, Cavette.

The E30s misfire is back despite running perfectly for the last 3 months. Will spend some money for a change and get the garage to sort it. In the meantime I've taxed the miniMetro and put it into daily duties - old BL shite saves the day after BMW FAIL :D

I'm also feeling the need for another Rover now the Monty has left the fleet. A trip to PoL on Saturday will no doubt stoke that feeling even more! An R8 like Joe's would be nice.

Mrs Micrasheds C8 developed a non working windscreen washer back in November last year water would just piss out of the bottom of the tailgate when you opened it up. The car was off in for its MOT so the tame man in a barn fixorated it.

Last weekend it did the same again, so today being not quite as arse clenchingly cold as last November I stripped the tailgte trim off (its a fucking big tailgate with a huge piece of trim)

Only to discover that all was well in the pipe department, so I pulled the pipe off to see if water was coming out of it - it wasnt. I did however discover small lake in the boot of the car when I went round the back again.

Pulling various bits of trim off i eventually found this pipe - and note that someone has clearly been here before as there was zip tie round it....

Now not having the hands of a 4 yaer old or the arms of Mr Tickle made re-fixing this a right PITA

Eventually a new piece of rubber pipe was let in combined with zip ties and super glue. All is well again in the land of Mrs Micrashed.

Booo @ selling the Montego!

What's happened to the Sierra?

I picked up a '98 Polo 1.4 for a friend that's just passed her driving test, it's mega dull obviously but I quite like it! It was quite fun on the drive back from Essex to Brighton anyway. Also I got to play with the Fiat 126BIS again afterwards, which was more fun (but much slower).

It's hard to believe there's only 8 years between those 2 cars.

Carparts4less have STILL failed to send me the correct part. Phoning them up seems to result in endless "you are fourth in the queue" while their chat service doesn't bloody work. So, I'm left with email, which they seem to respond to every two days. It's appalling! I will not be using them again.

I try and avoid any company that has a "4less" in their name as they nearly always end up being a big pile of steaming dog shit.

That's the beauty of having a local factors. Took my (wrong) clutch back to The Quality Factor in Chester today, and received an instant refund as I'd got one elsewhere.

That would be my normal approach, but they were recommended on here...

They're a budget arm of Euro Car Parts from what I can make out.

I dearly wish I had a decent local factor. I don't. There's one in town, 12 miles away, but they seem to get bamboozled by most of the stuff I own.

What's happened to the Sierra?

It's still amongst the AS collective Gary, 109landy off here has it now. I can't afford to chuck the necessary money at it to sort the bodywork, but hopefully Steve can!

Sierra is with me Dad who's enjoying it as a second motah to his Corsa (I know what one I prefer...) and when I can be arsed I'll be selling the BM and buying a proper car like a Rover 75/25 or whatever. The Beemer does look and sound nice though when it isn't playing silly buggers.

Is 'carparts4less' that outfit that used to be in PC staff car sagas all the time?

Oh hang on, I think its some sort of relative of Euro Car Parts.

Posted

I think that was partsforoldercars.co.uk, based in Mansfield - I've used them a few times, they're alright.

Going to look at some bargain garlic mega shite after work tonight. Prepare to set faces to jealous if it comes off.

I found a local mechanic today who's right into his classic cars so I've booked my Cortina in with him for a few weeks time to get the rough running carb, slipping exhaust and poor cold starting issues sorted.

Whilst I was at his workshop (which happens to be only 5 minutes from my house) he showed me a mint 10000 mile Triumph Stag he's just recommissioned and his Karman Ghia and knew all about the Cortina problems and even what my Alto was, It's the first time since moving to Ipswich 8 years ago that I've found something enthusiastic about working on my old cars, apparently he's well priced too.

Sounds like your lucks in there trig :D

I've Mot'd the BX today without too many issues and finally started fixing the VW ready for the summer.

Saw a really 70s Lotus, a mk2 transit luton, a mk3 Cortina and an old LT cabbed MAN horsebox while driving round today 8)

This diesel injector puller thing arrived today. Very prompt given I ordered it yesterday. Of course when I was down cleaning up my lockup last night I thought I'd have a fiddle with the injectors and one of them just popped out after sitting in some wd40 like substance for a few days  No doubt one of them will want to be a bastards so I think the puller is money well spend and I'll just wang it back on ebay when I'm done with it.

A spot of gardening unearthed this behind the garage!

a very early grill for a mk2 cavalier.

I remember taking it off & replacing it with the slightly later one with the big griffin

I bet its worth a blinding fortune now.

Cleaned up pictures to follow...

I'm planning on selling the beta spider to pay for another motor. It's got a couple of months test left, but thought it would sell better with 12 months MOT, so I booked it in for a test this Saturday.

I've just had a call from the garage saying he had a bit of time today so he tested it ... It nearly passed, it just needs a couple of brake flexi's, a headlight tinkering with and something else trivial ... For a 35yr old Italian motor I call that a good result :D

If anyone is interested in buying it drop me a pm ;)

Anyone on here got access to Ford OASIS? I need to find the service history on my Focus but Ford Etis only tells me the build date and other stuff, not when or where it was serviced....

Just unleashed shit loads of omg whores powahhhh from my jag x300

It was running sick and the ignition coils seem a likely cause, I bought 3 good secondhand coils from an eBay jag specialist for £35 inc postage and #3 was definitely buggered and #1+#2 were starting to crack, so 3 swapped and its running nicely

I'll update properly later, presently I can't sleep. The Princess went for a surprise MoT yesterday, something my brother sprang on me and gave me five minutes to get insurance sorted and get to the MoT garage for! Failed on one tyre being beyond the legal wear limit (my spare would only hold 4psi, which was a bit frustrating) and got a single advisory for the rear brakes being weak. I'll sort the tyre out and we'll go get a pass sheet when the garage is open, easy peasy. I'd say this was bloody awesome news!
