My 31 year old 205 dizzler had it's road worthiness test this afternoon.

They deemed it safe to drive for another year.

Chuffed!

That looks stunning!

Thanks :)

The photo does flatter it greatly.

It's quite scruffy really, but I like to take a clean car to the test.

That's it's original paint for the most part too.

I've just bought a transit, blind, from ebay.

It will be delivered to me tomorrow at home, while i am at work and is a cash sale.

I wont see or drive it until the van is here and my cash is gone and i arrive home from work.

Can anybody see any flaws in this plan?

It seems kosher to me, have i done it right?

That's pure undistilled essence of autoshite.

Mrs Egg is 're-learning' to drive after 16 years of not sitting in a driving seat. If she does it, the Fusion will become 'her' car. An auto might be the longer term option to make it easier for her.

So what shite but reliable and safe quirky small automatic for the school run haven't I thought of in my research to make the winter nights go more quickly (I've already done the Proton Satria, Smart Forfour, Micra CVT, Perouda Kelisa etc). I'm aware of the horsey horseless auto too ;-)

I’ve decided to sell the Volvo. I need more Alfa’s in my life. WCPGW?

Any one want an immaculate S60 with a petrol engine a turbo manual with full leather for cheap?

Thought not....

I'm currently without a car. Talk to me?

Tim, it’s a couple hundred quid to you if it helps. I can take some pictures but it’s genuinely lovely. Only thing that doesn’t work is the AC. PE02HVR for the mot checker

Surely a C3 Pluriel is prime shite and you should be saving that instead. Or, is it too shit for Autoshite?

Not sure about too shit for AS, the Pluriel is a half decent car, mechanically. However the roof system is poor, expensive to repair and leaks like a colander. This particular car needs the roof sorting, door lock sorting and boot lid repairing. Beyond economical repair for me and a good donor.

I looked at it specifically to save my lad’s 207, by donating it’s powertrain. I can sell good bits of the roof, the interior and the BSI / locks to break even - making the 207 repairs almost cost neutral.

This will give me a few more years out of the 207, instead of bridging it for a noisy gearbox and cracked cylinder head. Bangernomics at its finest.

Sitting in a branch of Costa waiting for a set of tyres to be fitted to the Bini, when it’s done I’ll swap it for the Volvo and have that done too.

Talking of tyres, the offside rear tyre was down to 10psi on the Honda. It's only a couple of weeks since I had to get a puncture repaired on the nearside rear tyre. This is irritating. I very rarely get punctures, but that's three this year (the Nippa got a screw right on the sidewall back in March).

I once had 80 out of one of those. My hearing still hasn't recovered, and I very nearly ran out of road. Acceleration was glacial, even before you put any weight in it. Was bloody ace for drifting on wet roundabouts though.

Bini sorted and riding lovely, but the weird puncture bands on the Volvo have confused the garage and they're keeping the car overnight. I think I'll be doing away with those, then.
