Euro Car parts have a 50% wiper blade sale today! Just reserved 2 fancy bosch fronts and 1 bosch rear as my current blades are all utter shite for £20.48.

Will update my thread or summat when I collect them at lunchtime and they are correct, but thought I'd mention it

The code is WIPER50

Did they double the prices first??

My local spares place charges about £7 a blade for decent wipers.

One for the bus lickers really but there are cranes and big heavy workshop equipment coming up for sale in Bristol on the 19th. I am away on holiday otherwise I would of gone along.

I think I just paid the actual value of them rather than the usual price

But fuck me it was worth it! I fitted them there in the car park as it was quiet, which was handy as one blade was missing the plastic bit the arm clips to, so that got swapped pretty quickly, and it's a bloody revelation! No noise, no clunks at the end of the travel, no squeaking, no smearing, and the new rear blade clears the window 90% better than the cheap ebay one did!

Probably the least important thing I should have spend money on for the car, but I'm happy I did!

New wipers always make a car feel so much better, you never realise how little you could see until you can see it again.

For some reason ECP are normally pretty expensive for wipers that fit a Goona - not sure why

This may be the reason beko's are as fucked as they are ;-)

Not if you buy cheap shitty blades on Ebay! The ones I've fitted to the Bluebird are utterly horrific. Why don't I learn?

Those wipers on your Saab were "top quality" 5 pound Lidl special buy wipers! To be fair, they worked really well when they were first put on. Much better than the knackard Bosch blades it had previously...

So not terribly surprised that they were knackard after a few months of being up norf.

Good news, Rover of M495SOA has a full MOT.

Couple of Advisories:

Not bad really.

Parking brake lever has little reserve travel (3.1.6b)
Nearside Front Outer Front constant velocity joint gaiter deteriorated, but preventing the ingress of dirt (2.5.C.1a)
Nearside Rear Brake pipe slightly corroded (3.6.B.2c)
Offside Rear Brake pipe slightly corroded of front to rear (3.6.B.2c)

It was removed from sale because the seller of the one I bought pulled out. So I've spunked the money I'd set aside for the new one on repairs instead.

Does anyone fancy having this?  I have decided I really don't like it at all, it's just not me and too loud and naff.  Also, due to a distressingly enormous MOT repair bill for the van, I really need the money far more than the car.  I'll knock up a proper sale thread shortly, it's going to a friend's for a couple of weeks on loan but will be available after that.

I put Lidl wipers on my Audi 80 (out of the reduced bin so they were only £3!) and they were fine. Infact, still fine 10k miles later. Ergo: we do have less rain in the South

Enjoyed the motor museum

But very surprised that they didn't sell any back catalogue cutaway postcards or posters of old Haynes manuals of yore.b1d4407806f54da451f7f2610f894ffb.jpg

He's getting a less-fucked car hammered over the top of it.

What are you getting done?

New exhaust (full) (advisories for outer skin corrosion on the last few MOTs)

Top mounts & bearings

A pair of trackrod ends

Central brake pipes (light corrosion MOT advisory)

Discs and pads all-round

Autobox fluid change

Car's not fucked - when you have to pay labour because you're a mechanical incompetent it adds up quickly!

Yeh. I was thinking that ain't so cheap. I have a little independent accessories shop near me and his Bosch wipers are £6.

The drivers one had a 'blade refill' from our local 'car shop'. It's fine on the rear blade of the Zafira (i presume, amys not moaned yet) but 1000 miles as a front and it was leaving lines all over the shop.

I fully intend to never have to change them again. When I change the car I'll see if they fit its replacement, get my money's worth!

Ebay wipers have been hit and miss for me. Had some on my puma and first zx and they were fine. Saying that I didn't commute on the motorway back then. But the set for the xm was shit. Second zx had a £12 Goodyear blade from asda on and that was fine, but only fitted for 3 weeks before I sold it to Dean (I hope you kept that blade Dean...). Xantias were a bit crap but not annoying enough to be replaced.

If they weren't half price I wouldn't have bothered tbh! Made the spray on the m40 alot more bearable too

Now you all mention the price it does seem a bit steep at its non discounted value. But we don't have any good factors around here.

Plus the receipt for these is the first bit of paper bar the mot I've actually out in the car file for the gooner... That sounds bad now I've said it

1 owner, 119k with FSH.

paid too much for it,

BUT its mint, everything works (bar the CD player, which is missing its cartridge), its got a really clean MOT history and we've long had the urge to own one of these.

collectioning next week due to holidays :-(

now to look at moving the little gay jeep on, depending on how it manages in its up coming MOT :-D

Just sent my much loved C4 VTS to the bridge. Quick recap of my ownership

2012 bought (as a stop gap until I could decide what I wanted) with 97000miles black VTS 180 petrol, full leather, pan roof.

Fitted black Barry style wheels

Routine maintenance

Feb 2016 at 180000 car is crashed in the drivers side in work car park & written off.

Failed to find another car that I liked or another VTS with a pan roof which I now decided I had to have on any C4.

Bought car back from insurance company and bought a scrapped VTS HDI in black to repair my VTS.

Had car repaired and fully resprayed, however despite the actual repair being very good, the repray was pretty terrible all over and in particular on both rear side panels.

Car suffers a series of very expensive, hard to diagnose problems and had to be recovered several times.

July 2017 at 197000 clutch thrust bearing seizes, complete new clutch fitted. This is an 8 hour job and again expensive.

2 weeks later, clutch starts slipping and car is taken back for investigation by mechanic. Problem is found to be gearbox primary shaft bearing collapsing alowing oil to piss all over clutch. To fix it would be another clutch plus the gearbox rebuilt as no used boxes to be found and no recon boxes on the shelf locally.

I decided to call it a day as since being written off car has not been the same in reliability and also cosmetically. Not worth anything being a Cat D with 197000 miles. I know it's only a machine, but I really liked it and was upset to see it go.

Now down to XM as my only car, should be fun!
