It was my Birthday this week so I got some monies from Mum and Dad.  Sadly this year I am spending it on a dashcam, I would sooner treat myself to something more exciting but the standard of some peoples driving and all round road manners is now dreadful so I am left with little choice to spend over £100 to hopefully protect myself.

Going to attempt to set it up and test it tomorrow, queue an Audi Q7 triggering the accident detection mode in no time. Odds on.

EssDee, remember Amazon have their Black Friday two week sale on, different stuff every day but already seen a couple of dash cams go thorough.

I welded seat mounts to the fishnet recaro's I bought for the cortina. I put the cortina seat base mounts on it today for the first time and spent an hour trying to make the rod that goes between the runners operate both runners when you pull the level. Could I fuck get it  to work. I thought I had it it then realised when I pulled the lever I could only move one of the runners. The runners must be the same width apart as they where in the old car as I can still bolt it into the floor!

This is why it takes me years to fix cars.

My Pigsarsehole has the same problem - the bar has come out of one of the runners.  To adjust the seat I had to simultaneously lift the bar and lever the other runner with a BFO screwdriver whilst pushing the seat back.  Fortunately it's a one-off job.

I actually haven't got a car for sale at the moment.

I'm sure someone in the queue infront had a 'R.V.M cam' clipped onto/over the mirror.

It had a small screen at the left side, showing traffic in front....

And, yes, it is a functioning rear view mirror! ;)

Bloody brilliant, I have five cars, two are SORN, the Scirocco has a bit of a refusal to start with any degree of reliability from cold, the fair wife can't take the Jaguar to work because there's no where big enough to park the behemoth and now the sodding Porsche has cut out and won't restart on arrival at work. She is not best pleased.

Cheers Pil, I already bought one with very good reviews that was £119 down from £179.

My aim is to get a memory card and test it today on the mean streets of Southend.

Young lad from the other end of my road headbutted my car on Sat cutting a junction.

Dashcam shows it lovely

I may end up just welding a rod to the other release mechanism so you have to pull two handles to move the seat. it would be quicker

An increased police presence around town led me to be replacing sidelight bulbs in sub zero temperatures at 1am last night. Did the headlights while I was at it, probably for the best as neither sidelights or headlights were a matched pair.

Philips X-Treme Vision +130 bulbs seem to be as good as reviews suggest, though the philips sidelight bulbs seem a bit bright and white. Cleaning the lenses properly too made the headlights look a lot less shit, shame about the rest of the car.

Chances of being stopped while driving for work are now down by approximately 37%, though I'd guess a pizza delivery driver in a knackered polo is probably an easy target for a bored policeman, at least everythings legal.

So my dad's hunt for a new car is't going well from what I've gathered, and he hates the Mariva he's been given as a courtesy car. This lead him to message me saying "I may take your offer up and borrow one of your cars if I don't find one before Christmas" (I always offer him that, as long as he top's up the fuel).

I interpret the message as "So you really sure you want to put the Lexus away for the winter?".

Couple of months ago I had to buy a new battery for Mrs DFs modern. Anyways it came with a coupon for $40 off $100 spend. This was about to expire so I treated myself to a fancy new multimeter, a headlight restoration kit and a shiny chrome 14" air cleaner to replace the old 10" one.

It's the Daytona Turkey Rod Run this coming weekend (4 day car show with some 6000 cars in attendance and a massive swap meet too) and I'm still not sure which car to take. The Plymouth hasn't been driven more that 10 miles at a time (and that was back in May) and has done 0 miles since. I replaced the brake pedal assembly and messed around with the alignment so I expect I'll take the Dart as I know that's good to go.

Another visit to the engine shop, this time with the Rover's head so it can be pressure tested and skimmed if necessary and have the dodgy plug thread sorted out.  Probably have that back end of this week/start of next as they're quite busy.

Renault engine problem is definitely the caps which they've sorted out.  HOORAH!  But the liners got disturbed because they inspected the whole thing so Mike is dropping the spare liner gaskets off that I've got so they can put that right and get it buttoned up.

Going to be an expensive month but at least I should have two fully working engines by the end of it.

Didn't get the dashcam up and running as I spent most of the day trying to find a micro SD card for it then I went back out and forgot my wallet!

Anyway this is now really annoying me but the NS windscreen keeps really misting up when its raining or shortly after rain fall, and the only way to keep it clear is having the screen clear on full non Econ, which obviously makes it even less *economical. I can live with that small gripe but driving around to the sound of a full blown wind tunnel coming from behind the dash is annoying.

The NS plenum drains are clear even after a couple of days of heavy rain all seemed fine. Any ideas chaps?

I think its the weather, mine is like this just now as well. I think its the moisture held in the aircon. Mine is fogged, then gets worse for a bit, then clears. There is a demist button which helps a bit. I had hoped this year it would have been better as i have fixed the boot leak from last year but is just as bad fogging as last year.

EssDeeWon:  check the floor for holes/carpet for squidginess.  Sounds like moisture is trapped inside the cabin on the passenger side.  Had similar problems with the Princess and that was down to water coming in through the bit where the floor, sill and inner arch meet and the soundproofing foam wicking it up into the carpets.  Don't 75s have a reputation for leaking heater matrix?  That could also be a likely candidate I'd've thought.

Edited to add:  The Xantia had a leak through the windscreen trim seal on the bottom corner that let water in on the passenger side but that didn't result in fogging up, could still be  a good thing to look for all the same.

Awards 1 warning point

But how many bikes do you have for sale  :-D

Thanks Vulg, I will have a good poke around on the passenger side.  It must be something like that because its ONLY the passenger side, never on my drivers side.

@Nyphur, yes you are right I did notice that actually, simple enough to do and their only a tenner or summit.

Oh, and don't forget the talcum powder trick if there's no obvious sign of ingress.  You just poof it about in the affected area and it sticks to the water, works surprisingly well to highlight unexpected ingress points, like here on the Renault where it shows water coming in through the bulkhead-to-chassis seam.  Sure it was someone on here tipped me off about this as a thing and it's really useful.

Great morning had today sat on my drive with a river running down my neck replacing the rear disks and pads that I should've done in August when it was warm out instead of sitting in the garden burning meat and drinking.

Can't wait to get back into my old polo that has given me need to repair in 6 months now apart from the wiper linkage that was a £2 clip and ignore this one for another few weeks until I do the front track control arms before his MOT.

If at first you don't succeed, keep fixing it until it's dead.

The 75 passed it's MOT on Friday :)

This evening I drove it into a flood and hydrolocked it :(

It was less than 1/2 a mile from my house, so Mrs_Pirate towed me home and tomorrow I'll see if it can be persuaded to live again.  I'll remove the plugs, clear out the air intake, and turn it over - anything I've missed?  Will replace the oil if it's not obviously dead.

Scirocco will be plug gaps, don't you think?

My wife lost her battle with cancer on Saturday evening. Ironicly it was her birthday and our wedding anniversary has well. Thanks to all who took part and organised the 75 raffle and donating the money raised to good causes. I will thank you in advance for any comments because I am busy with kids and only getting on now and again. Once again thanks to you all.
