Hi guys!

I would like to ask you about the fan-wheel on my Pajero V6. As you can see on the pictures, it´s broken between the fan-blades.

Now I ordered a new one and had that installed. I am not sure though if it was neccessary, because the old fan wheel did not feel weak.

I tried to break it with my hands but failed because there is a metal-ring inside. I am not sure if that massive thing might break.

The fan on my Galloper looks exactly like the one above. Should I have that changed too? I´m unsure.

What you you suggest?

Been moving house of late, necessitating van rentals.

Over the weekend I had a new shape transit LWB featuring some brand of Duratorq TDCi. Absolute crock of shit. It had 19k on it and was already clattering like a bastard. Agricultural ain't in it. I told the rental feller who said "Oh we service them every 10k, the Ford's are a bit noisier". Comparable to my old man's 180k smiley DI more like.

Other issues: It feels like it's been designed to be as close to piloting a car as possible, but in doing so the clutch, brakes and steering are horribly light, giving no confidence and a numb feeling. Oh and the engine revs automatically when you bring the clutch up, WTF?!?

Also the doors didn't seal properly so strong gusts of wind pulled them away and gave a draft.

The suspension is pretty good over bumps, but in being so soft (even with a full load), the whole van wallows about when cornering or in strong wind, adding to the lack of confidence.

The build quality (Turkey's finest) was laughable. The paint was good and thick and the panels were solid, but they were barely screwed together.

By comparison the Pug Boxers I've had the few times before were much better. Apparently the same TDCi lump shared by PSA but drove far more nicely. Steering light but communicated well. Simple but solid interior. Suspension much firmer so bumpy unladen, but with significantly better feel to drive.

Could be I've just driven a particularly shagged Transit, but I know which one I'd have.

I did find out Ford China makes this beast:

Featuring a 2.8L Isuzu TD. PHWOAR!

If they are servicing every 10k they are doing it twice as often as the schedule says.

Mine, the previous model, used to clatter a bit sometimes when it was cold. Ford did an update on it, supposedly to address this, and now it clatters all the time.

I'm getting a new one soon and I'm not looking forward to it.

I looked there first but there were none. Hopefully I will get one of these ones from over the channel. If not might take it to an electrician. Might be cheaper.

Have you spoken to Mike in case he knows of any he is not holding in stock?

Decided to come clean to my insurer that the 6000-mile annual limit on the S-MX was looking a bit unlikely (given I've already covered over 2000 miles in it!). Upped to 10,000 with no extra charge! Nice.

Lidl has always been pretty good to me for spotting chod,Lidl in Veliko Turnovo takes it to a completely different level !

It seems every other car is a mk2 Golf,Renault 19 or an early Astra...and I've seen more Tigras in the last 3 days than in all my days in the UK....

Don't feel bad AngryD, it was fine when I picked it up :-) And sometimes, if I manage to warm it up enough before driving off, it's fine - and a very pleasing old bus.

I'm just frustrated at my inability to fix it. A few other (experienced, sensible) people have had a go and none of them have done any better so far.

Replaced the condenser so it shouldn't be that. I suppose it's not impossible the new one is duff too, but unlikely, and there's no blackening of the points that you'd expect to see if the condenser was out.

I'm sure it's fixable but frankly it's about as simple as cars get so I really ought to be able to sort it out myself. God help me with a V12 or a Lancia flat twin that runs the power steering off the cam belt.

Had a Capri umpteen ago that was a twat to start and everything seemed fine. Turned out advance weights in the distributor were sticking. Some 3 in1 and bingo...

Oh I'd call him far worse. And probably have. Because we're pals - I'm not even a member of the CCC...

I think the invective was directed at the pedant sticking to Citroen spec, rather than mr editor who was canvassing sage opinion. The chap inisisting we stick to .15 and .2 mm inlet and outlet has form and is knowledgeable if stuck in the past- I was amazed to receive an email in fact- his last correspondence was an actual letter in block capitals ( if not green ink)!

On other news, car all clean and polished for me to head off to France first thing. Have noticed n/s rear arch bubbling again so will bring this to body shop's attention on Monday when the car goes back there for the front wings and doors.

As everyone* was thrilled** with photos of my new shower, here is one of the new bespoke patio doors being delivered. Some sort of hardwood with a fifty year guarantee hand made by the Windsor estate carpenter.

Ps. Carpenter parked in the one neighbour's space who is certain to moan about the fact. Saw her taking photos to send to the estate to complain!

I discovered that there is an app available for phones that makes you shit yourself.

It is based around the premise of punishing you for your short term impulse decisions.

Hell, it even got me last night. I was minding my own business, when BAM! I was suddenly up to my neck in shit.

The app even takes the piss and mocks you for your stupid, stupid impulses.

Well that went predictably badly.

Went to the shed, started up the Vauxhall, it ran like shit and died when I took my foot off the gas, as usual.

Removed the airbox so I could get to the fast idle screw, turned it a bit one way.  Car wouldn't start at all.  Turned it a bit the other way, car started and ran maybe a bit better.  After filling the shed with a good amount of carbon monoxide, I felt brave enough to go for a drive.

Happy days, drove home fine and gave the Victor a light shampoo and wax as it was a little dusty.  Celebrated with a cup of tea.

Then went to drive it back to the shed.  It started, eventually, but was back to running as badly as ever.  It won't idle without a load of throttle, misfires horribly and the exhaust tries to smash itself to bits on the towbar mounting.  No amount of sitting and trying to warm it up helps any.  Limped back to the shed like that.

I'm sick of this now.  It's consumed two of the three waking hours this weekend I'm not spending working (again).  It's already had an entirely new HT-side ignition system, points gapped, new condenser, coil rewired.  The carburettor is clean and there's no sign of a blockage.  Please don't bother suggesting how to fix it, I don't have time and don't care (although thanks anyway).  I'm away working 6 days a week until Christmas so I can't take it to a garage, either.

If somebody wants to make me a ridiculously low offer to come and take this car away I'll almost certainly say yes.

Check diaphram in carb................pound to a poke in the eye it's frayed / holed / knackered

I think Beko merely lacks a capital R. I understand that Really is a channel on that telly telly bunkem box. Sounds like Autoshite TV is a thing.

Those 1930s Morris dashboards are a work of art 8)

Wolseley ones are even betterer and with a lighting up radiator badge you'd be cock of the walk. Unfortunately by 1938 the styling went all stodgy and it was all over.post-7547-0-98669200-1478592589_thumb.jpg

This Morris 14 is now on eBay with more upmarket wood an tings, too much for me at 11000 but it beats me how regular folk can spunk the same amount on used fiesta.

You really should give that enigma machine back to Bletchley Park, you were only meant to borrow it
