Re the Mitsubishi, I found my local dealer remarkably good when I was after a few bits for my '89 Galant. They do use a decent sized parts bin, so lots of parts would have been used on something else and might be readily available.

Worst case, there is always buying direct from Japan, it's relatively easy (Rinkya for example) but not cheap. My last order cost me £100 for shipping alone.

Hi , does the "bible" have any gumph on my Mitsubishi Sigma 3000 V6 Estate ,

1996 on a N plate , according to howmanyleft.com mine is the one and only on the road with one other on sorn ! I haven't needed any spares yet but that day is looming ,

Nothing on the Sigma I'm afraid, IIRC Sigmas are imported Galants and there's nothing on 3.0s in the book, seems biggest we got officially is 2.5.

Got two 20 litre tubs of new veg oil last night and as I was putting them in the boot, a lad in an old Iveco Daily pulled up and said he used it too. He reckons people are selling filtered WVO for 75p per litre and yet new it's about 61p.

 

Had a good chat with him, he certainly knew his stuff and was telling me about a problem with rats when he recycled his own.

Where can you buy new oil for 61p/litre? Obscure cash and carry?

 

My WVO mojo is pretty low, I have nearly run out of the not bad stuff I paid 30p a litre for in the summer and might have to buy some not so good stuff for 25p a litre to build up stocks.

Every local hotel and eatery seems to have its new oil supplied and old oil collected by Olleco.

One of my contacts has changed to self catering accommodation, another has stopped leaving oil out for me, the only contact I have left produces horrible fatty/watery oil with a bit of good oil on top.

Struggling to be arsed any more.

The Volvo isn't the best on veg oil despite my efforts.

Tempted to sack it off for an old Bosch XUD powered estate, or something efficient enough on diesel to not be worried about sourcing veg.

All the faff was fine when WVO was free or very cheap.

I honestly don't know, that's just what he said. He also said his mostly came from Costco which is where mine originated from, but it's 65p per litre, not 61.

 

My experience with waste is very limited, the chippy that supplies with me new gets paid for his waste and to be honest for the mither I just think 65p a litre for nw isn't worth arguing about, it's still about 43p cheaper than diesel locally, I think.

My 306 struggled with it at first, incidentally, seemed to slow the car right up and I was getting flat spots near the end of the rev range, but it's settled in now and is going better than it ever has. I reckon it's probably going to be fairly useless on motorways as it was always a struggle (with this and the last one) maintaining a speed around 80mph, as it just takes one slow vehicle pulling out and you lose momentum. I'm not complaining though, as for everyday use and arsing about it it's perfect.

I've just found out that I still own a Honda CJ250T that I haven't seen since 1996. My former landlord is selling up and he's just asked if I want it back, I assumed it had been disposed of years ago.

 

 

It's on an S plate and still looked more or less like that one when I last saw it. I bought it with no compression on one cylinder, suspected head gasket.

LP - You know what you need to do and it's the VAG 4-pot like me & 320touring, I don't think it can be beaten for mingebag motorists.

£246 including long life oil and pollen filters. Expensive.

If anyone is near North Norfolk you can come and get the stuff from my work, I currently have about 80l of wvo in the store room you can have for gratis and there'll be more soon. If you are a bit far away it might be worth waiting until there's enough of it to make the trip worth while.

Guy I work with got a quote to replace his glowplugs on his Qrashskye - £286!

There's nothing wrong with them, just dealer after money for nothing.

10 hours in the SLK today. To-from Cheltenham. Twice.

 

I think we need to start implementing monthly driving tests, including motorway discipline, lights and signals, and you get an immobiliser card that renews on each test. Or I need an RPG on the car with a near-infinite supply of ammo.

 

On the plus side, man, that car is SO good now. Properly quick, properly smooth. And it's just going to keep getting better :D

Brill - I've been absolutely LUSTING over a Viva, Corsa Sting, Sting R, or an Adam Jam so this is great news.

 

 

The new Vauxhall models that are not part of the scheme are the entire Viva range, Corsa Sting and Sting R models, and the Adam Jam.

Did you have a poke round? I went last year and they had a lovely Monza inside, the stuff in the outside yard up top was grim but I don't remember it looking absolutely terminal. I liked the place.

I've had it for about four years now , it came with original handbook , sold by a mitsi main dealer in Essex , as far as trying to find info locally , by locally I mean in the UK ! Not a lot ! , 1 bloke in Germany , 1 in USA and 1 in New Zealand , where just to confuse things even more they are called different names and the dates of model updates/ facelifts don't coincide with UK models !

As far as I can work out they sold 136 of them between 92 & 96ish , different from a galant apparently due to a change in Japanese tax laws which allowed them to be 4 inches wider !!! , huge in the back over 4 feet between the rear arches and about 7 foot nearly flat load length , plenty of room to go camping but the mrs won't go for it ! .

Drives beautifully when its behaving , but a complete b**** when its not but because its the last one on the road I feel I should try and save her but having tried mitsi main dealers for a few md specific parts it ain't gonna be cheap , idle control valve £375 !!!! The whole car cost less than that !

If you ever see or hear of another one please let me know , I'm down in Sussex but will travel !!!

Visa Twin pot home now from Rye, 158.3 miles including round the M25 yesterday.

 

Not sure that 35 bhp is enough for me!

Definitely UK sold rather than import and they must have sold more than 136. I had one nine years ago on a K plate, an automatic. Good car. The engine is the single cam 12 valve 3 litre which I think was shared with the Shogun so I would be amazed if things like the ICV would be different between the two. Alternatively get onto Australian eBay and look for Magna or Verada parts, as that's where the car was built.
