Yes, that's Lakes Volvo.

They're about a 20 minute drive from me if you want anything storing in the meantime.

Hospital run in a 64plate Nissan Qashqai last night.

A very easy car to drive as of modern standards eveything is taken care of,electric handbrake so you don't have to lower a lever, auto lights so you don't have to turn a switch, stop start button so you don't have to turn a key.

The 1.5dci engine is quick, quiet and economical 48mpg.The suspension swallow all potholes and bumps so as not to disturb the inmates.

The electric power steering, god if this is progress , to artificial, far to light at low speeds giving a feel of over steering. Some beleve power sterring is the work of the devil this is in a different league.

The head lights are just crap capable of lighting the road immediately in front of the bumper but no further.More light from the led running lights.

But all in not a bad car don't think i will have one and around 18k

oops

Horrible!

Just imagine you have to brake hard or even have an accident! Just heavy braking could kill you and your passenger. Irresponsible!

Quick run into town in the Nippa. The suspension is certainly not Citroen compliant. After the XM, I also found it a bit odd to be driving something that slows down on hills. I love how the engine is so pathetic that it actually raises the tickover if you turn the headlights or heater on!

It does at least manage to ride better than a Mini. Just about. Mind you, I seem to recall that the Sirion had the ability to make a smooth road anything but. Maybe I should fill the back with slabs to free up the suspension a bit...

Scirocco dropped off at garage to solve reluctant first gear selection.

Courtesy car is an X plate n/a 306 with no ignition barrel.

It is the slowest car I have ever driven.

in the world

ever.

Why ? Do you need a cv joint for a golf?

That's prob what you will get when you ask for a mondeo exhaust . But never mind it's 25 percent off all incorrect parts this week

Posted

Barefoot, prob not the cause of your first gear issue, but I use Redline MTL in my 'rocco gearbox and it made the changes smoother, including losing the occasional 2nd gear grind.

Scirocco ? Poor gear selection ? Surely not ? Linkage like a cock in bucket maybe ?

I forgot about the fun to be had with the plastic ball and other assorted crap that makes up the linkage on these.

Sorry if it seems like I'm having a harping on and having a pop at you here not meant that way at all, would it have taken you much longer to drop the back seats and load them flat in the boot area? How you've loaded them does look a recipe for disaster, i know you said that you were cautious driving home but that doesn't mean everyone else on the road was being as cautious as you, remember it only takes one cock up from someone else and it will end in tears, might be worth remembering in future.

And for an extra treat you either lie on the central front seat mount or contort yourself around the engine to weld the bulkhead where the clutch cable has pulled through . Cheers for that vw

Is she buried where your going to be laying the slabs??

I thought my Scirocco gear change was spot on.... Although weirdly offset, 2nd not behind 1st etc. But very precise.

Thanks, I'll give that a go the next time I get it running well enough to care about it again!

When it works, it works well, kt just seems to drop/slip out of adjustment once in a while.

Thank you

Mine too, when it works.

It just keeps losing first or fifth.

I loaded my VW with slabs a few years back. I loaded them very carefully behind it's bulkhead but may have been somewhat over it's maximum payload. It wouldn't pull 2nd gear up the hill out of Malvern which slightly irritated the queue of cars behind me.

Today has been fun. I took a van over to a friends house and helped him take some furnature up to the auctions at Leominster which were packed with the finest chod, though I didn't get a picture of the shonky Capri towing an even shonkier trailer.

Then I spent the afternoon 'fixing' the ignition switch on the BX he is selling. It involved brute force as there were a certain amount of anti theft measures that required bypassing

After much messing about trying to source a reasonably priced ABS sensor, apparently one should be with me tomorrow, hopefully in time for the MOT due tomorrow afternoon for the volvo sootomatic 760. Ive left it to the last minute and I hope my (newly discovered) ABS diagnostic skills are up to scratch. If that dash light starts winking at me again on the way to the testing station I may just pull in and have a mental breakdown on the way.

Been buzzing around in the SportKa today. 1.6 8v with 97bhp it's quite a peppy little thing and it's just like driving an oversize go-kart - well chuffed for 550 notes with12 months MOT, 62k and full service history.

Short lived however - pulled up at home this evening, turned it off and heard a 'Pssshhh'. Cue a massive puddle of coolant underneath. Fucksticks.

Will have to wait now until I'm less busy which will be at least a week or so before I can look into it in more detail.

I've never overloaded one of my cars.  Except for that one time...

Some guy in a big white car of some sort gatecrashed what appeared to be some sort of impromptu Autoshite meet in Sainsburys car park today:

Could it be the fault of the infamous 1990s Ford heater valve ?

It's looking very likely!

I've had a quick look tonight and it's very damp along the black plastic at the rear of the expansion bottle which is in the top left hand corner of the engine bay. The water has obviously been coming from there and you can see where it has gone straight down the engine bay. Just behind that bottle (under the wipers) is the location of said heater control valve.
