Got the Saab starter out. Unless you're like me with small hands and thin arms there's no chance you'll reach it! 50% of the job was still done blind as the single arm I could get up the back of the engine was then blocking my view.

New one looks bigger but all the connections and mounts seem to line up. We'll see!

"These cows Dougal ....."?
No, wait, the one further back is bigger? Damn. Ahhh - photo is obvs. back to front, no fooling me

Refund is being processed.

My washing machine tensioner arrived today. Fixing something in the warmth of the house is much more preferable! (The part does fit this time!)

thanks for the heads up :) I had already seen it as someone else on here let me know about it in my thread but I do very much appricate the heads up none the less incase I had not, especially as I dont have instagram so I cant check it for this sort of thing

she does indeed get noticed and photographed quite a bit and I had been wondering how long it would be before I started showing up about the place, but its all part of the fun of driving her, I think its great how she brings many smiles to many people :) I wonder how long before I end up with a "reputation" tho as "that Invacar running around London" like how @Zelandeth when he uses his regular is referred to in comments as as "Oh theres a bloke here in Milton Keynes who runs about in one of those!" (same for the chap with MPH759P in Sheffield also) :)

Oh fook, sounds like a right muddle of shit going on there - I know its frowned upon, but is there a delete it all option?

This is no exaggeration, but every courier I know thats run euro 6 vans has had emissions kit problems, from Berlingos to Sprinters.

I know I'll have to take the plunge one day for myself, I'm just putting it off for as long as possible.

Best of luck with the ungrateful bugger mate, after 13 weeks off you're due a change fortune.

The first thought that crossed my mind was DPF/EGR deletion, but then I learned DVSA will fine you £2500 if you get pulled in for one of their onceovers. Not worth the risk IMHO. If, as I suspect, this van is beyond redemption, then I'll definitely go back to a Euro 5 and just pay the CAZ/ULEZ as I go. Have my eye on a nice little 2013 Fiestavan which does OMGMPG of around 87 (1.6 PSA lump). Most of the work I do is small stuff, so a Doblo is probably too big, bizarre as that may seem

Now running like a champ, feels good to save £300 and to not throw something away for a £13 part.

New starter is too big for the 9-5, it's fucking massive, in fact most of the back of the engine would have to be binned to make it fit. Ebay, fucking arseholes.

What's worse, I cannot find a replacement ANYWHERE. Fucking pissed right now.

Here's the original, if anyone can help:

When I changed the front subframe I tied to replace anything that was suddenly easily accessible..... The starter had always felt a bit lazy so I ordered a Bosh item from eBay.... Exactly what you got and far too big!

I got a refund, sent the part back and it turned up again a few weeks later after being refused by the seller 😂. Currently sat on a shelf in the garage. No idea which model it actually fits.

I got pulled over for an inspection by VOSA recently, coming off the A500 for the M6 at J16, they were directing vans into the abnormal load area on the island. Tyres and lights checked, a quick walk round the van, but nothing else, I thought they'd dip the tank, but I was stopped for about two minutes, wished a safe journey and sent on my way.

If it can't be fixed it sounds a perfect fit for WBAC disposal and picking up the Fiesta. Hopefully you won't take a bath on it mate.

The garage I use are pretty clued-up on DPF issues and have a huge cleaning chamber, they're in Derby, so not a million miles away from you, happy to pass on the details if you want them - fully understand if you're sick of it though and just want rid.

They've not asked for it back so I'm going to do a bit of researching to find out what it does fit and sell it on Marketplace. I'll let you know!

Good to know. But yeah, no more expensive repairs on this one. Fix the oil leak (if possible) and probably punt it on at a massive loss, as is the Autoshite way. TBF, the DPF issue was the easiest to fix (Jimmy O'Riley off of the Youtube is my go to).

Cheers I got one on ebay. I tend to avoid Autodoc as their delivery times are a bit hit and miss.

Got my new telly

It's definitely a nicer display than the old one even just watching 1080p stuff

Testing it with the Restless Natives Blu-ray then. Why not!

End of an era...

Most runs out on the bikes usually had a stop at the Pondy

I was there last year, going out for a walk on the berwyn range. I’m sure someone will take it on as it’s the only place for miles.

I have just bought a box of old fashioned motoring correspondence from a disused garage.

I'll possibly write it up as an article.

This caught my eye as one of the items. From the heyday of Jaguar - the 'Brown's Lane Coventry' years. Even the correspondence was stylish.

I'm possibly the only person here who has met MD Sir William Lyons - was the Earls Court Motorshow 1967 - the opening trade only day. I was with my grandad who was a contractor to Jaguar.

Sir William was on the Jaguar stand as it was trade day. That was the year we had an S-Type delived from the factory - silver with black leather interior.

My dad worked for a subcontractor to BMC as well - for a few years we had a new Austin Cambridge each year - delivered from Longbridge.

Far off days.

More miscellaneous correspondence. Suffice to say RVE909 no longer exists. These early monocoque bodies by Pressed Steel were riddled with rust traps. Probably a MK1 - which in 3.4 litre form was a blisteringly quick car for the era.

Have you had a look at the Panmure Road address on Streetview? Interesting car on the driveway, becoming gradually overgrown.

I think somebody died. Hence the material going up for sale.

Just looking at the BL spec 22. On my work laptop.   This was a group of specs called Group 22 Non-Metallic Materiel Specs.

There seems to be about 100 different ones.

They include specs for all fluids used from oil to antifreeze.

There is one for "defining the performance requirements of a decorative finish on plastics where the decorative treatment is applied to the viewed face if the component, and the only protection that may be afforded to the decoration is a clear lacquer.

There's one for conductive seam sealer

One for carpets.

Defining the requirements for bonding trim materials using heat.

I can't find the one which relates to pipes and hoses as the file titles are typically 22we01 and I don't have a key.

Imagine ford sending that type of letter out when the early ecoboosts started exploding 😂

I imagine changing the split/perished hose wouldn't be as easy as it was in 1984 though
