I was out doing some more airbag light troubleshooting this morning when a neighbor I know a bit came over to me.

His insignia has failed it's mot with condensation in the headlight, could I help remove it later... 🙄

Watching some YouTube videos it looks fiddly but do-able, I'll have a go this afternoon for him.

I had my entire bsi down and out

IMG20241109103422.thumb.jpg.a395c370bce11edb150048176f86b409.jpg

The back of the bsi board looks good but I've no idea how to seperate the front to have a look at all the business side. Left it alone, the back doesn't look corroded so 🤷

This was much easier to slide the connectors apart to get my multimeter connected to the wires

IMG20241109100207.thumb.jpg.cb970f9d29d79dd0dba09b4446abf6b1.jpg

I ended up probing every white and red wire from the engine bay loom side to the connectors and all test fine. I then tested what I *think* is the main comms ref and white wire twisted pair from an ancient forum thread that mentioned it and that was fine too 😢

All back together and the car still starts but the airbag light is still in. Need to think of another idea now 😂

You have checked the under seat wiring connectors?

Yep. Did some pictures in my thread but they've all been gone through and I'm confident their not causing the issue. I did knock them once and the airbag light flashed until I wiggled them in the time honored way and it went off again (been moving the seat alot that day so Eva could drive around the FoD).

This is a solid airbag light and a lexia doesn't see the airbag system at all. If I turn the passenger airbag off with its switch that needs the ignition key it does turn the airbag off and display the pass airbag off light alongside the airbag one, with no beep, so I'm hoping for some main power feed/circuit sensor wire somewhere and once fixed all will be well🤞🤞

Looking forward to being off my tits on paint fumes until Tuesday 😁

Oh it’s a TI! Clicks on!

No title. Fucksake. 😭

I messaged the seller to see if the title can magically appear for a few € more if it’s just the case of him can’t being arsed with the paperwork or got it as part-ex and now can’t be bothered chasing the owner. Expecting to be either ignored or told no.

Update: Owner died, and it got sold on as no title. The guy selling it now has contact of previous owners.

Now, in theory it’s possible to add this into inheritance and get the title. I even have a lawyer who would be willing. It’s not even a complicated process. BUT. It requires the previous owners to play ball, and there’s no way to know without talking to them. I can only talk to them after buying a car. It has fuckall value as parts, as who drives 620Ti over here.

350€ gamble. Worth it?

Always! 😎

Even with distinct possibility of heirs telling me to sod off? Unfortunately you can’t just apply for a V5 here, it needs to be a notarized sale, and as owner is dead, it needs to be handed down as part of the estate first, then sold on to get the title.

Fair point, but... you'll never know until you give it a go!

Sigh.... Cars....

ANYWAY. Ma barely uses Micra, so the battery ran out. So a new battery was purchased and a pair of wipers for the Vectra and Jag.

20241110_151757.thumb.jpg.c587803b9641df686c46ffb45e2b79b5.jpg

Except, the battery was wrong one

20241110_153239.thumb.jpg.0e2c3c357ab48a53bf2c83f95e33a681.jpg

It was too large to fit into the Micras tray, so, had to go back to Halfords and get it exchanged. Poor lady on the desk was having to deal with all sorts.

20241110_155647.thumb.jpg.cbe1c78ea42557621bc6924d7a128c3b.jpg

So back to the Micra and the new battery got fitted. I took it for a blast up and down the road to free off the brakes as it literally hadn't been used for a good month or so.

So, it looks like the Micra will be for sale soon.

Jag;

Except it isn't. I topped it up anyway and it didn't make a difference and light remains. Sod it. Looks like it's a sensor then.

Really? FFS. Now gotta get a new badge.

That header tank repair is holding up well, I think that must be ten years old.

Same here. Any family members have to agree on any sale of estate or belongings.

And anyone showing any interest means any item is obviously worth a gazillion leva....

The sat nav in my Rover 75 (also 2003) works well enough, but it also seems to struggle to read the disc when it's cold and damp.

Gave mine in the Saab a proper go this evening and worked perfectly… pretty much a modern at 2007 though.

Motorway remoulds! Takes me back. Anyone remember Kelly Springfield?

Got a few bits done this weekend.  Fitted new cabin filters to the Getz in the hope that it will help stop the car misting up every time it's a bit damp.  It's been pretty dry all weekend here so haven't been able to tell whether it's worked or not.

Backed the Ampera up onto the ramps for a look underneath the back.  It's all solid under there but there's a fair bit of flaky paint.  I gave it a quick jet wash and then started to attack it with the wire brush attachment on the drill, but I obviously forgot to switch the charger on last time I "charged" the drill as the battery ran out after a few minutes.  So that's going to have to wait for another day.  I'm also going to order some more Lanoguard spray as the last bottle I bought has nearly run out.

I did a bit of light dismantling under the bonnet of the Merc and found the source of the minor exhaust blow.

20241110_140722.thumb.jpg.ef680d9bb68499aa0da0348d2d37f607.jpg

That's the vibration damper bit on the pipe that runs from the turbo to the down pipe.  It's only a little short section but I've not been able to find the part number for a new one - there are a few used ones on eBay though for not too much money, although I have a feeling it might be a bit awkward to fit - the OM642 is rather shoehorned into the C Class engine bay.  It's going to need doing though as eventually the pipe is going to crack all the way round and then the slight whiff of exhaust in the cabin won't be a slight whiff anymore.

That's about all I did on the cars, I rarely get much done this time of year as I get up late and it gets dark early.  I have been having some fun with phones though.  Buoyed by my recent success in resurrecting the two ancient Siemens phones I found in a kitchen drawer that had lain untouched for at least a decade, I decided to dig out all the other old phones I have around the place and see how many of them were able to be brought to life.  This is the result:

Phones2.thumb.jpg.218d7999c81ff2b5f35681fa2a5700cc.jpg

23 working mobile phones, and three tablets (one of which I have absolutely no memory of buying).  Which amusingly means I have the same number of phones as I do pushbikes.  I think I may have hoarding issues.

Bought a new car with a view to caravanning again. 2.0 diesel auto 4x4. Pretty much top spec and only 95k miles. Just about the right time to buy a caravan too.

It's amazing what £5k can buy you car wise.

What's the one on the bottom row third from the right, with the qwerty keyboard on it?
