Me neither, funnily enough!

I did intend to get a towbar mounted bike rack though. Which of course doesnt need any electrics.

You could buy an e46 for the cost of one of those.

My madre put her panda in for its MOT today, it's got an actual hole in the rear axle at the springs, rusted to buggery. £700 for a new one or the bridge. An 07 plate with less than 20k as well

Shit. Thats a wounder. Think I'll stop whinging then.

Brakes n bulbs...... not a bad turnout to be fair. I take it you didn't check the bulbs before you turned up, they haven't just mysteriously died on the way or on the ramp?

A mate rubbed down the rusted pipes on his and cleaned them up. I think* he then vaselined them to stop further rot, not sure if this works or not and I didn't see the car again as he was rear ended by (of all ironies) a beavertail truck.......

Looks easily doable in the week remit.

I didnt check any bulbs at all no. *leaves gap so folk can tut and roll their eyes*

In my defence, presumption is usually sufficient. Well, 76% of the time it works 100% of the time.

The better ones do. They have lights and numberplate so that you can still see the lights.

Axle out of a scrapper shirley?

That's what I've told her to enquire about. Dunno if she's just being fobbed off with the high quote as the garage doesn't want the job. Not sure how much of a PITA the work would be

Take it welding the axle (beam) is a no-no for MOT? Of course with a good weld ground down and painted over who would know?

I'm going to ask around for her. Surely I can get a repair done to this for under 700 notes

I seem to recal that welded repairs are a no no. But, do it right and who knows? Consider the guy with the Continental with a rusted hole in the FRONT subframe on his pristine car. That was a bill that would make Bill Gates eyes water! Seems it lived on a farm (poor farmer?)  and the front subframe had filled up with mud and just rotted away.

That sort of corrosion in the spring pan is not uncommon on older Pandas that have seen some salt and sat around in damp places.

If it’s going to the bridge then I’d be interested in buying it and sorting it out. I like Pandas. PM me if that’s the case, thanks.

I've asked Specialist cars to sell the Bentley! Don't know if they will or not but they do know the car rather well seeing as I have spent £20K with them on the sod! I've been looking at values of Brooklands 'R's and they are all over the place from high teens (not turbo, none 'R') to £40K for a low mileage one, quite a few at 30 ish. Not really something I want to do to be honest, but I hardly ever use it (600 miles last year) and the garage it is in is a disaster and I want rid of the place. It's not worth the money or the hassle.

Also, it doesn't look at home sat outside here, and while I love it to bits, it costs a fortune to keep in good order and I cannot have this car in anythig other than perfect order. Also asked Watchfinders to value my daily watch, retail (new) is £5450 they say it's worth £6220. How does that work? I do need some cash, and I do need to move, sick of this damp cold hovel and it's time for me to get my life in order.

Of course, all this will change tomorrow.... :)

So. In a moment of madness brought on by the insignia shitting it's head gasket out along with the abs ECU and other assorted shizzle, I appear to have bought a 2013 Dacia Duster... A posh one too- radio and air con!

Wether this proves to be a boring modern or go all Renault on me remains to be seen, But I can live in hope!

Had a pair of new front tyres fitted to The Aero today, which has made a big difference to how the car feels:

After being on the car since October 2016, the old ones were nearly worn down to the tread wear indicators. No wonder the car was wheel spinning so much in the snow last week! At least they were evenly worn. Interestingly, the rear tyres still have more than half of their tread..

New consumer unit fitted. No hitch in the circuits when tested in the end. Wahoo! Was worried considering the amount of bodging I found when I ever removed/replaced anything. Apparently some of the crimps behind the old consumer unit looked a bit suspect. All sorted now though.

Pretty simple circuits in this house! Admittedly its not the biggest of places anyway.

I commended him on his neat wiring job.

Also getting him back to fit a extractor in the bathroom and have a proper SWA 16a feed put into the garage. If we're still here next winter, it means I can safely* run a electric heater. Also no fear that a welder will take out the power either.
