Attention all Renault Lickers!

Renault Dealers are doing fixed price cambelt jobs @ £399 - excluding Renault Sport models. However they do cover the V6 model which is actually supposed to be tighter access than most Renault Sport models. I even got them to go check that it applied.

I wonder if that also includes the Avantime and Espace, which is 10 hour or so engine out job??!

Incidentally, I parked next to a XC90 at the garage. Now the Gooner isn't a small car, but the XC90 makes it look like a Ka.

EDIT: LOL I just realised I parked it in the Volvo Estimation and Diagnostics bay. Very fitting.

One of the wife's friends has one of those XC90s.   It has some kind of pure electric mode that's good for about 10 miles due to the sheer bulk of the thing.   Although all modernz are shit obviously I am quite interested in having a closer look at it and seeing how it switches modes.   I think it even has some kind of self steering autopilot ability as well.

Why is everyone that comes to buy a car from me a mechanic or garage owner? Why don't they source cars from the trade and sort them out themselves?

Because all the cars in the trade are too fucked for them to be arsed fixing in their spare time, while they aren't getting paid to do it?

Good point well presented but they're just buying the same pig with lipstick on at retail price (in the sub £3k market)

Tonight I'm staying at a Truck stop in Bristol, a slight world away from my usual Travelodge digs. One of the other drivers got me a room here as I didn't want to sleep in the cab of my van (which is yet ANOTHER Sprinter Van)

These places really are basic, complete with heavily trod into Brown 70s carpet and second hand rickety old wardrobes.

Collected the Uno from the garage, needed a bit of work getting the brakes right for the MOT, bill just short of 200 + 100 quid for the caliper a month before, they are super sharp now though!  I did think it would make a great car to reshell a rotten turbo into at some point, can't see me doing it with my level of spannerista skills.

Gave the panda colour a wash, it does come up well, should have took a photo as it's covered in dead insects now, drove across to Sandsend nr Whitby which is having some major work done to the sea defences so no parking anywhere.  Drove on to Runswick a little gem tucked away, Lucy made me laugh as she seamed to think seaweed bobbing in the shallows were ducks and kept running in to the surf to investigate and come out again looking puzzled.

I went to see my mate today whos just hold of this Marina 1300 Super Deluxe that's been of the road since 1981, it was customised at the time with side exit exhausts and jacked up rear axle with under lights!

To give it's due it's suprisingly solid but it will need a lot of work, my mates plans on getting it back on the road by August, I'm not holding my breath.

We did try and get the old 1275cc lump running but it needs some new bits although it did try to fire. Check out that rear axle!.

Those new XC90's are fucking massive.

Yet they all have 2 litre engines.  I can see those lasting well.

NAAAAAAAAAAAT.

I'd totally forgotten how shapely the Marina saloon was, and how much I loved the wheel trims on the super deluxe.

Thanks for the memory!

Got a new addition to the fleet last week. Its probably too new to be shite! But it was around shite money at least £450! Its a Rover 25 diesel with 43000 miles and 5 months MOT. All fairly unremarkable apart from the colour which matches my ZT. It's Lagoon Supertallic and probably a one off! No records exist for 25's and 45's but they are rare in monogram colours.

In another news from a couple of weeks ago Raffle Rover passed it's MOT with one advisory for a tyre. It did need a new set of front brake pads this weekend but in general has been totally reliable :-D

Those Rovers are a nice colour.

Bloody hell, those spring shackles are something aren't they?!

They look quite worrying TBH, i can't see much stopping them from folding back on themselves! The pinstriping is quite shocking too as well as the flowers around the windows! It even has a chrome rocker cover and numerous holes over the bodywork from side markers!

Don't suppose it has/had/evidence of a row of fog lamps across rear panel doubling up as brake lamps? Or was picked up from somewhere near Worcestershire?
