Shitefest 2018 (U.K.) Chez Saabnut 9-10th june

Well, there is just over 3 months to go, so I suppose I should set the ball rolling. Firstly, a warning to anyone that likes to stay in touch with the outside world, communications from here are poor. Mobile signal? No 4g, no 3g and for most of the garden, no signal at all. There are a few spots where a signal can be found, and half a mile up the track a good signal can be had, but that is not much use if you are sitting around the fire! I do have broadband, but it is via satellite and is metered. I have no problem with people using it, but a load of shiters downloading youtube will soon see my allowance used up!

I will start a list below, please add a (p) if you are are provisional or not certainly coming. Once you have put your name down as definitely coming, I will send you a PM with my full address, email and phone numbers. I am not keen to make those details public as I am sure you can understand. Extra days stay (particularly beforehand) are no problem, but I will be heading for Le Mans on the Tuesday, so if you want to stay after that, you are on your own!

OK, so who is coming to Shitefest 2018 then?

1. Saabnut (I suppose I should be here as I will not have to travel far! :-D )

I also might have a few cars to lend out if any southern shiters wanted to fly up and borrow them for the weekend.

These include the knobvan, Proton and possibly the W123.

I own a Volvo. I don't know if it's ever been to Scotland so I'll have to make sure. Besides, there's bound to be convoy antics, and a bloody good long drive. It's a time to aim to have the car fully sorted for as well...

tl;dr very, very in.

Besides, someone needs to bring THE BANNER.

I'm a 'possible / probable' but I'm not putting myself down just yet because most of my vehicles are in need of fettling and/or not reliable enough for longer distances & I don't know which one I'll have time or funds to fix yet.

Oh yeah, southerners - the M6 north out of Birmingham is a smart* motorway for a considerable distance towards Manchester. It isn't fun and more often than not is set to bloody 50.

However, it does at least flow better than it used to...

This does sound like an opportunity for an epic delivery thread from Bulgaria, should anyone buy something on their trip over....

Count me in!

My intention is to come by train probably on the Saturday and head home on the Monday (because fuck travelling by train on a Sunday). Lift from the station or a loan of something shite would be very much appreciated. Will most likely have a greyhound (on lead) with me.

I plan to start driving on Thursday and arrive when I arrive, and leave late Sunday and drive to my dad's for the day/night and get home Tuesday. Whatever happens happens, happy to help pick people up from train stations etc.

Ill need to go shopping when I'm there, won't drive 400 miles with a heavy car

Posted

Exactly why I've not stated what I'll be in. I genuinely have no idea!

Well,I daresay delivery could be an option if the costs are covered......

The old guard of the Scottish contingent will be travelling north from the Glasgow area on the Friday lunchtime / afternoon so if you want to get a train to Glasgow, Perth or Dundee then we can pick up on the way. We'll be heading back on the Sunday evening though.

Thank you, I will have a look at the logistics and see what's easiest.
