EyesWeldedShut Posted March 20 Posted March 20 Cairn Ryan's a lovely* place to break down. Would* recommend. Used to be a 'night club' there where we could get underage booze whilst still at school. Vodka and orange was 40p and the orange juice was neat Quosh. Quality eh? Wibble, Cluffy, Dan29 and 1 other 3 1

I whizzed up the road in the recovery car, replacement fuel pump relay in hand … Fitted it and….. crank but no start. The battery was on the weak side so will return tomorrow, try again with more electricity deployed (kind of like in f1) and check for fuel at the rail and spark. My gut feeling is its fuel and its the pump as the current tank is quite rusty and im wondering if, in driving it quite hard (hammered it more than i usually drive) to get to university on time following avoiding a road blockage on tuesday its sucked up too much in-tank crap and frazzled it. Is it an internal pump or external? If external, you know what to do. if internal and it has more than 1/4 tank. Get Someone to turn the key whilst you rock the hell out the car, sometimes the slushing of fuel can do the trick HMC 1
HMC Posted March 21 Author Posted March 21 Fleet news- Carlton still non starting, replaced the fuel pump relay and tried a few suggestions but nothings coming up the the fuel rail. The Cougar- felt bit flat over 3k rpm. Sure enough the Inlet manifold control motor was dead, and some of the linkages were broken. So the breathing was fixed for under 3k demands only. replaced the motor, and in the interim repaired the linkage with cable ties until the proper plastic clips arrive. So now, it breathes and pulls progressively and cleanly from 3k-6k as it should. Its no busso but its a nice little engine. If you ever need a non de plume, you can go with one of the more exotic Numatic names - was there a Gordon? One that had special tools and only got sold to select existing customers, that sort of thing.

HMC Posted March 26 Author Posted March 26 Fleet news. A car advertised on these beige pages will be joining the fleet over the easter weekend (thanks to a very accommodating vendor who is heading out to the westcountry that weekend- you known who you are, and thankyou. ) The carlton im expecting to be sold locally, but if anyone wants it for £300 and my local contact doesnt follow through, with its broken fuel pump, rotten tank (with new replacement supplied) and a few crusty bits but mot to september, let me know. And whats better than one morris minor? TWO worldofceri, Somerset Suffolk, dome and 20 others 22 1

This would be a heroic drive up to Scotland with a fuel cell in the back seat and a pump plugged into the cigarette lighter. If I had the time.. Schaefft, Westbay, dome and 2 others 1 4

Crt of some size (not tiny), my dad got it for me, probably would have been pre 2005 though though now I think about what room I was in at.the time 🤔 Was replaced with a 40" Sony crt I bought from a mate (which I had upstairs in my bedroom) Will have to see if I've got any photos with it in now AnthonyG 1
dean36014 Posted March 27 Posted March 27 I used to deliver beko TV's 30 years ago. They were absolutely crap, ended up collecting them back when they'd failed in the first 3 months. Catalogue deliveries for Freeman's, remember them? Beko fridges were great, we never had to collect those back at all. But the 28" beko TV's over 38 weeks payment options used to sell like hot cakes. Remember one day the truck got broken into at Corby. Two beko TV's in the boxes stolen. They'd have been gutted when the found out they were warranty returns we'd collected and put back in the packaging for the new ones we had just delivered. N19, sdkrc, Yoss and 9 others 5 7

Lonestar Posted March 27 Posted March 27 Fuel pump is one of the things that works in mine 🤔 Assuming it's the same, as mine is also a pre-facelift 2.0 8v. If I had the spare cash and the means, I'd be tempted. I'd bring the pump out of my Carlton and drive the thing back.

HMC Posted March 27 Author Posted March 27 Well the broken carlton has had a deposit put on it by a local guy.
