I already have a shed. It's full of RC Planes.

...most of which do not fit in a BGT!

You'd be surprised! I managed to fit one in the Smart Roadster (just). No passenger mind.

Actually hope to use it for running it around for things like going to the local RC flying club.

I bought this in part to learn new things and have fun. So I've got a million and one questions but because this thread is so long now, not sure if I'd be better to park this thread as a MGB car search thread and start a new?

Plenty of bits and pieces to sort on this and write about too.

I'd love to see a dedicated thread for this car ^^

Yeah roll on the MGB fixing & enjoying thread.

Just been looking on eBay at mgb's. Can't believe how cheap they are! Mind you I have been blinkered by the crazy prices of air cooled vw's over recent years!

I can't see why not, but I don't think I'd trust an auto wash if the GT has a webasto sunroof.

My atrocious MGB GT had a Webasto. It was referred to as the 'water feature'

I won't deny, I'd really like a sunroof still.

Speaking of leaks, I had a feel in the car earlier after the heavy rain and it's pretty much dry everywhere. Slightly moist from one of the under the passenger air outlet but only slightly. I was worried, especially with the heavy rain, that I'd find a goldfish bowl amount of water in the footwells.

Extremely tempted to get a builder in (or just do it myself) and have a car port put up. Not as good as a garage but should be a darn sight better than nothing.

Smart Roadster instead has decided to disgrace itself by getting itself wet again behind the back seats. Going to need another go with the rubber seal treatment. Pretty sure it is really from it crying to itself when it saw its replacement appear. :(

Going against the grain on this one simon but i think the colour really suits it and very much of the era.

Resist any temptation to travel the well trodden road of minilites and a red paintjob.

Note sure about the ICE but maybe use your skills with programming and electrikery to build something like in the link below

Enjoy it before Jeremy Corbin comes round and takes it off you with an electric Hi-ab in 2050. Hang on he'll be about 90 by then so he probably won't give a shit.

The pop up/slide up&back (see: Proton) might be a neat/watertight install.

Stop worrying about rain.

You live in England.

Besides, the best way to sort out a leaky BL car is to pop out the bungs in the floorpan drain holes. Boom, sorted. No more puddles and the carpets get washed regularly.

It's not the cabin you need to be worried about water getting in, it's the boot.  Have you had a look in there since the downpour?  If that's dry then you'll probably have good luck with the rest of it.  If it's not dry, well, TADTS.

The top exterior facing rubber seal (2 seals on mine) is pretty worn. But the boot seemed dry. The foam inserts in the wing felt a tad damp mind. I've removed them as someone mentioned earlier that they're great at causing rust.

Need to have a check in the spare tyre well and make sure it's dry there too. But the rest of that area seemed fine.

Could you rent a small storage unit somewhere like Safestore and empty the garage? Got to be a better solution than building a carport

I like it; I think the colour suits it and chrome bumpers are so much nicer.

I like the one you've ended up with and I hope you enjoy it. I'm not really into these but every time I go to a car show and see a line of these there's always one or two that catch my attention. Last weekend it was these two green beauties:

Second one is a LE from 1980 I think. it was a run out model if memory serves.

This will be one of the very few threads where the OP doesnt have to post a " i cant find this part anywhere, has anyone got one?" question :-P

It looks like a Jubilee edition to me

It's N reg, so 74/75 I always thought these were Queens Silver Jubilee specials but I think they must be some sort of MG anniversary.

Posted

I think the first was queen's jubilee and the second was 50th MG anniversary. Then BL closed down the factory. IIRC

Don't forget it could be an over enthusiastic enthusiast who has stuck the decals on.

I'm not massively into these, honest, but, er, these two others that I took photos of at Brooklands in January were both N reg too, so unless there's an 'over enthusiastic' arm of the enthusiasts club I reckon 74/75 is a safe bet:

Edit: I've zoomed into the badge on the wing and I think it says 1925-MG-1975 so 50th anniversary model I assume?

Yes Jubilee that one 50 years MG or something, should have a plaque on the dash.

All have the same paint and wheels.

They try to ask more for them but the ones I looked at were rough.
