Shitefest 2017... is it happening?

I may have missed posts to this effect but it's now time for me to submit holidays for the year ahead so trying to get a head start... are we having a Shitefest this year?

This isn't me signing up to organise it 'cos the SVM have nowhere to actually host it, unfortunately.

My parents have a farm. I'll ask them whether they want some weirdos from the internet turning up in their crap cars.

Not sure how much interest there would be, with it being being rural Aberdeenshire though...

However, me and 17-Coffees were trying to drum up interest in the idea of a mini-shitefest at How Many Left in Alford in May, if that is of interest. It's usually a fun and interesting day out, and would be nice to share it with some more shiters.

Sorry, not familiar with areas of Scotland. I only know Rhyl is north wales and Cardiff is south! And Wales is a lot closer than Scotland

An NC500 convoy of shite would be incredible.

I thought someone was planning on calling the bubble car museum to ask if we could use their field?.

It's about time we had a 'fest in Scotland. The SVM and associates deserve a break and to see that the rest of us can travel stupid distances to sit in a wet field.

I keep expecting an SVMFest, will need time to save up and prepare my car so it would actually make it there and back though...

+1 to wanting to start to get this organised now...

What are the initial ideas then?

1 - Bubble car museum

2 - Supernaut's parents field

3 - Turn up at CMS's work and don't leave the car park

4 - ?

(I'm not organising it as my idea will be back at Chris's as that's very local to me!_

I was mostly joking with regards to my parents' field...

However, I'm sure I could find other places round here. Maybe hire Turriff showground on a quiet weekend. Or we could all just park on Aberdeen beach and watch our cars rust away before our very eyes. :D

I enjoyed shitefest 2015 at Llangllen and Devil's Bridge. It seemed like a central point for most of us. As much as I'd like to host it up in Scotland it really is too far away for all of the southern softies to travel.

Not for me it isn't, am always up for a trip!

Devil's Bridge is out. I fear the hotel would no longer be quite so welcoming. No chance I can organise anything this year either. I've got a seriously hectic summer, so I'm truly hoping I don't miss out on attending this year. Would certainly drive to Scotland if it's on a free weekend.

Llangollen was good, so if someone else (or Mat the Cat) wants to pick up the reins for that one, it could be good.

I'd do Scotland if it was mooted, all us southerners could meet up en route and end up arriving together in one massive shite convoy!

Llangollen would suit me. Its only downside was the lack of a hooning road but we could go for a drive on the Saturday.

Personally I'll probably skip the drive this year. They were fun, don't get me wrong but alot of shite fettling seemed to happen by the people who stayed behind, and that looked fun!

Unless the drive is part of a multi site plan as SF15 was, in which case fair enough, I'm in

Surely Rhyl is the obvious* location, but presumably we don't know anyone who owns a wet field there.

"And now for the latest from Sally Traffic..."

"Well yes, we're getting reports of slow traffic on the M6 north of the Lake District, with one lane and the hard shoulder blocked by a surprising number of beige vehicles, and the other two lanes blocked by bits that have fallen off them."

I like the Scottish scenery up to Fife, is Aberdeen further north?

Moar very north, yes.

The yard I could of previously used (I did offer it in one of the threads) is now full so that's out.

I'm sure that wouldn't be a problem. It's a great venue, and the Austin Counties Car Club had their rally there in 2014, so they are obviously open to the idea.

If we have it at the bubble car museum I can come in the Renault 6.  It made it there once so there's no* reason why it wouldn't make it again.

Then you can spend the weekend admiring my black and silver number plates - I know how you love those.

Happy to contact bubble museum to see if they can accommodate.

Roughly what month works best?

We need to set this up. Don't mid if it's Lincs, or Scotland or anyplace.

I'm gonna aim to come in the Rancho.
