theorganist Posted November 23, 2016 Posted November 23, 2016 I have decided to try raffling the Talbot to see if there is any interest in it. The cost per ticket is £6, I won't take any money until I have seen how much interest there is in it. It has had an "unofficial" MOT today and the only two things my mechanic told me it would fail on are some welding to the rear drivers side suspension around £150 he quoted which is about 3 hours work there and the windscreen washers don't work. I have had this car since early 2014. It had been off the road for a few years having been owned most of it's life by an elderly gentleman in Leicestershire. I have bought an Austin Maxi (my favourite make and model of vehicle) which needs some work so I have no room now for the Horizon.I has 51,000 miles and MOT till January. It's good points are:1) Engine is in good mechanical condition - drives well, doesn't burn oil2) Two new front wings3) Basically solid, has been waxoiled underneath and most of the body is solidIt's bad points are:1) Leaks into the front footwell via the passenger parcel shelf - it is not as bad as it was as it used to create a very deep puddle but it still needs looking at as after heavy rain a lot collects on the passenger side shelf, there is one small hole in the inner wing where I am told it is coming from which just needs filling, however I am not convinced it is coming from there. The floor is often damp. 2) Greenery is growing in the front carpet!3) Interior is tatty, drivers seat in particular is extremely worn as is the top of the rear seat, I have put seat covers on4) Gearbox is worn but works. It sometimes jumps out of first if it is not pushed in firmly enough and second crunches5) Exhaust is blowing at the manifold.6) There seems to be a tapping sounds from the front under acceleration but my garage hasn't found any problems and it has not been picked up at any MOT's7) Bottom of the front doors need workIt does drive but I would be loathe to drive it on a long journey due to the blowing exhaust although it is not too loud in the car. Last year it drove to Kent and back with no problems including a seven hour drive sitting in motorway traffic where several modern cars had expired on the hard shoulder. My main concern is that it goes to a good home and that is most likely to happen on Autoshite, I think I am the third Autoshite owner of this vehicle. ProgRocker 1
eddyramrod Posted November 23, 2016 Posted November 23, 2016 What on earth would I do with a Talbot Horizon, of all cars, in beige, of all colours? And how could I possibly justify it, especially to the Mrs? 4 and 16 please. oldcars, NorfolkNWeigh, theorganist and 1 other 4

NorfolkNWeigh Posted November 23, 2016 Posted November 23, 2016 I was just polishing my IPad and somehow I've requested 3 random numbers please. I didn't do it on purpose or owt, because that would be foolish. theorganist 1

theorganist Posted November 24, 2016 Author Posted November 24, 2016 I'm about to go to work so I will update the list later. I think I will set the "raffle date" for Saturday. I will send some PM's later. Thanks all it is heartening to know it should be going to a good home.
theorganist Posted November 24, 2016 Author Posted November 24, 2016 I am surprised this idea hasn't caught on with eBay or something similar. It makes buying and selling things fun, You could end up with a car for a few quid and if you lose out then you haven't lost much. 1 jollyfkr22 NorfolkNWeigh34 Eddyramrod5 Barrett6 bucketeer c/o the moog7 Panhard658 Panhard659 Dean3601410 FOAD11 Braddon8112 SamGlover13 Vulgalour14 Bucketeer c/o the moog15 Cavette16 Eddyramrod17 Panhard6518 Holbeck19 320touring20 Andgrydicky21 TIckman22 Garycox23 Faker24 the moog25 the Moog26 Wilko22027 TonedPear28NorfolkNWeigh293031 Cavette32 Holbeck33 FOAD34 Braddon8135 Faker36 Hairnet3738 Tickman394041 Angrydicky42 Barrett4344 Cavette45 SamGlover4647 NorfolkNWeigh48 Garycox49 jollyfkr25051 Garycox525354555657 Garycox5859

captain_70s Posted November 24, 2016 Posted November 24, 2016 37 please, because I hate myself and the train ticket would be £150, one-way in scum class, which I assume includes hookers and blow for the cost... theorganist 1
