Ok, I'm home now.

I was about to wish you good luck for the journey ahead, but I see you have arrived!

Either it's very, very fast, or was just next door. I'm going for the former, is it a Delorean?

I can see his house from mine. The car actually ended up costing me 10% more than his opening gambit yesterday, must be losing my touch. It's also got a bald tyre and the EML is on, but it's a 2005 car and wasn't exactly expensive.

It doesn't seen to have the mental 80s game console-like combined heater and stereo some of them suffered. Alas.

I thought that - you got sat nav in the top ones and povvo readout in the others IIRC

You haggled so low it went through to the other side.

GRIM.

Good cars though, apart from front subframe rot, and 100% giffer looks.

It does seem that Nissans of that era, no matter how mechanically tip-top, were designed as second hand cars from the get go.

I remember being in the pub with a few friends once and one of our crowd came in and announced that she had been car shopping and found her DREAM car.

Bless her, early twenties at the time and a bit of a drama queen. This should be good I thought....

Go on then, what is it? I ask expecting a Bini or an Audi or even a Merc to match her designer bag. ...

It's a Nissan Almera! she proudly announced.

I think I dropped my pint I was laughing so much.

Sorry but an 05 is too modern for this forum.

Aren't cam chains supposed to be a bit suspect on these?

Rollers. Bentley's. Almeras. This site is now decidedly bourgeois.

I remember an advert for the Almera where it was a couple who kept trying to get rid of them so nobody would know what a great car they were.  The woman had big sunglasses and a big purple flower either in her lapel or on her hat.  At least I think it was the Almera.  I can find no hint of this advert online so perhaps I imagined/dreamed it?

It local Glaswegian parlance the phrase is expressed as " Almera, the car nae cunt wants to drive"

I think the plan was the ads should show folk being "silenced" by secret services when they were saying the Almera was good to drive.

the actual line was "Almera, the car THEY don't want you to drive"

I think people took it a bit too literally:)

Ah, so you remember it too!  I didn't imagine it after all.  I got the Glasgae meaning from the ad too, very confusing at the time.

Need to know what these things are like, especially if it's a 1.8.  Any good?

Not as good as that brilliant Sweeney ad no doubt.

Posted

It's a 1.5.

What price would you be shotting this out fae? Will see if Ma is interested.

Also, those wheel trims need taking off, smashing to pieces and chucked into the nearest skip.

I read the title as 'I'm actually living at the seller's house' to which end I assumed you had sold yourself a car.  Even for you, that would be quite something.

In the event that this did happen, I hope you got a bargain whilst simultaneously holding out for the best price possible and robbing yourself blind.
